oh now I understand! I thought he said he left his wife, but now I get it...he lost his wife😢 wow. yes what an awesome loving and caring community for him to be in! I really like that.
I am wondering if someone with extra land can let him live on their property on at least 1 to 3 acres and help him out for at least 3 to 10 years free and help him with his legal battle to get his home back and let him grow a garden and have pets and build a work shop or shed and just be there to provide a lovely calm safe clean happy kind Christianly home. This man needs love and caring and compassion and HELP immediately as this is so wrong to see our elders in suffer like this all alone. Churches need to step up and do something and start helping our homeless senior citizens. This is heartbreaking and we dont need to pity him we need to all pitch in and figure out how we can all donate and save him and help him survive this harsh weather. These men are such sweet gems and their humility warmth intellect and character speaks volumes. We can all learn a lot from our elders and it is time to get creative and help our fellow man. God bless these fine amazing gentlemen!
I honestly wasn't expecting much from outward appearances. Then my eyeballs popped out of my head when we got our first look inside! What a sweet rig. And Gene, you look like 62, not 82!
Gene did a beautiful job! Such a pitiful thing to hear another story of someone in their 80's unable to afford to continue to live in their home. I'm so happy Gene has found a supportive community.
I feel sick at heart when I hear about people like Gene losing their homes. I'm so happy he got out there and joined a caravan and went to the campfire. You'll always have a home with the Nomads and now you're one of them Gene. Welcome Home my friend! ❤🤗❤ You have a really nice home on wheels Gene. What a great build. 😀❤👍🏻
It wasn't his home, it was still the banks home. And that's the problem. He said he went from 3 checks to one, and when something like that happens, that's it, your done. But you are right, it SHOULDN'T happen at 82 years of age.
General Zod no life is ever just easy, just the way it is. But its better to bring your joy to circumstance Than to let circumstance dictate your joy or youre wide open for defeat. In his 80s my dad was battling cancer, stressed over a reverse mortgage an the fear his wife would wind up losin the house, stressed over dr bills UNTIL he was reminded of the fact that stress an sorrow would only make matters worse. He stopped askin "if these are the golden years an lifes a bowl of cherries, why am i in the pits?" he recalimed his life by simply accepting what he couldnt change. He raised me with "you cant always get what you want. Be glad you got what you need" so it was me that delivered the reminder to him on a night he was tempted to just keep cryin an lettin his circumtance steal his joy. Dr diagnosed "3 mos to a year", my dad managed to ride that wave well for 3 more YEARS. It was one of the hardest things i ever did the night i reminded him "nobody else can do it for you" but he deserved it since that advice he gave me, although at times was a tough pill to swallow, had served me well. God really does provide us the ability to be other than bitter an sad, this world doesnt need more houses , it needs more love an sometimes it can seem very hard to share that but its worth it to care not only about others but also ourself. Im happy for this 82 yr old in the vid. He is enjoying sunrises.
Hi gene. Your truck looks super great. You got a talent. A gift of hands. Beautiful job on the woodwork. So sorry about whhat you went through. Loosing the house and 2 other checks. But dont ever give up. Pray.pray.pray. jesus is always with you and all of us. He is always on time. He will certainly make a way for you. You will gain strength from all thata you have to deal with. All of us to. You certainky did the right thing joining a caravan. Meeting new people. Making friends. Sharing phone numbers. Also e.mail addresses shared to. It might take some getting use to. But the nomad life is super wonderful. Experiencing the freedom is the 1st. Thing to recognise. Where ever you go your home is always with you. If you have a flat tire. Your home is with you. No cab expense to pay. No waiting on a bus. No waiting on someone for 2 or more hours to stop by to get you. In your travels to save gas. Stay close to the inner city. Travel less and not a lot. Plenty of shadey trees daytime and at night pick out 7 places for sleeping nightime. Different tho. Apts and resturants. Businesses of loadind docks with 18 wheelers parked to be loaded. Nobody working. Etc. At apts. Park at the exit gate area. Back row before closing of the office about 5 min til 6pm. When the office closes the gates will close to lock up for the night. Uaually the gates will open at 7am.then leave. Off to whatever you need to do. Just thinking of you also everyone to. Im sure bob has much informatio to give you. Prayers is with you gene and bob also everyone. And all the nomads and nomad eannabes to. Im 75 yrs. Old. Been in stinking apts. For 47 yrs. Im a nomad wannabe to. But what stops me is a hard headed husband that doesnt understand anything about freedom happiness. Saving money. Being our own boss. No rent. Peace of mind. Eating better. Camping out. Join a planet fitness center. Planning early for the next locations to go to. Truck stops to. Locations of laundrymats. Etc. May god bless you all and much love to all. Also love that bob and cody and brian. Happy travels. Keep us posted. Thank you all.a big fan jan from texas. I dont have a emergency fund. And i need a dream van to get. Love those vans. It woul cost about 40.000.00 for my van. Cuz i will live permanently ready to be happy for the rest of my life and my husband to. He needs to wake up and smell the coffee of how important nomad life is. Im ready. Been ready for 5 yrs. Now. Also many thanks and a lot of love to bob for his videos. My favorite one is his life story of how he got started as a nomad. It has a beautiful picture of his beautiful handsome face only on the video. Its a must see. Anyone can do this. Low income and more. Just get out there and do it. You will be glad you did. Do little steps. Go camping. Stay as long as you want. If anyone tells you to not do it. Tell them you will do this for yourself. You have a few dreams. Have the experience of a wonderful different kind of life. If you are solo. Dont be afraid. Have no fear jesus is here. The devil wants everyone to live in fear. Think jesus.he will make a way. And pray. For you all. Amen. Amen. Amen. Prayers is with you all.
My heart hurts for Gene!! At 82 years old, losing his wife and home, it's sad!!! I'm so glad he found friends. Prayer for Gene, thank you Bob for sharing! God bless you both 🙏❤️
@IOXAN PHENOMENON Friends are the family we create. At least in my experience. There is a big difference between relatives and family. My "family" and I do not share the same DNA.
“I lost so much, I just gotta hit the road” this man said. I’ve lost a lot myself, and I can feel the pain in someone else when I hear them say things like that. Somehow, over the past two years full timing, and being on the road, I learned to use all that pain as propellant. A positive force to fuel me on my journey through the west. I’m only 40 years old, but I lost everything good that I had in my life too not long ago. So I hit the road. Like so many of us have. 13 states, 9 national parks, and 10,000+ miles later, my own life is unrecognizable to me at times. I have seen so much beauty in this country, and met so many kind people it is just unbelievable. Thank you Bob Wells. Thank you a thousand times. Thank you for helping me. Without you, and the stories of the people out there that you shared with me, I wouldn’t have had the courage to take the first step. Now I’m on the other side of the country, in a 40-year old travel trailer…and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done in my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏❤️ perhaps our paths will cross at some point in the future and I can tell you all about it in person!
Como você consegue dinheiro para se alimentar, abastecer o veículo, manutenção do veículo e dinheiro para os extras que aparecem durante o percurso ? Parece simples a primeira vista mas é preciso bastante dinheiro o preço do galão está bastante caro.
I wish I could hit the road. I've lost my dad, my pup, and then my home. I was forced to move in with my sister. It was kind of her to take me in but I really wanted my own space & so here i am waiting for the day that I can hit the road. I have to stay stationary for work ya know. I was not fortunate to find a job where i could work remotely. I have my dads truck and a few clothes. Everything else is in storage. Its about to all be sold come spring. This story inspires me to know that its not too late for me to live the nomad lifestyle. Im 51 now and I know someday soon I'll get my chance too!
I know exactly what he is going through in his life. My wife and I are both disabled and are on a very limited income and we're forced to become full time rivers, the most painful part was leaving a home with years of memories. The best part is we still have each other and we were immediately welcomed by others in the same predicament we are in. Great job he did on his camper. The best of luck to him. Safe travels, and God bless.
If U don't mind my asking, how do you deal with your doctors n meds, etc on the road? I'm on disability n trying to figure things out; I'll be on my own after losing my better half in '18. Thanks n safe travels.

I am 81 years old and I really like your setup. I have a house, with a reverse mortgage, but things are getting out of hand on paying all the bills and I am not for sure I can hang on to it. You have given me some great ideas, thank you.
I had the great honor and privilege of spending 5 months this past winter with Gene and friends in the desert, part of it with the HOWA caravans. We had a great time together, especially hanging out at the campfires. The Nomad community is awesome. Gene, I hope to meet up with you again soon.
Hi! I’m Gene’s friend who told him he’d love the desert - the comments here are blowing him away - in a very good way! Thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️ for being so welcoming and kind!!
I really love this guy. Probably my favorite "CheapRVLiving" video. When faced with adversity he makes the most of it. His camper is simple and efficient. Minimalist beauty at its finest! And his attitude and spirit make him that much more loveable.
I had the privilege of camping with Gene in the caravan last winter. He is a great guy with a wonderful, wry sense of humor. He’s also an excellent landscape photographer. Great to see the video and hope to see you down the road again Gene!
Ya, cool guy, humble, nice looking man. My boyfriend and l hitch hiking through Europe in our early 20’s, ended up hanging out with seniors at every camp ground. Age wasn’t an issue. These people had some cool tales to tell. I trust you’ll meet all kinds of people who’d be privileged to have you as a friend, Gene. Real travellers and thinkers don’t think of age differences.
It pains me to hear this man is going through such an ordeal at his age. Fortunately he looks young and strong. Happy to hear this camper-life turns out to be "surprisingly" nice for him!
I was watching this for a second time and thinking the same thing . I hope he is still moving forward and enjoying life in his nice little home on wheels.💙
I often forget, some people are walking around with tremendous loss- maybe their spouse or loved one died, maybe a big financial loss... And when I see these videos it reminds me to be patient and kind. Thank you for sharing his story and ones like it 🙂
Gene's truck is so functional, tidy and it feels spacious! I hope he is doing very well after a year. He is a young 82 year old...I loved it when he referred to 55 year olds as "young kids" - that was so nice to hear! Thanks!
What a great build! The carpentry’s very professional looking, very clean, organized and spacious! Kudos on your choice of a new lifestyle, rather than throwing in the towel. I wish you all the best and hope all trails lead to happiness for you.
What a lovely man. I'm inspired by both his interest and ability to travel like that at 82. Incredible. Don't assume, my friends, that you will be similarly fortunate! "We never know until our next breath, if this breath is our last." Live each day like the miracle that it is.
Thank you Dave, I couldn’t agree more about living for today. I do feel very fortunate to be healthy enough to do this. Thank you again for your comments.
It must feel like so much weight lifted off that man to be able to find people who understand his situation and relate to in this hard period in his life. Thank you all in the caravan for showing this man some kindness and relief that he isn't alone.
The older generations are showing the way by their resilience, creativity and courage, God bless and keep Gene and may he have many more years of adventures 🙏 ❤
You have given me another path to follow. My wife passed away 37 months ago and I too, are struggling to survive on CPP&OAS + a small company pension. This is something that I have been tempted to do for over 10 years. This has accelerated my plans. I thank you for this.
@@majlis2238 Thanks. I believe that I can. Just need to replace a few of my tools that were sold off when we sold our last house. I have a DIY Truck Camper build book and having done increasingly extensive renovations of houses over our life together to please my wife, I don't lack for experience.
Fellow Canadian, don't waste any more time. If you have a vehicle, you'll set it up for a change of life and freedom. Our Country needs to have less rules and regulations so that people with alternate lifestyles can find a place to stay, for the night. They are so behind the U.S., and look at all the land space in Canada. Keep well. Heather Ontario 🇨🇦
Gene did a beautiful job with his truck camper. I hope he can find the energy to return to the house and sort through it, sale and get rid for anything he no longer needs. I pray he has many great years as a nomad. Thank you Bob for another great tour.
Seeing this 9 months after the posting of it. Here is the reality of life - oh how things change. I hope Gene is still doing well and enjoying his nomad life. What a great rig! If you see this Gene, May The Lord give you strength and peace until you meet your wife again. I still have my wife after 38 years of marriage and I can’t imagine life without her - though at 62, I’m daily mindful of the reality that all of us will die someday. God bless you and all the others who deal with life’s highs and lows out there.
A gentl, humble man. As a trucker, he will fit into this lifestyle, beautifully. He is appreciating his life more than ever because, as he says, he controls his destiny. What an awesome thought for those of us, secretly wishing we could change places. His rig setup is amazingly solid and versatile. His camping past has given him the knowledge to know what he needs for his home on wheels. He really wants for nothing. I hope you will revisit him because it will be interesting to see if he decided to stick with Nomad life. He has been sensible about acquiring one thing at a time. Let's face it, we can't take all the crap we gather, over the years, when the good Lord calls us home. This is clean living. I wish him nothing but the best, for the rest of his life and, pray he doesn't give up on Nomad life and freedom. Thanks Bob, as always, another awesome show and tell.❤ Heather Ontario 🇨🇦
What a wonderful video for me. I am 79 and in a few weeks, I will be leaving to become a Nomad. I have done as much research as possible. But, this video gave me courage and hope that I can do this. I am afraid of so many things. But knowing he could do this at his age was so helpful. I hope I meet him on the road! Thanks for the video.
Feral Cat I am 72 and plan on heading out this Nov. We are all the same I guess but this video and Gene sure does give us encouragement, you are correct. I hit the National Forests in my car coming home from Colorado, after watching grandkids for school year (priceless) in a little Honda Accord. Bought a privacy tent etc. just to get a taste of what it would be like. That trip home helped solidify that I had to do this. Mt Rushmore was awesome. The peace and beauty was great everywhere along with the Wild life. Sleeping in my car wasn't ideal but waking to things like Buffalo grazing in a field to my north and the beauty of the badlands to the south was an experience I enjoyed, won't forget and look forward to ! And the new full time and part time rv-ers out there were great to talk to and every single one said don't hesitate, get out here you won't regret it !
Smart choice, Gene. Keep on truckin. One day at a time, trusting in the Almighty!! It all works out, I know that for a fact. Super video, thanks to you and Bob showing how it can be done!!
Me too. 83 and counting. Old pickup with used tow trailer. retired long haul trucker, wife died 2 years ago.. No debt. Gave home to my son to sell or keep. No one to do stuff for any longer, so I'm looking for my sunset. Coffee still tastes good. your story is an inspiration. I think I'll take a nap. Oil Can
Gene's story of being immediately welcomed into a group. 5 minutes around a fire and you have a whole new world of friends hits me. That is exactly what happened to me rolling into Slab City as a broke 20 something. I stumbled into a community stronger than I have ever experienced as an American. Pretty rare in our over worked society. To go out and make some damned new friends is a revolutionary act. Good travels!
I'm in the rat race but grew up rural. A lot of people around me didn't have a lot, but when I was a kid, the ones easiest to be around were the folks who didn't think every minute of their time was too valuable to share with anyone else unless they could get something out of it.
Awww, Gene tugged on my heart-strings, both his story and the fact that he REALLY reminds me of my Dad who passed away in December. I hope all goes well for him out there and I would definitely want to sit around a campfire with him.
This guy has everything he needs right there. He’s done an amazing job on the van. And he can travel and see America too. I wish him the best of luck, from Scotland 👍
I loved seeing this. I'll admit that man has more fight and life in him at 82 than I do at half his age. It makes me realise my life doesn't need to be over at 40 because things haven't gone the way I've wanted until now.
I am 40. Feel like i wasted my life. Worked hars 80 to 120 hours a week for many yeara. 2 divorxe 3 child 2 alimony. Got chronic disease, lost everything went on the street. I am back in an appartment and i jave a job. But i have no vision for my future. I am always tired. And have no motivation for nothing. So i guess what i am trying to say is, you are not alone.
@@celuiquipeut6527 Hey man, stay positive, away from drugs and have faith. Its gonna come together for you, ask yourself what you want and go get it , it may mean leaving a city for a simpler life but thats a decision only you can make. truly wish you the best.
At an age where you find that your health is in it, and the things that bring peace are in it like the sunrise in the desert, my prayers go out for you and him, to receive joy and fulfilment in all your life and travels with favor.
Sorry for Gene's loss. Was looking at his rig and it's a beaut, So much storage space! And glad he was blessed to find a welcoming caravan. That makes all the difference in the world! He's living another good life with Friends who care- this means Everything! 👍♥️🙏
This has my brain swirling! One thing that was not spoken of was the pass-through to the cab, but for a woman this is an important safety feature. The ability to make a quick getaway cannot be overstated! Love Gene's set-up, it's really perfection. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
That’s why I don’t want to sleep in the bed of my pick up truck while on a road trip. I hear you, if necessary, I would like to be able to make a quick getaway too, without having to get out of the vehicle first. First off I have too much stuff in there so there won’t be any room anyway. And it’s too uncomfortable to sleep on the driver seat even with the seat reclined in my extended cab. I learned these things from my road trip to South Dakota in 2020.
@@TheDrewManGroup I have a firearm, but to not have to be hyper vigilant every minute would be a nice thing. My OPSEC game is strong , but path of least resistance is the goal.
Gene you need to contact an attorney and see if he can apply for an extension on your loan. That will at least give you some extra time to have the house listed for sale and see if you can get some money out of it or at least break even. Realestate prices are at an all time high and you might be able to payoff your reverse mortgage and make some profit. I certainly hope so. I am sorry for your loss and hope things work out for you. I love your rig, you really did a great job.
God Bless Gene. He is lucky he is as healthy as he is for 82. To be able drive, get around etc. A lot of 82 year olds couldn’t do this. Wow on top of being a truck driver, he is skilled at woodwork.
Man, watching this really makes me want more for this man... Im glad he's happy and everything but I guess I just wish all old folk were not alone and had all that they need... God be with and keep this man... Amen
I see this could possibly be me in another 8 years. 82 years old...but I'm glad I have no debt and a homestead. Good luck to you Gene. Looks wonderful. You won't be alone on the road as long as you have the community.
Gene inspires me! I’m hitting the road within 2 weeks after a year + of research and preparation. Bob your work matters! Also love the new Kody graphic!
What a beautiful man, inside and outside. You inspire me Gene. Your build is great. This system of control is coming down, so you’re ahead of the curve.
It is a real shame what those reverse mortgage people are doing to seniors with their predatory practises. I am glad he found a way out on the road, and a community of people to share his life with.
This was great! As a young man in the 1980s, I had the pleasure of doing 3 one year backpacking trips all over the world. I carried a two man tent, a thermal sleeping bag and a small cooking stove. The base of the tent was 6' x 6' and I'm six feet tall, so I would sleep diagonally, very comfortably. Now 63 I could be very happy living in that van with my little rescue dog.
Ok. This video did two things for me. It encouraged me to keep trying. I've been a little lonely the two winters I've been in AZ, but I've also made friends. The other thing this video did was spark the almost cold ember in me to help people. I would like to see if there are older people, especially women, who would like to try this but fear doing it alone, or need some help loading or preparations or brainstorming. That's it. I'm going to try to help people. It will help me, too.
That looked way nicer than I expected. Love the wood shelving. Here's a tip on finding stuff. I keep a small journal with tabs where I write various things regarding my living space (and other misc notes). I have one tab labeled, "Where is it?" :-) On the pages, I write headings referencing the area and box. Like, "Closet" and "Tote 1." Whenever I put (or change) anything in those spaces, (especially something I can't see or feel I might forget) I write it in that section of the journal. So when I start looking for or can't find something, I flip open my "Where is it?" pages. Note, write the headings in sharpee/pen and the contents in pencil (anything that you'll later need to erase/change when you re-locate an item).
I agree that it’s a great idea. Knowing me, though, I’m likely to forget to write it down initially or when I change it up. For instance, one of my cats takes medicine twice a day, and I was finding that I couldn’t remember if I had given it to her or not. So, I made a little chart with the idea to mark it each time I gave it to her. It is helping, but I have forgotten to check it off a few times after I had given her the medicine. Then, it’s “Did I forget to give her the medicine or did I just forget to mark it down?” However, it is helping. I am being more consistent. And I’m sure your tip would help also. I have pretty severe ADHD, which complicates a lot of things.
I'm 47 and I just started saving for retirement about 4 years ago. I'm going pretty aggressive right now, 20% of gross. I'd like to increase that but I'm also in school. I've been watching these videos because at some point I may need to do something like this when I retire to continue to pad my savings. I love seeing that these people are older and they are doing well! It makes me feel good, like I don't have to worry about living a traditional life. Hell, I could do this overseas if I wanted to!
I am in awe of the creativity. I'm 58 living in a double wide that is falling apart. My son doesn't want me living in an camper but all I hear from my 16 yr old twins is they want out on their own in 2 yrs. And my son is 30 and needs his own life. I'm a widow introvert no friends or family with several health problems. I love to travel so I've been watching your show for ideas.
It saddens me to hear his home situation in the possibility of losing it. But in life it seems when one door closes another will open. I wish this young man the best what kind soul! Beautiful home on wheels that he has built.
This situation could literally happen to any of us at some point. He planned, prepared himself well, did his research and built it right. May the universe guard his path, provide for his needs and keep that truck running!
I'm so happy for Gene. I can tell he feels comfortable and relaxed. The Bellaire seems to be a great fit for him. I didn't realize they were that spacious. He did a great job building it out to his likings. And yes, the campfire love. It seems he's caught the bug. This is wonderful . Spread your wings Gene. It's your time to fly free and enjoy life and your new friends. Oh how I miss RV-ing. I live in Hawaii and we're not set up for it. Plus you'd get dizzy going in circles. 🏝😄 Take care all. Aloha! 💞 🌿🌺🌿🌺🌿🌺🌿🌺🌿
It makes me proud to see elderly men and women using their experience and wisdom to make a home on wheels. As an older person myself, I get a bit sad as well at the thought of these older ones alone out there. But I know there is community, so that kind of gives me some peace. Be well. May God be with you.
FYI...The company that makes the truck camper shells for Bel-Air Camper Shells is called USA Camper Shells located in Montclair, CA and they are $3,500 instead of the marked up price of $4,500 from Bel-Air.
This is an inspiring look at the community that's available to self-sufficient freedom-loving people on the road. What a well organized and comfy home Gene has created for himself!
He has a very cool setup. Glad he's happy with moving on down the road :). Sad he's losing his home but maybe he'll feel more "free" now and not tied down. He seems healthy and agile for his age good to see he can do this type of lifestyle.
Gene, seems like a lovely man,I’m truly sorry for your loss, and the fact that his life is harder as a result of losing his precious wife, I hope to meet you Gene, when I get out on my future nomad life, after taking care of my 87 year old dad when the good lord takes him to live with him. May all your journeys be happy, safe, and healthy. Linda Luiacono💗🌈🙏🏻
What a great story and interesting guy. I’m appalled how we treat our seniors in North America. Good for him. While it might not have been in his plans, better than waiting to die in a congregate setting. I admire his resilience. And what a view!
What a dear man, I’m so sorry for the loss of his wife. Houses are over rated and lonely. It’s so nice he found a community to call home with like minded people who care…. And such a remarkable job he did on his rig 🙌. Good luck to you Gene and God Bless you sir.
Sue.... your so RIGHT. Houses are extremely lonely. How well I know. Fixing to sell my childhood home of 66 years. Killing me but I won't make it much longer if I don't make a change n make new friends...... sending love from Texas!!!!
WOW I TRULY LOVED THIS VIDEO, IM 65 AND BEEN LIVING ON THE ROAD FOR ABOUT 12 YRS NOW.... AFTER I LOST EVERYTHING THAT I HAD AND LOVED I WAS LEFT EMPTY AND BROKEN, I GAVE UP ON LIFE I BOUGHT A VAN AND BUILT A SMALL HOME, BUT IT WAS TOO LOW AND I COULDENT BARE THE PAIN IN MY BACK, AFTER TRYING A FEW DIFFERENT VEHICLES I AM NOW IN A 35YR OLD RV, ITS REALLY TOO BIG FOR ME SO IM SAVING TO TRY TO GET SOME THING A LITTLE SMALLER AND IN BETTER SHAPE..... I REALLY LOVE HIS RIG THAT WOULD BE PERFECT FOR ME, I PLAN ON BEING ON THE ROAD TILL I DIE AND IS I COULD LAST ANOTHER 20YRS ILL BE OK.... GOD BLESS ALL THE OTHER NOMADS OUT HERE, WE GOT A GREAT LIFE STYLE AND IT WORKS....
I'm 76, and was afraid I'm too old to start out on this way of life. Also, can't afford a fancy rig. This makes it look do-able. Thanks for the eye opener. And all the right questions & answers.
I like him. He did an incredible job with his build...I really like it. It's so sad that people lose their homes when they get older. I know for a fact that's what is going to happen to me. It's scary and I think we all should have some sort of alternative plan for the future. He was smart to do it one step at a time. I wish him the very best. Thank you for the tour of his well done beautiful home.👍😊
Great video! GENE, I miss you! I’ve tried to call a few times. Will keep trying. When you see area code 615 pop up, that’s me. Ps- I have had the honor of camping with Gene quite a bit. He really is as nice, kind and intelligent as he seems. And his rig is always just as tidy as in the video.
Wow! I love Gene and his story. He is such an inspiration to me and many others. It is so wonderful to see him happy and doing well. I turn 70 for this April and due to a couple of surgeries and cancer I am having to downsize everything. I sold my pull-behind travel trailer and truck. Now I drive a 2020 Chevrolet spark. I have bought a motorcycle camper called a Minimate by Kompact Kamp. It weighs 260 lb. I drove to myerstown Pennsylvania and picked it up where they are made. My little car did not even realize it was back there and no change significantly in gas mileage. I am curious as to what size jackery power bank that he has. Good luck Jane I'm headed west this coming winter I hope I run into you somewhere. Chiefonelung
I like Gene. I’m sorry to hear about the loss of his dear wife. I’m glad he’s found a welcoming community! ❤️
oh now I understand! I thought he said he left his wife, but now I get it...he lost his wife😢 wow. yes what an awesome loving and caring community for him to be in! I really like that.
Your reply is exactly what I was thinking about writing. I concur.
I like him, too. His rig is so organized and homey. What a great job he did! God bless him and his journey.

You have a really nice home on wheels Gene. What a great build. 😀❤👍🏻
It wasn't his home, it was still the banks home. And that's the problem. He said he went from 3 checks to one, and when something like that happens, that's it, your done. But you are right, it SHOULDN'T happen at 82 years of age.

Breaks my heart. This world is backwards. As we get older, it should/supposed to get easier for everyone.

What a beautiful attitude! Blessings

Did you get out on the road? How are things going?
If you get a chance let us know how things are going.

He is a rare gem. Someone comfortable in their own skin.
I love your comment, Trish. Honest and heartfelt.
Great idea. I think the worst , is when I tear the camper apart and then find what I was looking for in my rear pocket. Lol
Great idea. Thank you for sharing.

Then, it’s “Did I forget to give her the medicine or did I just forget to mark it down?”
However, it is helping. I am being more consistent. And I’m sure your tip would help also.
I have pretty severe ADHD, which complicates a lot of things.

Lo
Take care all.
Aloha! 💞

Amen ❤️❤️❤️
It makes me proud to see elderly men and women using their experience and wisdom to make a home on wheels. As an older person myself, I get a bit sad as well at the thought of these older ones alone out there. But I know there is community, so that kind of gives me some peace.
Be well. May God be with you.
With love from Serbia to old nomad Man.
Thank You for video!
God bless You!
What a sweet man. He has an impressive rig. I'm glad he found acceptance in the nomad community. Best wishes!
FYI...The company that makes the truck camper shells for Bel-Air Camper Shells is called USA Camper Shells located in Montclair, CA and they are $3,500 instead of the marked up price of $4,500 from Bel-Air.
Wow, wish I would have known that. Thk u very much
Way to go, Gene! Thanks, Bob, for continually bringing true life experiences to help others make informed decisions.
This is an inspiring look at the community that's available to self-sufficient freedom-loving people on the road. What a well organized and comfy home Gene has created for himself!
look how nicely he sanded all those wood edges. What a champ.
Wow, 82 yrs old and on the best adventure of his life. Wish him all the best. Canada
82 and still changing and living strong you are a beautiful gentleman , an inspiration to all of us in are elderly years .👩🏻🦳🌵🌈
This guy seems decades younger and his fit out is amazing- inspiring and so clean and neat. 😌
What a great outfit. You can tell that truck has been his pride for a long time. He’s got a fantastic attitude and I wish him much happiness.
He has a very cool setup. Glad he's happy with moving on down the road :). Sad he's losing his home but maybe he'll feel more "free" now and not tied down. He seems healthy and agile for his age good to see he can do this type of lifestyle.
I don't say this much here on TH-cam, but this was a heartwarming video. I thoroughly enjoyed watching! Wishing all the best to Gene!👍
A very fine gentleman and he seems to be very comfortable with his new lifestyle. Great video Bob.
Thank you Linda, looking forward to meeting you also. Thks again.
This is got to be my most favorite CRV Living video. ❤
I went to America and absolutely loved the desert, especially Arizona and Nevada. They are so peaceful and calming, and intensely beautiful.
I'm 63 and I'm getting ready to join ya'll out there on the roads
Hi Kathy. Thk you. Will look for 615
What an elegant and efficient design. This is the first truck design that's makes me think I could live in it.
Oct.2023. Hope he's still thriving.
