These aren't meant to replace a bulldozer. They excel at certain roles, while a tracked dozer excels at other roles. It's about using the right tool for the right job.
I started on a D8 2U when I was about 12. I even run the new stuff. I didn't go to any three week training course. I went to the college of hard knocks and can school you pups. It's great being older. The I remember whens and also being able to do the job with anything modern
some people just dont get it. Blade control systems are for finishing..say it with me. fi-ni-shing. not mass moving huge rolls in front of blade. Thats where this Deere high speed really shines, high speed finishing with blade control.
Tom Mills finally some one else who is tired of repeating themselves!!!!! It boggles my damn mind how some of these guys have lasted as long as they have yet still need told this!!!!
Yep got same problem here in New Zealand with the boss, power angle tilt is for finnishing work. Try to get him to buy a straight blade dozer for cleanfill dump
I don't claim to be an expert but I'd consider myself a well rounded heavy equipment operator.. from dozers, backhoes, skid steers, front end loaders, excavators, etc. About 7 years experience. Like I said, not an expert but very familiar.
I wouldn't say a D7E is exactly old, but it takes a hell of a lot more skill to run a D8 2U than you will ever have the chance to learn. So yes I will grow old with those machines puppy dog.
@Thehoelogdog hey old timer, start kissing the people preparing Dtms for automated GPS equipment as the need for you are numbered. Enjoy it while it lasts because management always win
Those rubber tracks are going to cost ALOT of money to replace. I feel it will cost much more money to maintain overall. I would HATE to be the mechanic who works on that... have fun chasing blown hydro hoses. Good thing I am not a mechanic! If your not rocking very long stretches of road...all the time...I don't think it would be a very good investment. I would hate to clean all of those tracks after a muddy day haha. At least with a regular dozer its easy to clean off the tracks. Another side note...get a rookie(anyone who sucks) operator who thinks spinning track is effective...bye bye inner track lugs. They will shear off = expensive.
actually I know a lot about equipment. I know this one would only have specific applications. Do you think of yourself as some kind of an operator? If so, you might reconsider.
Well it seems that I have a bit of experience on my side. Like about 25 years more. These are a good machine and are very capable in their own right, but they have limited use and aren't really a high production machine. I think they just needed to invent a new toy. That's the thing it is best used for.
ahhhhh hahahahahaha they just always think that after a training class, they can out do us "old Timers" Why do the pups always pee? is it over excitement or fear? i think fear. How about you?
I still am not impressed. by the machine or you.I caught on at the beginning that you are not one of much skill and are more interested in playing with the neat toys. Like this ATV.

Though it is Dozing huge Rolls in front of its blade and faster than the 650 !!- Granted - in tough going the 650 would out perform the 764
Puppy dog that's not afraid of change.
Man that is some wide open territory there

so far it just looks like an expensive ATV with Mat traks. I'm not impressed. Big machine and little blade.
Except you're the one who said it was an expensive ATV with mat traks and that you weren't impressed. You're the one catching on.
