I also love “You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else”, Dance Turned Into Romance “ and “Who Can I Run To” by The Jones Girls. They are so talented! Great reaction Ashley! ❤️👍🏽🔥😎👏⭐️🎵🎤🎶🎼🎧💿🪩
Valorie, Brenda and Shirley Jones are sisters. They received their big break touring and singing back ground vocals for Diana Ross. Diana was so impressed with their harmonies, she encouraged the Jones sisters to break out on their own as a group. The world lost the gifts of Valorie in 2001 and Brenda Jones in 2022. RIP
Thank you for the history lesson RIP Valorie and Brenda Jones. Somewhere along the line we've forgotten to pay tribute to past artists. Often times we never know until years later someone notable has transitioned on. Thanks again.. God Bless You..
They were real sisters, they were former background singers to Diana Ross before they went on their own. Unfortunately Brenda and Valorie have passed away. Shirley is still alive and performs on her own
Former teacher here. The original queens of that Motown/Philly sound. Props to Dexter Wansel and Cynthia Biggs. I was 8 back in 1982 and this song would be playing on the jukebox every time my mother (RIP) took me to Taco Tico. Later in life, I got a chance to interview Shirley Jones on my radio show. RIP to Brenda and Valorie ❤
It's The Sound Of Philadelphia or TSOP. The only thing motown had to do with this is, the Jones Girls were from Detroit. Everything else is straight Philly.
People should also check out the version of the Jones Girls' 'Nights Over Egypt' done by Jazz group Incognito. The Incognito re-make is excellent as well.
That's a beautiful old school song. It really resonates with me because I've been to Egypt recently. I'm a roller skater and I must agree with you, this is a skating song.
Your comment about recycling music is so correct .Originality ,creativity and longevity seems to have died by the 90s Although good music was produced in the 90s very few classics were produced that will start to test of time. Many good songs were samples from 80s and 70s.So glad I got experience music from the best era 70s and 80s .That is why we are still listening to these songs today.
You’re (SO RIGHT) sister!! 👏🏽 And also what you highlighted about what Ashley said about her own younger generation recycling music I was so glad to see you say that in your comment and so happy to hear Ashley say that to us older viewers whilst at the same time admitting to everyone else watching her channel that these facts are true so that if they weren’t aware of that previously they’re aware of it now as well too!! Your comment was SPOT ON. 👌🏽 Although there were good songs produced in the 1990s very few of them were classics and I should know cause I was there from 1990 to 1999 listening to music and watching music videos and knew to myself that none of those songs produced in that generation despite being great songs could stand up to just this one song! I believe and know the greatest songs ever produced were in the 1970s and the 1980s and I’m even gonna throw in the 1960s as well too for good measure when I think of FIFTH DIMENSION and their INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL SONG “UP, UP AND AWAY” which is JUST as SPIRITUALLY UPLIFTING and just as SOULFULLY SOOTHING as THE EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL SONG sung by our SUPREMELY BLESSED JONES SISTERS “NIGHTS OVER EGYPT which I played by FONTANILLA BEACH IN MARBELLA whilst eating HÄAGEN-DAZS ice cream every day in PUERTO BANUS during my NINE WEEK STAY in SOUTHERN SPAIN thinking about the MAJESTIC MOROCCO that I could see on the horizon just twenty miles away from that part of Andalusia in Spain which is part of Africa where the land of EGYPT is whilst OUR SENSATIONAL SISTERS HARMONISED and SUNG THEIR HEARTS OUT FOR US as the MELODY CONCEIVED IN ZION AND BORN IN AGARTHA PLAYED IN THE BACKGROUND AS THE SUN ROSE AND THE SUN SET!!!!!!!!!! 🇪🇸🏝️😎☀️😅🍦😋✨😌 I should know cause I was born in 1976 so grew up listening to ALL OF THESE SONGS on various AM/FM RADIO STATIONS, CASSETTE TAPES (AND) VINYLS from a three year old toddler in 1979 to a thirteen year old teenager in 1989!!!! 🎶🌞🎶🥰🎶♥️🎶🥲
They were real sisters. Unfortunately, Shirley is the only one left with us. This is one of my favorite songs. A perfect blend of instrumentation and harmonies!
Please don't miss out on the lyrics, Ashley. "Your eyes won't believe "What your mind can't conceive" These lyrics both beautiful and imaginative. Of course the harmony of their voices and the music are what we all notice first. The only other music band keeping this song alive are from the UK. Incognito loves to play this genre of beautiful music. But then only talented and skilled artists have the confidence to play "Nights Over Egypt". And what's up with the Grammys? I looked at the winners for 1982 and I couldn't believe The Jones Girls didn't win a Grammy.
This song is a classic. You definitely have to get up and dance when this song comes on. I love this group. They are one of the best groups ever. They can sanggg, trust me! You really need to check more of their songs. They are sisters. Sadly, only one of them is still living.
There's a star in the east, Over pyramids, at Giza... Incense and myrrh, Girls that swirl to the music... Women Fellahin, Wear veils to be seen, by no one... Deep lyrics that meant something. That's why Old School music is the best.
After seeing your reaction to this song, I think you would love Michael Jackson’s “Liberian Girl”. If you choose to react to it, use the official video. There are at least 25 cameo appearances of celebrities of that day. Try and see how many you could guess correctly.
(Their ”ASAP” is another fav.) 1. I found soul/funk around this time (1980, I was 13). Blessed time. I’d say 1976-1983 were golden years for this genre. 2. Check out O’Bryan - ”Right from the start”. th-cam.com/video/3-xBMhYeKk0/w-d-xo.html I KNOW you’ll love it! (Or as Prince said: ”👁️ No”.) 3. It’s a funky+romantic floor filler. If not as a reaction, listen to it privately. As long aa you get to hear it. ✨
Hey sis.. you gotta check out another all band of brothers , the R@b group Switch from the 80s .. I wanna be closer .. another vibe for your old school playlist
These sisters are actually sisters from Detroit. #WhatUpDoe #DetroitLove

I love when the younger generation has an appreciation for old skool music. 💯

I also love “You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else”, Dance Turned Into Romance “ and “Who Can I Run To” by The Jones Girls.

Their first hit "You gonna make me love somebody else" was also a wonderful song
I bought this album (on vinyl), in 1981.
The Jones Girls are timelessly good!
Sweet Philly Soul
Pull up to the spot in the S550 bumpin this ✊🏾
The Jones Girls recorded and released their song "Who Can I Run To" in 1979. The group Xscape covered the song in 1995.
People should also check out the version of the Jones Girls' 'Nights Over Egypt' done by Jazz group Incognito. The Incognito re-make is excellent as well.
The LEGENDARY Jones sisters aka Jones Girls ❤❤❤❤❤
its a good night time song.
That's a beautiful old school song. It really resonates with me because I've been to Egypt recently. I'm a roller skater and I must agree with you, this is a skating song.
