I sent Marquette a boy and they sent him back home a man. It was a great experience for him, and he's got tales to tell his grandchildren, when they come. He served on the Warrior a lot, Mary K., and a few other boats. Worked up to oiler before his time was up.
I work for Marquette now on my second hitch pay is good you can take care of your family with it and yourself great benefits and I love working on the river it’s a great experience just got to fall around the right ppl 🔥🔥👍

I have applied to this company 15 times no word from them... thats so unfair, at least send me a rejection letter and make me feel like a human being yali where once in this position of looking for jobs
Muna Ukachukwu man go work on the power lines. More money and you’ll be home everyday until you have storms. I wanted to work on the barges this year as well until I came to my senses. Don’t don’t the barge stuff man. I’m about to get on with a power company soon. Will gladly do this type of work for 30+ years. I applied for them too, got a call and never called back. But they sent me an email like a month later saying I didn’t get it.
You are not missing anything. The pay is actually lower than a factory job. 150 dollars a day and you work 12 hours with no overtime. Gone 30 days at a time including holidays. Most of your time is spent being a maid. You are even required to make up the captain’s bed twice a day.
Geesh, I wish I knew about all of this 50 years ago. I've always want to go to sea. The river is not exactly the sea, but it's pretty close.
