    Ammo released these paints here in Spain (their home country) a few weeks back. What you got is how they sell them, in multi bottle packs of 12 different colors each. Right now they are only selling them in two different packs, the ones you got, not as individual bottles. They seem to be aimed at wargamer figure painters, hence the colors, not model makers, and also why they spray and brush. I am not into that, but a friend is and he ordered the packs. He did a couple of figures and says they are great and much better for brushing than other paints, thinned or not. They have also introduced two new lines of paints here. A-stand, for airbrush only, that come in a variety of colors and finish types and Cobra paints for model cars that come in a big variety of car colors, along with special thinners for each. Each set sells for 20 euros or about $21.30 each.

    How long did the acrylic dry before you put the lacquer on it?

      I got last week the Cobra paints and used them. Cobra are automotive colors, and the ATOM are normal color like from Tamiya,Mr hobby etc. I am a Tamiya Laquer man. But those Cobra paints are making me lean over to the AMMO paints now. Normaly i sed Zero,Gravity or Streetblitsers Clearcoats, but the clearcoat from that Cobra line stinks as the rest,but the result is for sure at the same level as the big Brands. The best to use those paints is use a primer and let dry overnight.A few light coats with in between 2 hours of each coat then a wet coat,let it dry overnight, the the clearcoat. 1 Mistcoat specialy when there are decals with 10% Mr hobby leveling thinner,2th coat a bit thicker coat with another 10% Mr hobby leveling thinner,drying time 2 hours between the coats.3 th coat a good wet coat with again 10% Mr hobby leveling thinner. So in total at the end 30% extra leveling thinner. And a glossy shine as the famous diamond in a goats fill in the rest. Fully cured after 3 days.After the 3th coat,what you see is your endresult. That is how i did it. But AMMO has also instruction videos on youtube how to use the paints, sure the ATOM line will gets his own video also.

    That was a pretty harsh test spraying on naked white plastic but the paint seemed to perform very well from a coverage and laying down point of view. I would like to know how well it adherers to the plastic and whether it easily wears off. For a car like that I would be looking to put a a coat of primer down like the Tamiya rattle can primer that I know sticks really well to plastic and then paint on top of that.. If that was gloss paint I would be a little disappointed at the shine. The matt black went down very well though.

    • @animalyze7120
      @animalyze7120 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      True, most folks are shocked when they discover that primer isn't what they think it is. The smoother the surface the easier it'll stick, contrary to popular belief where folks think it's needs roughing up for paint to stick. That may work for water colors and oil based paint, Enamels, Lacquers and oftentimes Acrylics will stay on fairly easy with good prep alone.

    • @leroylong78
      @leroylong78 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Spraying a primer usually lacquer or enamel based if in a rattle can and then painting over with acrylics does not create any better bond than to plastic, since the two different paint types do not interact with one another. We spray primer on miniatures when we could in fact just use a couple mist coats of our base color before the final "color coat" to get the same result.
      Besides, why do people think there models are going to be passed around like a football and need automotive level protection? Mine go behind glass and basically stay there.

    I have tried several acrilic paints so far and AMMO is my first choice always. I think ammo acrilics are the best. Mr Hobby C paints are my second choice, only cos they are smelly and toxic. On other hand if you want to see bad acrilic paint try hataka (I put it into trash immediatelly after some tests).

      @@cnfuzz if it works for you, use it, but there are many better paints on the market. Hataka has got many criticism for their acrilic paints on web forums and from youtubers, and I agree with them. I managed to paint my models with "Red" hataka, but comparing to other brands like, AK, AMMO, Vallejo it is definetely worst.

    I wonder if this is primarily going to be an automotive paint finish line. Otherwise it seems kind of strange that they would come out with this as an alternative to their existing acrylic line. The number of new paint products coming out is hard to keep up with, if I have it right this is Ammo's 4th paint line that I can think of . Maybe 5th?

    • @animalyze7120
      @animalyze7120 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No his is gaming aimed which the names of the colors suggest. Using clears for the paint shine is bass ackwards anyways, enamels and lacquers are automotive grade. Acrylics are for toys and game things.

    Hello, nice vid but you only test propietary, dedicated thinner. I wonder if these paints work well with homemade thinner (mix of x% water + y% isopropyl alcohol, maybe with a bit of glycerine and dish soap). I will not ask about thinning it wit Mr.Color 400 levelling thinner, I guess this being a lacquer it would surely be a fiasco.
    Cheers.

    • @DavidMartinez-fq9eh
      @DavidMartinez-fq9eh หลายเดือนก่อน

      I ANSWER MYSELF: From what I have just seen in another vid, this ATOM paint is purely water-based. Thinning it with anything alcohol or lacquer will turn it into goo.
