- Today we are helping Scott recover his 30ft power boat after his two sailboats were looted and destroyed by pirates around the area of Deception Pass. The entire situation is extremely frustrating and on-going. We also return to Seawolf to continue epoxy and fiberglass projects. [ep82]

The crimes have to be committed on the water though. stripping and stealing the boat could be Piracy. federal offense checks into it. we can't let stuff like this happen.
There is a case being built, also a lot happened on the water before they took his boats to the dock, probably tied up alongside their boat on anchor.
It's also federal offense. I would call FBI, and the coast guard. to see about remedying the situation.
Coast guard kept these boats from being sailed out of the Sound but nothing more, a case is being built, not sure if FBI is involved.
I guess it depends on who the people are that are demanding money.
I'm making the trip up the inner passage soon myself. This is good to know. What a mess this country is becoming.

@projectseawolf I'm going to keep watching your channel. I rarely sub to any channels with similar content as my own (since I'm already doing it) ;) but I like your style man. Q: what would happen if someone was sleeping on their boat, pirates rolled up to do harm, and they got a gun in the face? That's the real solution here. I'm doing the river side of the great loop currently, and everyone is packing here.

Ya, the Puget Sound can be safe but it has been particularly bad in recent years. Just about every major bay has a predator looking for vacant boats now.

His isn’t new, back in the early 70’s a ballard boat shop crew was stealing boats tied up in Shilshole Bay Marina. My dad’s boat was one of them.
Just a couple weeks ago a huge ketch was stolen out of Shelter Bay, this is getting insane

This is so upsetting! I hope someone who is an expert in law can help guide you on how to escalate this. Perhaps this is an issue for the FBI? Seems like some pretty serious organized crime. I'd also encourage you to contact local politicians and the news.
I think the best thing he can do is get a lawyer. This is over $100k worth of damages but law enforcement is playing tag with whose jurisdiction it actually is. It’ll take so much work from Scott to separate out what happened and where, while Parks are still allowing the other guy to continue destroying evidence. Such a complex situation.

Scott reported the cement boat stollen and the coasties would have stopped it if they saw it leaving the State, but the pirate didn’t get far before Scott found it at the State Park.

Derelict boats are a huge problem in Puget Sound. Every boat owner pays fees to the state every year to deal with sunken or abandoned boats. You guys are not getting much response from the authorities because they probably think you guys, along with the pirates, are part of the problem. Get your boats running and insured.

It’s been like this since before I could vote so no, but my probably parents did lol
I find this situation outrageous, basically they are holding hostage your boat as well looting it. Law enforcement could easily investigate and remove said pirates from the area. I have seen at some marinas, signs where you call for suspicious activity or emergency to proper authorities. If something isn't done, it will get worse.
It is outrageous, I don’t know what I’m missing here. The authorities have shown no interest in this and I’ve approached them in the most respectful and understanding ways and still nothing. It does get worse in next week’s episode, basically Scott had to climb in and out of his looted boat with the park ranger watching him struggle while the stairs to the boat are sitting in the back of the pirates truck in the parking lot. It’s amazing in the worst way.
You should never leave a boat on anchor anywhere.
That being said, there is a huge problem with thieves on the water in WA right now. I will have to keep an eye out next time I go through there.
On a happier note, I sailed to Alaska last spring/summer, it was an amazing trip, you are going to love it.
Congratulations! That is a trip I have ALWAYS wanted to do, quite the achievement as well. I completely agree with you, although on Scott’s trip home he ended up breaking his neck and didn’t have much of a choice than to leave them for a bit, and ya, there are people out there looking for empty boats all over Wa.
And now the sailboat that has been painted black is living semi-permanently on a Hope Island state park mooring buoy, once again abandoned. Is this your buddies and can he move it?
So if I stole your car, drove it to my house, painted it black, took the engine out, and the neighbor told you to drive it back to your house you would do it without seeking justice. Oh, and the only tow truck driver in town also lives with me and charges $6k per half mile tow (which he does with this pirate). Gotchya
Law enforcement in the area seems to work together with the pirates. I think it's really a case for FBI. More than high time to proof that there's some difference beteween Haiti in the Caribbean and the US / Canada.

@projectseawolf I have a mountain lake state boat launch in my front yard not far from Anacortes.
I got the fishing rules changed from bait fishing to fly fishing to try to avoid the criminal element that comes with state level recreational sites.
It is the state game wardens that should be the first responders to crimes along with the county/tribal LEOs, yet there are only a handful of game wardens in this area of the state.
State managed lands and waters are largely lawless due to the state not wanting to take full legal responsibility for running public rec sites but also want all authority.
Stay safe on your journey.
No not a collaboration. But law enforcement does have issues with any boats on anchor and left unattended. And it is tricky to enforce local waters (otherwise we’d see less unattended anchored boats 😂)

I'm kind of confused. Why would you pay them off? Tell them to go pound sand. I also don't understand the accusations the Park Rangers on cahoots with them I am sure most Park Rangers are not going to risk their government jobs to help some thieves.
