Thank you so much for sharing this Scott. For those of us that weren't able to make it to show our respects (because I didn't know when it was happening) it is truly appreciated.
Virginia Fry probably, different departments are different especially forest service, my thought is that it might be for family of the fallen, or for the survivor
Would i be in the wrong for saying that people clapping is highly disrespectful as the hearses pass by? it should be a solemn quiet moment, not a happy one. Clapping signifies happiness or congratulatory event, but a funeral procession is neither.
I disagree. Their clapping is meant to convey their utmost appreciation and respect for the sacrifice of the hotshots. It wasn't a happy clap, it was a "thank you, we will never forget you" clap.
No you are not wrong, if the droid were made of emergency services and some military you would only here the noises of the vehicles as they go by and you would see the viewers standing solomley, these people waved flags clapped and cheered
Leroy Bomski that’s quite a bit over the top, you wouldn’t say the the four firefighters in Houston should get a Medal of Honor, plus a civilian fire fighter can’t get a Medal of Honor, Same goes for any other civilian in a service or not, Medal of Honor is only given to military personnel who go above and beyond
Not only was the Clapping disrespectful the waving was very disrespectful and all honesty they should have had a public service announcement stating if you're going to observe the procession do it in silence
I agree. I was about a mile past this spot that day and it was quiet and respectful, not as big a crowd but still quiet. My wife was about 3 miles beyond that and there was clapping.

Am I right in presuming that the 20th hearse (with no name in its windows) was there in case 1 of the 19 broke down?
