Lyrics:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Whenever I am feeling low
I look around me and I know
There's a place that will stay within me
Wherever I may choose to go
I will always recall the city
Know every street and shore
Sail down the river which brings us life
Winding through my Singapore
Chorus:
This is home truly, where I know I must be
Where my dreams wait for me,
where that river always flows
This is home surely, as my senses tell me
This is where I won't be alone,
for this is where I know it's home
When there are troubles to go through
We'll find a way to start anew
There is comfort in the knowledge
That home's about its people too
So we'll build our dreams together
Just like we've done before
Just like the river which brings us life
There'll always be Singapore
( Repeat Chorus )
For this is where I know it's home
For this is where I know I'm home
Total Defence Day marks the anniversary of the beginning of 3 years and 8 months of Japanese occupation in Singapore during WWll. It reminds us of our vulnerability as a small nation and how the five aspects of military, civil, economic, social and psychological defence are essential for us to maintain our sovereignty.
Remember that what you cannot defend, does not belong to you.
Whenever im feeling low I look around me and I know.. Theres a place that would stay within me wherever i may choose to go... I will always recall the city know every street and shore. Sail down the river taht brings us life winding through my Singapore..
This is home truly where I know I must be... Where my dreams wait for me where the river always flows..
This is home surely. As my senses tell me, this is where i wont be alone... For this is where I know its home...
Being overseas for two years, serving my country, having signed on, I have no regrets. Every time I listen to this song, I feel a roll of patriotism roll through me. No, I have not been conned to doing so, I just love Singapore that much.
Note that it is Chen Wei Lian that is singing "As My senses tell me" Tells us we must think about what we have and make good use of them , not what we lack.
No matter how they sound, it isnt about how 'nice' it sounds but the meaning behind it. I dont care how many people say Singapore's songs suck, no matter how much they supposedly suck or how 'old' they are I love them. These songs werent written as pop songs they, were written to simply to convey the spirit of our lion city. This version was written for our Total Defence Day.
The lyrics express how Singaporeans feel. A song that belongs to us, SINGAPOREANS!
Many genres. 39 artist. 1 song. 1 soul.
kit's singing of Home is the same as before.. amazing feat to bring together so many artistes, each bringing their own flavor to the simple and familiar tune.. Home is close to hearts of SIngaporean :)

C'mon... okay, maybe too much rap for some people's taste, but can't we all just enjoy the awesome coming together of Singapore's vocal and musical talents each with their skillful and unique musical style, singing one of the best National Day songs? I mean, thats what its all about isn't it?
How cool would it be, if every year, local artiste would take time out and write our national Day songs together?
@heartondisplay i agree too. a breath of fresh air.
excellent, please put up a full hd version
@yeheyz that's Kit Chan! :)
@jaykingisme Kit chan-0:52 Stephanie sun-1:17 Olivia ong-1:32
25 are jealous that Singapore is not their home.
i love this song when sheikh haikel have.
@HopeforAllKind Well-said! As the saying goes, "近朱者赤,近墨者黑," being far from home, it's only now that i truly appreciate all these.
"Home" has got to be the best National Day song in history... Not to say that there aren't any decent songs after it, the quality of the songs are simply deteriorating...
Yam ah mee should star in this one too. ): Next year?
please release 1080P version!!!!!!!!
Man this is a beautiful song making me home sick
This is a great version! Don't bother with a new NDP song this year. This is it!
Was that jeremy monteiro at the start of the video?! Pretty cool how they featured so many great local musicians. Not sure about the rapping element, but tmost respect for the legendary sheikh haikel though!
@angelinaperry how you know theres auto tuning? FYI she very talented and won various award in the music industry, stop passing judgement to get a lot of thumb ups.
Thumbs up for this!!! But i still prefer the original version
i love the scenes from old Singapore & is that Big Splash or something?
jj lin part
agree.....
Although I find this song catchy, I still prefer the old version in 1998. Bring back the old memories.
@nnaaeee Well, I'm not sure about bangalas, but PRCs are supposed to be in Singapore to help Singapore to work and such! I'm sure Singaporeans need PRCs, whom many may eventually be a citizen of Singapore! As a loyal citizen, I am sure you should respect the fact that Singapore needs more people... too... :)
@nnaaeee AGREED .THIS SONG WILL BECOME A HISTORY.....
the rap spoils everything!
Lol, this reminds me of the Haiti video. Did they do this because of the Flood in Orchard Road? Cause that reminds me of home! HAHA!
i swear that they re-use some clip, i have seen Mr Dick Lee and Ms Kit Chan did those action before SOMEWHERE whereby i don't remeber
@CombineSoldier HAHAHA LOVE THIS!!!!
JUST BEATS!

Plain, simple and nice.
