Landed here by pure chance. I am now 71 years old and my Uncle Jack (my mother's brother) used to live in Morriston (never learned to drive) and as a child I used to take the number 77 bus from the Mumbles up to Morriston and we'd walk up over the mountains and the countryside for hours. He used to come down to the Mumbles once a month to see me (he and his wife Essie had no children). He asked me if I wanted sweets or a book (I still am a bookworm)when he came to visit and I answered a book (the Bobsey Twins - an endless series I seem to remember). Well, he always brought me both!!!!!! every month and writing this puts a smile of remembrance on my face. When I used to go up to visit, the kettle for tea was always boiled from a trivet you put over the fire. And I went to Mynyddbach comprehensive school after I passed my 11+ exam. I lived in France for over 30 years and I now live in Denmark. "The past is a foreign country, they do things differently there" (L.P. Hartley).... Thank you for putting this choir online...
Morriston Orpheus...I've heard them all from Wales; the Land of Song, and these are without a shadow of doubt the best of the lot! Wales's Premier Male Voice Choir...superb!
They sang this at the 1991 Llangollen Eisteddfod, inside a large tent. The choir stood on a wooden stage with 2 other choirs - over 200 singers on stage. When they sang Llanfair, the whole place vibrated. Chills up & down the spine.
