- A discussion about the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650, and it’s one major flaw. The rear suspension. Tehacher T Thailand feels it’s time to change the rear shocks, and has purchased Hagon after market shocks to fit to the motorbike.

Interested to see how you get on with these shocks. It speaks volumes when a company can't even be bothered to reply to an email. Glad you were brave enough to call them out 👍
I think the problem was I sent an email in English to the Thai side of the company. But as an International company now, this shouldn’t have been an issue.
Your video is a rare find, mate! This is good, please keep more videos coming in on the SM650. I have an Er6N 2016 model and tempted with this bike. To take my Mrs for a lazy spin. Im getting older and the Er6n, even though a nice bike is getting to fast for me 😅 im waiting for the suspension change and your feedback on it. Thanks mate, all the way from India
Thanks for your support and kind words. The new shocks video has finished filming today, and will be ready to watch on Friday. All I can say is.....wow 🙏
Thank you so much for these videos. I'm an esl teacher in South Korea and looking to get a SuperMeteor 650 for myself to make my commute that much more enjoyable. Look forward to your update on the new suspension and review of the Himalayan.
Thank you so much also. South Korea sounds interesting. Hope you had a nice long break like I’ve just had 🙏
I can't wait to see how the Hagan shocks work out. I expect that they will be a success! 👍👍
I will be very disappointed if there is no improvement. Fingers crossed. 🤞
Hi Teacher T, I have one month ago my Super Meteor 650 Celestial red. I have been seeing you videos, and they are great. I am learning a lot about the motocycle. I found as you, the motorcycle is quite bouncy and hard. Before, I change the shocks, I would like to change a bit the tyre's air pressure. Royal Endfield recomment: Front 41, rear 36. Are you riding your Meteor 650 with these air pressures. thanks for your answer, best regards from Tenerife/Spain.
I feel and shared your disappointment. I too went down the route of trying to lower tyre pressures. Sadly it doesn’t work. It just makes the bike less controllable going over ridges in the road. Just in case you have not seen it I recommend my video here : th-cam.com/video/DVMdhrHC2tM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=N68UuUvDY4WJRNOX
From show room the preload is set at 1. It needs to be minimum of 3 to be honest. On 1 it’s so soft, the unit has no travel left on big bumps, is you get a hard jolt. I too didn’t want to buy after market shocks. I struggled for 6 months with the originals. In the end I gave up. And wished I had changed them before. But please adjust your preload. It will help 🙏
Got to say, I already have the 350 classic and love it, and keep toying with the idea of getting the 650 SM, but this shock absorber issue really puts me off. Such a damn good looking bike with poke in the tail you don't need. Let's hope the new shocks do the job. I like the belt drive too you did recently, and I think between the belt drive and a decent set of shocks it will be the bike of the century . Until then, it's not.
Appreciate your comment. I’m hoping the shocks work. We will find out soon. Stay tuned 🙏
I bought Meteot 350 in may as new bike. Aurora blue. Great commuter and love to ride it. My girlfriend also likes it as it`s comfortable bike. We did together ove 2000 miles on it already. If I upgrade this for something bigger probably it would be RE Super Meteor 650 or Triumph speedmaster 1200. But for triumph price i could have meteor 350 and super meteor 650.
A recent comment on another video from a speedmaster owner for 2 weeks, said it cornered bad,y and went out and bought a Meteor 650 after a test ride.
How do you find meteor 650 after riding 350 ? I mean it’s obvious there is a lot more power in 650. But o mean like a weight, handling and mpg ?
@@mochi9059 Good question. I actually made a video about it : th-cam.com/video/lYvHfEHD-28/w-d-xo.html
What do you consider "high" and is the issieu? I was in the Phuket RE dealer yesterday, but it was raining cats and dogs, so no testride.
Mentioned a fiew things on the demo model: rust near the mirror nuts and a total faded, already pink start button.
And the seats: hard and harder. I think they use granite as padding. 😂😂
That is all signs of a bike left in the rain and sun all day. I always garage my bike, and park it in the shade. None of the above, apart from hard seats. Video on Friday will be after market seat review 🙏
Looking forward to the hogan review :). I ordered and received my sprockets and belt from RS tech but I don’t think I’ll be able to install it for another month :(
Thanks. I do plan to make a fitting video for the belt drive in the near future. Time permitting between work. Hope it all goes well. 🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand will it be a diy? If so I might try follow along save myself a few hundred $$ :) thanks to you I’m loving the bike now after the suspension tip on your other video. Still curious to see the performance of the suspension.
Is it true that using a shorter shock makes it harder to turn? Can you notice the difference ? Ty
I have noticed no difference in handling at all, apart from I am much more confident on a lower bike 🙏
That is sooo good to hear. I’m 5’7 and lately been feeling less confident on it.
Are you around Chiang Mai by any chance? (Many years ago, I used to live in Hang Dong near the Ping, and thought I vaguely recognised a few shots).
Looking forward to the results on the Hagon shocks. I remember the roads round my way after the rains, and I must say the new Himi looks much more suitable!
Chiang Rai. But still in Cornwall until Tuesday. Haven’t seen my Meteor for a month 😂🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand Have a good flight - and a good ride on those new Hagons.
@@DougBrown-h1n thank you. Can’t wait to fit them.
How are you liking the belt drive.
Ha ha. Just posted a review video about it 🙏
Waiting for your Himalayan 450 review 🤗
Next Friday hopefully 🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand Thank you 🙏
Can you share the exact model or link to the suspensions that you are referring in this video! I have been waiting for sometime to get the suspension updated especially for the Indian Road conditions! 😂
I’ll wait for your review to finally make the decision :-)
Yes of course. It will be in the video I make for the first Friday in May ,🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand Waiting for your next video as always!! :-)
@@zahedhossain7795 Himalayan, out tomorrow 🙏
nice vid. question.. what are we considering high speed? so i can have an idea
With the original shocks anything over 80 kph is uncomfortable with big bumps. On Friday the new video comes out with more detail.
Hey Teacher T, cheers from Panama! what model of Hagon shocks did you purchase for the RE650?
I bought the 290mm version. Hoping to lower the bike at the same time. 🙏
where did you get those leather panniers / saddle bags? They look genuine and I can't seem to find them!
I think they were made for the Bullet 500. Hence I got them cheap on sale. But they are very good at making leather products in Thailand. 🙏
Ur thoughts on windshield of super meteor?? Is it necessary?
A very popular modification for the Suoer Meteor. I had one on my Meteor 350. The 650 being able to go over 100 kph certainly does get windy. A bat wing does look good also on the 650. But I think I prefer the naked original look. 🙏
"Not fit for purpose": I'm glad i experienced some bad luck that caused me to cancel the order for my Meteor. Maybe by the time i recover, RE will have discovered the light!
May be a hard choice of words, but after riding other bikes recently, the fact that they are poor in performance was underlined and stood out drastically. Sorry to hear about your misfortune. I do hope you get a Meteor soon, and hopefully my review soon of after market suspension may win you back 🙏
Hi mister T, which bike do you prefer? SM650 or SG650?
Personally I prefer the SM650, because of its relaxed riding position and lower seat height. But if you are taller, younger, and want to go faster, the SG650 is fantastic.
hagons are great...good choice
Good to hear. Looking forward to fitting them soon 🙏
what do you recommend for the shotgun 650?
Rear shocks? Any after market shock for the Meteor should fit the Shotgun. 🙏
@@Teacher-T-Thailand thank you TT
