Thank you SO much, Barb, for this tutorial! I have cross stitched several stockings in the past, but was always too afraid to try the final sewing of my work to make an actual stocking. Yours is beautiful! I am just finishing mine today and am impressed with myself (but with a huge thanks to you for your guidance). Merry Christmas and keep stitching and sharing your talent!
I’m so glad you took the leap and tried it. It’s actually fairly easy to do. Merry Christmas!
Thank you for this tutorial! I'm super picky and couldn't find a stocking finish that I was a fan of until this one. It's great! I've done 6 using this finish so far. Lots more to go!
@@horseanddiver I’m thrilled to hear this! Thanks so much for taking the time to leave feedback. I almost didn’t put this video out because the filming wasn’t the best but I had several people I promised it to. I figured I can redo it the next time I’m ready to finish a stocking. Merry Christmas!
Barb,
Thank you so much for this video! 10 years in the making and I finished the stocking in time for Christmas. I could not have done it without your video. Huge hugs! Thank you so much!
Wonderful! Thanks so much for letting me know that it helped. That makes me happy!
Beautiful stockings you have made and finished!
This was absolutely wonderful! Thank you so much!!
Thanks for the nice comment. Glad you found it helpful.
Great tutorial! I give you an A+. Your grands are lucky kiddos!
I did it! My Mom cross stitched stockings for my grandkids and passed them off for me to finish. I am a very basic beginner , seamstress... like buttons and straight-ish lines. I finished 2 stockings with your tutorial. Thank you so much.
Thanks for letting me know. I’m so glad it made enough sense for a beginning seamstress to find it helpful. Good job!
Good morning Barb. I always enjoy your videos and this one is no exception. I think your instruction is clear and easy to follow. Thanks for taking the time to teach your method. Looking forward to your next video. Take care and God Bless.
Very nice video!! Thank you for taking the time to share this with the community! Take care 💜
Great job Barb! It’s gorgeous!
Thank you so much!
Thanks, Barb. Maybe now I’ll try to finish the stocking I have. You gave so many great tips - thanks again.
Thank you for sharing how you finish your stockings. Some great tips! I like how you baste the sewing line first as a guide. I have yet to finish a stocking, so this was very helpful!
Beautiful stocking thank you for sharing your tutorial have a wonderful day and happy stitching 😊🧵🪡🤗🤩
Thank you Barb for your tutorial.
You made that look easy and the stocking is beautiful! Thank you Barb for the great tutorial. 😊
Great tutorial! Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time to do this for us. It's always nice to learn something new and this is perfect timing for me. I'm finishing up my blackbird design Christmas stockings so I'm very excited to give this a try. Happy stitching and thanks again :)
Great tutorial! I followed along step by step to finish the first stocking for the oldest grandchild! It turned out perfect!!! Thank you!
I’m so happy to hear that. Thanks for sharing and glad the video helped. Merry Christmas!

Thanks sooooo much!! You made this much easier than I thought.
@@lajeanchance so glad I could help!
So glad you showed this. I’m stitching Olga’s Autumn Stocking and have been worried about the finishing, this will really help! Thanks so much! Your stocking is beautiful, what a treasure.❤
I think it was a good video. The stocking is beautiful. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Going to try this! Thank you so much for the information. Super excited to git r dun! TL
Hope it goes well for you. Good luck!
This was great, Barb! Thanks! I'll probably never do a big stocking like this, but I picked up some tips for assembling some mini stockings I have. Preston's stocking came out great, and I loved seeing the other stockings you made for the grandkids! What treasures you have made for them!
Your stocking is beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing this finishing technique. I think I can finish my Plum Street Fall stocking now; I have been so scared I would mess is up. I think I can do it now.
You are so welcome! You can do it. Once you start it’s not really that hard. Good luck!
I have been so nervous to try making things with my cross stitch but this video was a great shot of confidence thank you! I am doing small ones so I hope to be done by Christmas haha
Hope you’ve had good luck. If you’re really nervous about trying to finish something, take some scraps of fabric and practice first before you cut into your stitching. Hope you’ve been successful!
Tjank you so much!!
Thanks for taking the time to make this tutorial. I just finished stitching my first stocking and was hoping to find to find an easy finishing method. ❤
Hope it helps and good luck!
Thanks for your tutorial on finishing a stocking. I’ve finished stockings before but it’s always good to ‘compare notes’ with others. I’m happy to say I do the finishing the same way you do. I do use a pinking shears to trim my seam allowance and clip the curves. I’m always leary about using a scissors and clipping into the seam allowance as I’m afraid of clipping into the stitches. Thanks for sharing your technique!
Thanks for watching!
Thank you Barb!
Great tutorial! If I ever make a stocking I know how to finish it!
Hi Barb! This month I’m planning on working on my Enchanted Ornament Stocking by Demensions and I’m thankful for this tutorial! I would very much love to get a stocking under my belt as I have yet to complete one. Now with your help I feel confident I can do so.
Thank you for taking the time to make it, this is great!!
Thanks, Barb! I’ve not had a stocking to finish yet but I feel like I could one now! I lied! I have Olga’s stocking to do … I cannot be trusted you know!!!! Cheers 🎉
You can do it!
I seem to have missed joining the top of the stocking and lining together? So, pull lining up over the stocking, right sides together, THEN stitch them together round their tops??
Sorry. I know it was a bit scattered. Yes you sew lining and stitched pieces together all around the top. Eventually you will turn both right sides out through the hole you left in the lining and then stuff the lining into the stocking after you whipstitch the opening closed. Hope this helps.
@@LostinFloss thanks for explaining, that makes sense! Love your stocking! I'm now trying to see if I could do something similar (smaller tho!) with Prairie Schooler Santas! 😃
Hey Barb, what ct do you recommend for your stockings?
The first one I did was 18 count and I struggled a bit but that was before I knew about lighting and magnification! If you use those things I don’t think there’s all that much difference between the 16 and 18. Personally I’ve done three on 16, one on 18.
Did I miss how to sew the tops together?
I missed it too
