Thank you for doing this, Nancy! I'm just returning to college and it's been *some time* since I had high school calculus, which I am now taking in college. Thank you *so* much.
Thank you for the introduction to limits. One your special teaching techniques in many videos is covering common types of errors. Thanks for 'steering us away from the rocks'. In this video you also clarified the objective is the 'approaching value' of the limit and not where the hole may or may not end up. Great help.

Great job of filling in the missing dots from the text book and lectures of the course on this topic. Excellent supplement to the course material. It always seems like there is one small piece of critical information missing that hinders me from successfully working the problems from the course material.
You framed the insanity of the limit perfectly. You state as most instructors state "we don't care what's happening at the point only that we are approaching some number from the left and right". Students are gullible and say ok. Then instructors come right back and prove the existence of the derivative by using a limit when a derivative cares ONLY about that point. You actually gave the common sense definition of a limit: the limit, in this case, is the midpoint. One could rightfully and logically argue that you are approaching an infinite number of values on either side of the point even if you are infinitesimally close to the point, which the student isn't supposed to care about. This approach method makes sense ONLY if you are approaching EQUALLY from both sides which makes the limit both a derivative and a midpoint. Fermat proved this with his adequalities.
Thank you so much, Nancy, Really liked your video explanation. Always struggled in calculus just bc I never understood Limits in depth. But this was great for someone like me who had many doubts about this topic.

I just finished my first online CALC class 30 mins ago and was kind of confused about limits. Thankfully I found your video and it cleared my misunderstanding of what the limit was. There were two limit answers like you said such as 3 & 4. The resulting answer would just be DNE (Does not exist). I also didn't understand how to find them at first until you said to follow the line from left or right to the point to calculate the limit. Thank you really for making these informative videos. Without them surely lots more other people like me would have not been able to understand this topic!
