These women are legendary, underrated, and one of the best female girl groups ever. Vocal beasts. In addition to their own albums, they also sang and arranged the background vocals on many 70s R&B hits by artists like Teddy Pendergrass and others. Diana Ross gave them a big break, taking them on tour as her background singers and helping them get their record deal with Philadelphia International Records.
The industry today wants to kill that energy that you are experiencing right now. This music was created to lift up our Souls....hints the name...Soul Music.
Great reaction. This track was written by Cynthia Biggs and Dexter Wansel. Wansel produced/arranged and played keyboards. His own music and his work with other artists such as Jean Carne is phenomenal.
The Jones Girls Are Sisters Shirley, Brenda, & Valorie they have the best harmonies their harmonies are tight and there blend is amazing as well!❤️ please react to more of them Shirley Jones is still performing and Brenda & Valorie passed away!!❤️ they are icons!
Written and produced by Dexter Wansel, writer producer extraordinaire, and conductor of The Sound Of Philadelphia houseband, MFSB. If you liked that, check out SWEETEST PAIN, all chicks LOVE that song.
Jones girls, Sister Sledge, Ritchie family. Great girl groups. I found soul/funk in 1980, 12 yro in Sweden. I’ve always loved voices like these. Add Parrice Rushen, Stacey Lattisaw, Chic, Atlantic Starr and Carrie Lucas ”show me where you’re coming from” (MJ is one of the background(!) dancers.
The Jones Girls were best female group in music history. They were underrated and had never received the recognition they've deserved. Their harmonies were beautiful, impeccable, and unmatched. There will never be another group like The Jones Girls. Brenda, and Valerie has transitioned to heaven, while Shirley Jones is still keeping their legacy alive. The Jones Girls will be never forgotten.
@BrittReacts - Welcome to the Jones Girls. One of the most talented trio’s to ever Grace the studio… Nights over Egypt, You gonna make me love somebody else, Who can I run to etc… If need help with the classics let me know. You will review yourself right into the Heaven that used to be our black music. This is the music of my childhood. It’s what was playing when my family was playing cards and dancing in the basement. Miss those times, it was all so pure.
Yes Valorie, Brenda and Shirley Jones are sisters. They received their big break touring and singing back ground vocals for Diana Ross. Diana was so impressed with their harmonies, she encouraged the Jones sisters to break out on their own as a group. Shirley is the sole surviving sister of the Jones Girls, the world lost the talents of sisters Valorie in 2001 and Brenda Jones in 2022. RIP
I've loved this song from the first time I listened to it. Another band I love listening to is Incognito, because they've covered "Nights Over Egypt". One of my favorite live performances is with Kelli Sae singing lead vocals. The lyrics are creative, imaginative and beautiful.
Why don't more people know about The Jones Girls? Most people I know are fairly aware of the Jones Girls. We grew up with their harmonies, and that of many similar groups in the seventies and eighties. And, another thing was, we knew about most of the big hits from the sixties and even the fifties. That is a big difference with the youth today, most of whom only to listen to music from their era. If you're trying out this journey, you might want to check out artists like Phyllis Hyman, Jean Carne, Minnie Riperton etc. Nice to see a young one enjoying some sweet eighties soul.
This Song was Pmayed during my childhood Griwing up WhethercCleaning ,Jamming At a Barbeque or Seeing my Step dad Roll his weed and bagging it.Talking about "Oooh Dis My JAMM Rightchere!,"... "Don't Fuck with my shit, Don't be playin with them Damn Seeds either,I'll be Back" ,while he had that joint Hanging from his mouth it's a wonder That thing never fell or popped out his mouth...😂😂😂lol lol lol....Mom was never around whenever he did this though ,lol lol lol
@BrittReacts. The reason why you haven't heard about The Jones Girls because the music industry today is more interesting by looks than talent. The Spice Girls were the worst female bands of all time. They were attractive but they can't sing. It's not about talent anymore It's T&A. It's sad but that's just the way it is.

If the Jones girls were gospel artists, they would compare to The Clarke Sisters harmony wise. Just beautifully mesmerizing.

Thankx

Me2
There was so much great music from this era some of it slipped by some songs we didn't get to experience and all these groups could bring it strong.
This has to be one of the most beautiful R&B tracks of all time, I'm so glad young people are discovering it.
it,s about the country Egypt when Black people rule the world our history is more deeper than a club
Yes...not the fake Egyptians there now.
Tell her. For real!
RIP English

Beautiful song & I like the way you reacted. They were at the top of the charts in the 80's & 90's but as you said today's gen doesn't know.
Underrated and under appreciated! Yes they are sisters and they have a lot of good music! Check out “You gonna make me love somebody else” by them.

You are cute as a button and have a great personality. Just let the music play and it will speak for itself.

Try : change - Heaven of my life 👍
If you are going to stop the track to talk, please rewind a bit when restarting, you are missing the flow of the song otherwise. Thanks😊
