I like Demolition Doofus, but it’s hated because both SpongeBob and Mrs. Puff were considered unlikeable, and Squidward was fine in Out of the Picture.
I grew up on the old seasons and up to around season 9 and many episodes like the mini golf episode and the episode you mentioned are great to me but it may just be nostalgia..

I didn't know "Paper" was overhated, in fact, I think is one of the funniest of Season 1. My pic for an overhated would be "The Card". Some people think this is a Spongebob's torture porn, but I highly disagree, since Patrick bought the card with HIS money, so Spongebob is loosing his mind for an item that is not his. Plus, the ways Patrick takes his life and the card at risk are funny and at the end he had the consideration of giving all the remaining cards to his friend, so he is not a sociopath that makes everyone else miserable on purpouse like some detractors of the episode point out.

I liked Out of the Picture. I can see why it's hated though.
A lot of the reasons why these episodes are terrible is due to bad writing, out of character characters, and needless mean-spiritedness like with Demolition Doofus. The only episode here that I actually agree with you on is The Paper, so much so that I really doubt lots of people hate it because I haven't seen ANY spongebob fan not like this episode. Perhaps you were looking at some forum or something, but I don't think what you saw represented how most people felt about this episode.
Also, there's three reasons to me as to why Demolition Doofus is treated differently than the other episode I forgot its name to. For one, Demolition Doofus was released during a time in which spongebob still had the smallest semblance of the show, so as a result, its more talked about because it feels like a terrible episode of spongebob, whereas the other episode was released during the new seasons which are known for being so dry and lifeless that they feel like a different show in a way. So it gets left behind because all the other episodes are very boring and lifeless.
Second, even though Mr. Krabs is out of character for wanting to kill Squidward, it somewhat makes more sense for him to do so because its for money, whereas Mrs. Puff knows that Spongebob is nervous of the road and it was never spongebob's intention to hurt her. Plus, spongebob is way out of character, so it makes her want to kill spongebob feel cheap and out of lazy writing. Also, Mrs. Puff is not a very selfish individual like Mr. Krabs, so her wanting to kill a student that she should know now is not actually bad and has some fear with the road, is very terrible for Mrs. Puff to do. She would NEVER do this whatsoever, even if she was driven crazy. She's may not be some lovely, benevolent, good person, but she's not a psychopath.
Thirdly, the episodes ARE different. Just because they both involve a character trying to kill another, doesn't mean they are close to the same. One is about a person getting so fed up with someone that they decide to try to get them out of their life through murder, the other is about killing someone for money. One's about greed, the other is about madness and desperation. So one obviously feels more serious. Sorry for the long comment, but I had too much to say and disagree about.
Demolition was so much fun and action packed for me I didn’t really care if Mrs puff wanted him dead

I know right, whenever I saw that episode when I was younger, I was not phased at how the splinter looked at all.
Maybe it would’ve been the case if the splinter itself wouldn’t have scarred and traumatised so many people.

Yeah I watched both “The Splinter” and the toenail scene as a kid and wasn’t phased by either. If anything I feel like adults are more disturbed by it than kids.
I agree with Overbooked. Patrick being a dick was hilarious. If anything, my main problem with the episode is why the heck SpongeBob randomly stole a car at the end.

The Paper was a good episode, it may not be shown a lot because it was coincided with the Valentine’s Day episodes, but I enjoyed it.

I have to say the only episode I agree with you is #2. I really don’t get what people have against it, I think it’s quite a classic.
As for #1, I think it absolutely deserves to be hated that much, but you have a point when competing it to "Out of the Picture". And honestly, yeah, I hate this episode too. Both episodes are the absolute worst of each season for the exact same reason. And also, why do they keep making us think SpongeBob can’t drive while he managed to drive very well when Mrs. puff chases him off and even using a truck in #3 (I really cannot believe only now I figured it out)? I know SpongeBob isn’t keeping continuity straight, but come on, that’s basic stuff.
House Fancy is a contender. Come on man, the toenail isn’t THAT bad, and Squidward wins.
I consider Out Of The Picture to be a fantastic episode. Because it’s one of the only Squid torture episodes where the episode is against the torturer, in this case, Mr Krabs. Also, if people hate on SpongeBob characters killing each other and themselves, then why aren’t they actively against Life Insurance? That episode is just Squidward constantly trying to kill himself because he believes his life insurance will save him. Surely the community has an overall negative opinion!
As for my picks on overhated episodes, I’d say any and every SpongeBob torture episode, like The Card and Little Yellow Book. I don’t get it. I just don’t. Episodes like Breath of Fresh Squidward and Cephalopod Lodge made me hate SpongeBob and love his torture episodes, while the community just pretends that SpongeBob never did anything wrong to deserve the torture. Even though they use lines and footage from older episodes to show how flanderized a character is, like the scene in One Coarse Meal where SpongeBob refuses to step on Plankton because “it flies in the face of his good nature”, or the entirety of Big Sister Sam since Patrick doesn’t have a sister according to his line in Something Smells. BOFS and Cephalopod Lodge made me hate SpongeBob! WHY DIDN’T IT MAKE YOU?!

For me, all of them except for Demolition Doofus, are actually really good episodes. As for Demolition Doofus, I hate that episode SO MUCH and it deserves every bit of the hate it gets in my opinion.

I haven't seen some of these, but didn't know the paper would appear, kind of amazed of that... If i had an unpopular opinion is that i don't like the ending of naughty nautical neighbors very much.

The Paper, and Squidtastic Voyage are pretty alright. ^^
Heres how i would do the list:
5: Smoothe Jazz At Bikini bottom(still a bottom 10 episode, but not THE worst episode of the show)
4: Ink Lemonade(This episode doesnt even crack the bottom 30 in my opinion, still Abysmal, not one of the worst)
3: Slide Whistle Stooges(Now we reach the episodes, i like. Even as someone who is on the spectrum, the slide whistles didnt bother me at all, besides i just thought it was funny)
2: Greasy Buffons(This and my number 1 pick, are both in my top 100, just a hilarious, entertaining episode!)
1: Frozen Face Off(Yeah, this top 30 epispde has been called worse than waiting, I love this episode so much.)

Squidward's psycotic break at the end, spongebob being insanely creepy turning his house into an exact replica of squidwards, stealing something to make someone go to your house to get it back, squidwards punishment as his house is ruined because he got trapped in the labyrinth all because spongebob wanted to have him as a guest.

I agree with oral report, greasy buffoons and the paper but I don't agree with squidtastic voyage I think its just okay I don't think its good or bad but just okay I don't think it deserves it spot on the list also I have mixed thoughts about demolition doofus I don't think is as bad as everyone says its just bad but not horrible and hell no out of the picture deserves to be more hated I put that on my own most overhated list which is also very similar with a top 5 and it also has oral report! I'm sure its just a coincidence!

I'd say Sing a Song of Patrick. Some people find it annoying, but I actually like that episode. And Demolition Doofus is at least ironically enjoyable, even though it's one of the worst episodes of the show imo.

I think another slightly overhated episode is "A Pal For Gary"
Don't get me wrong, its definitely a bad episode, but i don't think its quite on par with episodes like "One Coarse Meal" & "Stuck In The Wringer"
I respect your opinion, but A Pal for Gary is my least favorite episode of the entire show.

I only hate the scolding scene and Spongebob before being neglectful when Puffy was eating Gary’s bowl of food
Other than that, there is a good action scene against Gary and puffy almost making it look like a smash bros fight and even Gary lassoing puffy and chasing him away
I give the episode a meh 47/100
To be fair, I feel like a pal for Gary and one course meal would been my number one. Don't get me wrong, both of them are still bad but at least, there's a few positives in both of the episodes nobody talked about. The positives for a pal for Gary are: Gary being likeable, Mr Krabs being fair to SpongeBob , Gary saving SpongeBob and Gary being more smart than SpongeBob in this one. One course meal's positives are: SpongeBob being likeable until that ending , the food fight at the beginning of the episode and Mr Krabs getting a bit of karma. Now in my personal opinion, I put a pal for Gary as my number 10 spot in the worst of season 7 and one course meal as number 3
Now you probably think I am insane right. But I mean personally I don't think they are the worst episodes from the show. I mean if I had to tell you what's my least favorite episodes from the show. My number one used to be choir boys and my number two used to be SpongeBob you're fired. Cuz I actually hate them more than any other episode from the whole entire series

I think Atlantis Squarepantis and Krabby Land should be here. The SpongeBob community rips these episodes apart heavily which I am still not happy about because I still love these episodes.
Also I do feel Season 8 has a ton of overhated episodes and gets unfairly lumped with Seasons 6 and 7 and some of the seasons after it. I do feel it’s a criminally underrated season. It’s not good but it’s nothing particularly bad about it either. There’s a ton of awesome specials of Season 8 as well.
