vivek starting a podcast for doge is very smart and is a better move than a lot understand. A lot of the success of doge is going to be based on public opinion. Its going to be a war for the publics opinion and the fake media is going to do their best to make the cuts seem like they are killing people. Having a podcast is going to help counter the attack on cuts they need to make. It will give vivek time to explain what and why we are making these cuts. Under rated idea for sure

Chamath has an amazing ability to break down complex topics into digestible, thought-provoking points that really make you question the status quo. His perspective on the intersection of technology, leadership, and governance is both refreshing and inspiring. It's rare to find someone who combines humor, intelligence, and authenticity so effortlessly, but Chamath does it brilliantly. This episode is a must-listen for anyone interested in understanding the bigger picture of how innovation and responsible decision-making can shape our future. Can't wait to hear more from you! 👏

Forget a Flat Tax. Get rid of all income-type taxes that punish production. Get rid of the IRS by switching to a national sales tax. No more IRS and no more filling out tax forms every year or quarter. You only pay a federal tax when you buy something (except for food) and then start lowering that tax as you cut the Fed's spending.

    • @Deadeye313
      @Deadeye313 21 วันที่ผ่านมา +10

A sales tax is incredibly regressive and hurts poor people the most.
Poor people already don't pay an income tax because they don't have money to give the government beyond what they need just to survive. So, going from paying no income tax to a national sales tax would be a tax increase on those people.
We should instead have a tax system that spreads wealth more. Higher taxes on corporate income but lower on payroll. Or a higher income tax on corporations the closer their median income is to minimum wage. Punish Walmart and anyone else who thinks putting their workers on food stamp absolves them any liability. Their taxes can be higher than the tax cost to give their workers food stamps.
I would also like to see a mandatory profit sharing system in place for large corporations. Give the employees some actual skin in the game and shield employers from shareholders who want cost cutting at all costs or they sue.
The gap between the top and bottom of the barrel is as unsustainable as the national debt. If we cut all of our government services in the name of giving corporations more tax breaks, we might as well just stop fooling ourselves and become an oligarchy with corporations in charge and everyone else is serfs.

At minute 20:18 they start talking about regulation and the incentives that the politicians have to keep them there. It’s interesting that they don’t see that electing a businessman to run the country might not be a good idea because of the incentives. They talk like they themselves want to run the country. Greed got to their heads.

ALL subsidies and tax write-offs to the private sector corporations should be stopped. Private businesses need to stand on their own two feet and pull themselves up by their bootstraps. Shut down their lobbyists so they cannot keep running to the government for money and favors. This will shrink our National debt.

Here we have 4 guys in love with their opinions and confirming each other's biases. Nobody really believes that all regulations are great or that there isn't waste in government spending, but to use an example like building homes without acknowledging that there are many safety regulations in construction that actually save lives makes this whole conversation seem unserious. Chamath admits he isn't really hurt by regulations but wants to tear them all down because it will be a major boost to the economy. But as soon as the stories start coming out about some project that wasn't done right and it cost lives or major harm to the environment the momentum will start to shift the other way. We need to be judicious with our regulations and with the removal of regulations. These boys seem like a bunch of kids that just broke into a candy store and think they've found heaven. What this podcast is missing is intelligent opinions on the opposite side of the discussion. That could bring about some fruitful information. I'm not saying that I disagree with everything being said here but just remember that eating too much candy only makes you sick.

When people can bring home what they work for, it will motivate more people to join the workforce and also be responsible for managing their own luxury expenses.

Excellent podcast. One slight tweak to the discussion on inflation. The conversation framed inflationary pressures in a binary tradeoff, either inflationary price increases or interest rate increases. There is an important third option, less government spending. Lower spending decreases overall demand, slows debt increases, and potentially stimulates private enterprises while reducing the money supply. Inflation has a single source, government printing money at a faster rate than the economy can digest it.

As I listened to you all a phrase from my youth 60+ years ago came to mind. ChatGPT helped me recall its origin:
The phrase “That government is best which governs least” is often attributed to Henry David Thoreau, though it originally appeared in an essay by John O’Sullivan, a journalist and editor, in the 1830s. Thoreau later echoed the sentiment in his famous 1849 essay, Civil Disobedience, where he used a variation of the quote to critique government overreach and advocate for individual conscience.
Once again we’re reinventing the past … and good for us!
Would you like to explore its meaning further?

Well, Putin can draw his red lines for Ukraine while he attacks every day in mass deep into Ukraine using drones from Iran? Often against civilian infrastructure. While they deploy masses of soldiers from North Korea?
It doesn’t make any sense that an attacker can dictate the terms on which the attacked country can use its weapons. That they can do whatever they want but insist to feel save not far from their border. Save to concentrate troops, operate their aircrafts.
I understand that it’s inconvenient for the US but there is so much at stake and something completely new.
A nuclear power is attacking a country without nukes and threatens that country and everybody who helps with a nuclear attack. They do this all the time since the beginning of the war.
This has never happened before. There have been plenty of conflicts before, you could even win against superpowers and not get nuked because those weapons were off the table.
If Russia is allowed to do this, so many countries will arm themselves with nukes as it’s clearly the only way to protect sovereignty.

Lack of knowledge on public display regarding Russia-Ukraine. Russia issued multiple red lines (no US missiles period into Russia, no lethal weaponry supplying, no providing old Soviet tanks to Ukraine, no ATACMs versus Russian troops, etc.). Ukraine is an established ally and provided 1650 in the US's idiotic invasion of Iraq (meanwhile, none were provided from Israel's military). Russia has been encroaching with an aim to annex Ukraine (as well as Georgia) for some time now. The invasion into Ukraine is not sure to succeed provided that current measures are kept up. The ruble has fallen to less than a penny recently and the Russian Economy is hampered in multiple ways. BRICs may go through, but Russia can't even get India and China to trade in rubles, and whatever myths are wafting about regarding gold reserves fail to take into consideration that Russia's known gold reserves are less than Italy's. China's and Russia's together add to just over half the known gold reserves of the US, and China is entering economic hardship and is poised on the precipice of serious demographic difficulties.

you are defo under american propaganda. If you would read multiple sources, including pro-russian and pro-eurpopean, you would understand that the situation is not that harsh for both regimes. In fact, russia pointed out only 2 red lines that were announced in peace talks in Istanbul in jul 2022. Both of them were crossed, so AllIn guys are not wrong. By mentioning unofficial red lines it is YOU who are showing a lack of knowledge. Moreover, the situation in front is quite stable. Right now there are present only kursk counter-offensive and pokrovsk direction and russia is succeeding in both them. Despite that, there are no quite a breakdown in the front, as there are yet no big offensives like Kharkiv reinvasion, which could've taken place in summer 2024. I admit that Biden is doing a moderate job to keep Ukraine up tight so far, but the claim about collapsing russian economy is audacious. Russia succeeded in building their own internal ecosystem and lowered their dependence from the foreign companies that flooded Russia back in the 90s. Russian economy is pivoting from raw materials export to produce more advanced things like military devices and cars. Same goes for China. Although I admit that China has already reached their peak, they will be still growing at 5-6% annually while keeping investments as the main source of their gdp. It is true that both countries experience demographic hardships, but that is more like a trend than exception nowadays (EU aging rate is higher than China's fyi, and fertility rate of the US is below 2 as well). Therefore, there will be no "doom" for those countries, not in the near future. What could be possible is that we will advance to the third stage of the cold war, where China will be fighting the US as an equal, not as an underdog.
