I found our 2013 Grand Cherokee with a 5.7 Hemi to get over 25 MPG at 60 miles per hour. I didn't get a chance to measure it at 75 MPH yet. However, the gas mileage is horrible in the city. You'd be lucky to get 15 lol.
+memonk11 Large V8s with tall gears get much better gas mileage than theyre given credit for. On the other hand, my sisters 96 accord gets about 22 on the highway because the engine is winding out at 80mph
+Dukiny Gaming he drove 100 miles at a steady 75mph in Eco mode. I'm sure your ecoboost would do great if you put it at 75mph and drove 100 miles on cruise
+Dukiny Gaming It's just because some twit at Ford figured out that turbocharging cars was a thing, like many did in the '80s and decided that putting eco there makes it more marketable to morons who know nothing about cars. There's nothing eco about a turbo, a powerful turbo will suck gas as much as a NA car. Turbos only going to save you gas if it's a four cylinder and you stay out of the boost.
+Shintsu2 HENCE the name "eco". Downsizing the engine saves fuel, as with the Ecoboost three cylinder that gets 44mpg on EPA highway tests (55mpg on European tests). And without any of that hybrid battery nonsense .
I'm a disabled vet living in southern Colorado. and love challengers. I had a 392 hemi 6 speed when I was in the army. but couldn't afford it anymore when I got out. I hope I can drive or own one of these hellcats one day
that's some pretty damn good mpg for having over 700hp, imagine if that car had cylinder deactivation mode, might get over 30. I know the car will probably never have that, but it's a pretty cool concept
People need to Stop comparing muscle cars to the sports cars section OK. We're not talking about Corvettes vipers and Lamborghinis here their sports cars meant for racing which is another class of its own. This is strictly a musclecar nothing more nothing less so keep it muscle people. If you're saying you would rather own a Z06 it's because you don't like muscle cars you like sports cars which is fine.
Love this series!! I'm a 2014 Mustang GT owner and really like what you guys are doing in the "muscle car" arena. Please more videos like this "Hellcat VS xxx". I look forward to them. One thing I would ask at least for this series - Make it easy on yourself and don't add the cheesy music; don't add any music! Just give us the beautiful sounds of the car itself with your nice voice overs. Thanks again
My friend bought the Challenger when it first came out in 2008 then proceed to up grade it ever year just about; so now there is over $60k into it...they are hella fun! The factory tires are not so good, but you will find that the Nitto Invo's work the best, and are awesome in the rain too. Congrats guys!!!
93 octane is for us flatlanders down here in ethanol country where we can actually put it to use. One reason you only get 91 is because you're a mile above sea level. Lower air density = less heat from compression = not as much octane needed to prevent detonation. In fact you could probably get by on 89 up there.
hunter kennedy It's not their car, so they can drive it like they stole it. Actually, they generally do steal their cars, from New Jersey. But, as it's more than 500 miles from Colorado, the Hellcat wouldn't survive the journey.
That is seriously impressive to get 24.6 MPG from a car with that much power. What do you think a Lamborghini Aventador gets on the highway? Maybe 13 or so?
+goatmonkey2112 Cold air is more dense, equating to more power. Higher altitude has less air resistance and oxygen causing the engine to burn less fuel.
+lfsracer79 I am not sure a European car would run on 91 octane, minimum is 95 and most premium is 97 - 99. However it is currently 99 pence per litre.
Bad Drivers Of Bartow County Georgia The difference is that 95 octane in Europe (91 US) is regular whereas 91 octane in the US is premium. 98 octane in Europe is available pretty much everywhere but 93 is quite rare in the US.
in Saudi Arabia, we have only premium gasoline 91 and 95 , and its very cheap 91 = 0.20 $ per 1 Litre 95 = 0.24 $ per 1 Litre I dont know how much in gallons where in the US, the gas price per 1 Litre is about 3.75 $
i alson burnt about 70 percent of my tread within 4 months of owning the scatpack as well its just to hard not to let the back end out or do donuts trust me any fanatic who loves these cars for that reason is gonna have a blast and on my way to work i usually hit 170-180 mph get to work quick lol luckily havent got a you know what ticket yet in a full year absolutely love my car my only advice is get it in black or red to me thats what makes it really stand out dont get a dull color it doesnt make these cars pop as much sublime to if your crazy lol
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the vids. Very happy with the MPG. I own a manual so I am sure I will not get the same mileage but I have taken it on a short 5 hour trip and it got pretty decent mileage.
The thing that I like about the 2016 Camaro SS is that it puts down the results without excuses. It's balanced in terms of power and grip. The Hellcat gets such a wide variance in 0-60 times because of the launch (not counting this winter video). The Camaro SS puts down 4 second times consistently. Perhaps it's unamerican to say, but the Hellcat has too much HP for its rear tires (in my opinion).
Thanks for this. Love the highway info (RPM at cruise and MPG, amount of noise at cruise) as I would be driving this on the highway to and from work. Great video.
what's so special about this year's challenger. still looks the same as when they first came out. the Mustang and Camaro are keeping up with the modern times.
Dang! $1800 guzzler tax, they nailed you. If it's any consolation of comparison; I only paid 1k guzzler tax for the 2016 Scat Pack. According to my computer @ 1100 miles, i'm averaging 21mpg counting the balls out runs.
One other suggestion to you guys. Can you do a Hellcat VS Mustang 2013 or 2014 GT500? It is the closest competitor to the Hellcat in design and mission. The GT350 serves a completely different mission, same thing with the Camaro SS.
Great idea for a video series! And btw, I might be biased to my Challenger, but I must say I'm looking forward to hearing that Ford flat crank scream when you put it head to head.
+mystic1754 2014 R/T challenger , sorry should have mentioned that. I get roughly 26-28mpg on the way to Vegas from LA at approx 75/80mph set on cruise control
+mystic1754 He is correct. The Hellcat is indeed capable of 26-27 MPG. It's amazing. Fast Lane Car just did a test and easily got close to 25 MPG with their Hellcat on the highway. The problem is that when you hit stop & go traffic your MPG will drop like a rock. But as a highway cruiser, the Hellcat can sip fuel in a surprising way.
I love that you are doing this series.. but would love to see the full potential of this car.. constantly I see this car hindered by the lack of traction.. and also in your case.. high altitude.. I want to see that thing with wide slicks on it at near sea level and really see what it can do.
Add 1 gallon of E85 for each quarter tank. That will help power . My old Big Block Corvette can do a 5 up here in Colorado... But a 4? Yikes... I would need NOS to do that.. Or some other power adder.. Challenger HellCat is King !! Long live the King !!
Wow! The gas price in Colorado is much better than in southern cal. My best MPG on my hellcat is 20.5mpg after 1,500 miles on my odometer on my car computer from Orange County to San Diego. Although I wasn't using cruise control. It was just for good fun to see what's the best mph on this 6.2 liter motor.
I'd love to see you guys put this up against a R/T Scat Pack with the same transmission to test real world advantages of all the boosted power. I suspect the NA 392 in the Scat is the point of diminishing returns for that chassis.
Dodge must have anticipated people using sticky tires with their launch control programming. At this level of power, 1st gear isn't going to hook up even in normal conditions. On the 09-14 CTS-V, the automatic starts in 2nd gear in Drive, and when the power is turned up with typical mods to Hellcat levels, you still can't go WOT from a dead stop in 2nd, even with summer tires in a 285 width (I had such a car). At a certain point, it's harder to do a quick 0-60 than in a less powerful car. Once you are rolling though...
that's what I like about the Hellcat because you get reliable 707 horsepower on like if you get a tune and or something out of another car and a warranty to on top of that I feel bad for the people that they buy 70 challenger back in the day because at that only comes with a 48 month warranty with a Hemi engine
My break in period for my new lex is250 was 5k or first oil change. my harley was 500 miles but they want you to do your first damn oil change at 1k miles.
I just have to tell you, I own one of these, right now it is sitting in my garage in a bubble waiting for the spring. I love watching your videos and I can't wait to get mine out. How can we help you get this hellcat to Germany?
That is our dream to get it on the Autobahn. It really depends on how popular this series becomes. If we can find a sponsor or a way to...we will do it. You can help support us here: www.patreon.com/tflcar?ty=h
+The Fast Lane Car thanks guys. I've linked the video on Hellcat.Org and on our Facebook Hellcat group. You guys do a great job and your videos always gets positive reviews.
The problem I have with the hellcat is you have to look really hard to tell if it's a hellcat model. The challenger r/t and Scat pack from a far look like a hellcat but up close you can tell what they are. If I'm going to spend money on such a car, it better have much more than a little badge to distinguish itself from a regular challenger. And not to mention how many V6 models look like V8 models these days.
I did 0-60 in 4.4 in my RT 392.....I do have a performance exhaust and cold Air Intake but that shouldn't matter. He must be getting a lot of wheel slip.....
I have a 2015 Dodge Challenger srt 392 with the same sepia brown colored seats. Unfortunately, after 5,700 miles now, I've noticed dark discoloration on the seat... Kinda sucks. I have no idea why because I'm not rough getting in and out of the car. It has taught me to get black leather in all future vehicle. Also, because the leather is so soft, it is wearing out rather quickly. I'm sure you guys will find out soon enough. :-/
Guys, just one question how come you have Czech subtitles which are so well done, definitely not some google translate robot, some Czech guys over there?
Please redo the 0-60 when it's warmer for better traction and also with a few break in miles on the engine. I'm sure we'll see Hellcat vs. Dragstrip when Bandimere (spelling?) reopens.
The Fast Lane Car Also, Hellcat vs. Gas Guzzler might be fun. Let's see how bad you can make the mpg without doing anything too unlawful. I'm betting single digits.
They hold up well against the Vette Camaro and Stang considering you give up 600 to 700lb of car me personally I love mine im 6 foot 7 and no way I'm comfortable in any of those above I mentioned my Challenger however a game changer for the big and tall fella
Very nice! Roman will come to us. Hey Roman i live in Berlin. Please make your Autobahnrace in the summer from Berlin to Dresden. Cause during the race you can show up your Car at 2 racetracks. The Eurospeedway and the Spreewaldring. Please come to Berlin !! 😀
I love the all new 2016 Dodge Challenger srt hellcat it's a very fast supercharged car That can take on the Ford Mustang gt and the Chevrolet Camaro ss supercharged
I'd love to see hellcat vs snow. ie if your out and a bad snowstorm comes can it get you home safely and without white knuckleing the wheel praying. The car looks like a hoot but if I can't use it half the year I'm turned off. I had a Mustang that would go sideways if the road even looked wet.
You call 91 octane high? I'm from Europe, here 95 octane is minimum you get as standard and you can get 102 octane ( Aral ) or 106 (special Shell), but why ?
Hey Nathen, I know you said the car only had 18 miles it, can you do another test as soon as it has more than 2500 miles to see if the engine being broken in changes the results?
24mph with 4400lbs car with 707hp out of a 6.2L supercharged V8 that's amazing
Yeah I thought you needed at least 800 hp to hit 24 mph! You probably need at least a billion hp to hit the claimed 199 mph!
+benjamin guillory haha my bad typo I ment *24MPG
+benjamin guillory my truck only has 100hp. how fast can i go?
+Bad Drivers Of Bartow County Georgia you can go as fast as you can walk because 100 hp will not move a truck
+benjamin guillory 100 hp will move a truck!!!! smh!
I've got a challenger rt shaker. The sticker says 13/23 mpg. On long highway trips (200 miles) I've gotten 28 mpg.
That's impressive
Yeah. But it's the 5.7 liter.
I found our 2013 Grand Cherokee with a 5.7 Hemi to get over 25 MPG at 60 miles per hour. I didn't get a chance to measure it at 75 MPH yet. However, the gas mileage is horrible in the city. You'd be lucky to get 15 lol.
Cruise control and keeping the rpms low. Once I start Diving like normal, all local stop and go, I'm at 16 - 21.
+memonk11 Large V8s with tall gears get much better gas mileage than theyre given credit for. On the other hand, my sisters 96 accord gets about 22 on the highway because the engine is winding out at 80mph
This 707 horsepower challenger gets the same mpg as a 2016 Ford Explorer ecoboost. "Eco"boost. Think about that
+Dukiny Gaming he drove 100 miles at a steady 75mph in Eco mode. I'm sure your ecoboost would do great if you put it at 75mph and drove 100 miles on cruise

Coming up: Hellcat Gold Mine Hill Off-road Review
Congrats on your new TFL Hellcat. Can't wait to see ALL the TFL Hellcat vs. Videos.
Amazing piece of engineering.... I wish that somehow Dodge had an AWD system tucked into that baby too, that could be turned on when needed.

Lower air density = less heat from compression = not as much octane needed to prevent detonation. In fact you could probably get by on 89 up there.
doesn't that motor have a break in period? I think it's 1000 miles. and you can't go over a certain RPM. just wondering
500 mile break in period.
+The Fast Lane Car y u guys get a hellcat
+The Fast Lane Car Does that mean you break it in 500 miles; generally by wrapping it round a tree⁉️🤕
+The Fast Lane Car I hope you didn't go out a do those 0-60s with at least 500 miles on it.
hunter kennedy It's not their car, so they can drive it like they stole it.
Also, this is at altitude when it's cold, you lose MPG for both of those things.
electrictroy2010
I suppose that's possible. I think TFLCar needs to test this.
+goatmonkey2112 Cold air is more dense, equating to more power. Higher altitude has less air resistance and oxygen causing the engine to burn less fuel.
Excited to follow this little series
You mean 2.09 $ 91
uu
+Jonathan Figueroa 2.099 does not round down to 2.09
+lfsracer79 I am not sure a European car would run on 91 octane, minimum is 95 and most premium is 97 - 99. However it is currently 99 pence per litre.

You guys are very lucky. It must be paradise for car fans there.
$2 a gallon is close to $0.50 per litre.

great video and great car
it's an amazing feat of engineering to build an 4500lb car and 24mpg 11 sec quarter mi.!
Looking forward to seeing the rest of the vids. Very happy with the MPG. I own a manual so I am sure I will not get the same mileage but I have taken it on a short 5 hour trip and it got pretty decent mileage.
Hell yeah! I look forward to more from this series!

Camaro SS and gt350R are not even in the same class, but should be a interesting comparison cant wait!
So you guys have a Ford Raptor, and now you have a Dodge Challenger Hellcat. I am really jealous of you right now!
Love the 1928 Chrysler in the background.
TFLcar forgot to say thanks subscribers for our new toy!
So glad you all got this car!!!!!!
+C Nevs Also did you say "gas guzzler" tax.
I didn't know colorado required that, interesting
+C Nevs THE gas guzzler tax is imposed by the U.S. government, so is required in all states
.
what's so special about this year's challenger. still looks the same as when they first came out. the Mustang and Camaro are keeping up with the modern times.
Dang! $1800 guzzler tax, they nailed you. If it's any consolation of comparison; I only paid 1k guzzler tax for the 2016 Scat Pack. According to my computer @ 1100 miles, i'm averaging 21mpg counting the balls out runs.

Im always amazed at the slow times these guys get 0-60.
Great idea for a video series! And btw, I might be biased to my Challenger, but I must say I'm looking forward to hearing that Ford flat crank scream when you put it head to head.
when you said the mileage on the odometer in the beginning i swear i actually could smell that "new car smell"
My 6 speed manual challengers gets 26mpg highway on the way to Vegas from LA
+mystic1754 2014 R/T challenger , sorry should have mentioned that.
I get roughly 26-28mpg on the way to Vegas from LA at approx 75/80mph set on cruise control

my 2002 Passat gets about the same mpg on the highway. shows just how far fuel economy tech has come in 15 years.
I'm really glad you did an mpg test. I have always wondered how one would sctually do.-Thanks
thank for this. this will deff be my next car
My dream car right here!! 707 amurican horsepowa!!
24.598 does not round down to 24.5
The car says 24.5
Cool video and I love the hellcat Challenger...
surprised Lochbuie didn't pull you over haha this is the car I want!
You can't do a Mopar review without Nathan. Lol I'm kidding this was a good review and I'm surprised by the gas mileage.
Must be really high altitude for that 0-60. sweet ass car
Colorado uses lower octane gasoline because of the high altitude (low pressure), not cause of epa regs
You guys do 0-60 and hard launches when the weather is near freezing? IN SUMMER TIRES! Wow.
I'd love to see you guys put this up against a R/T Scat Pack with the same transmission to test real world advantages of all the boosted power. I suspect the NA 392 in the Scat is the point of diminishing returns for that chassis.
+MrUpgraydde I traded my 2015 SRT 392 for a 2016 Hellcat. I can assure you that the Hellcat advantages are very real.
Awesome you have a Hellcat!!!!!!!!
Speirs's hellcat burnout was way better
same (subscriber) 😄
great series idea
Dodge must have anticipated people using sticky tires with their launch control programming. At this level of power, 1st gear isn't going to hook up even in normal conditions. At a certain point, it's harder to do a quick 0-60 than in a less powerful car. Once you are rolling though...
If only they would squeeze the 6.2L Hellcat into the 2017 Fiat 124 Spider and back it with a manual...
That would be scary fun.
that's what I like about the Hellcat because you get reliable 707 horsepower on like if you get a tune and or something out of another car and a warranty to on top of that I feel bad for the people that they buy 70 challenger back in the day because at that only comes with a 48 month warranty with a Hemi engine
Congratulations on the purchase. Looking forward to the Hellcat VS (Especially the GT 350
I cant get beyond those teeny tiny "paddle shifter" nubs
Sounds good but the new Shelby GT350 with the flat-plane crank is something special.
The difference is that you can pick this car right off the show room, unlike the Shelby. You have to send your mustang somewhere else (right?).
Glad I have an SRT Jeep and can consistently hit 60 in 4.4 no matter the outside temperature
The Hellcat is much faster than that. Not many people can drive that car to its full potential. It's not very driver friendly.
MPG if you can afford you are not going to worry about the gas mileage or what the insurance is per year
My break in period for my new lex is250 was 5k or first oil change.
my harley was 500 miles but they want you to do your first damn oil change at 1k miles.
you bought the car just fora test drive?
I just have to tell you, I own one of these, right now it is sitting in my garage in a bubble waiting for the spring. I love watching your videos and I can't wait to get mine out.
How can we help you get this hellcat to Germany?
That is our dream to get it on the Autobahn. It really depends on how popular this series becomes. If we can find a sponsor or a way to...we will do it. You can help support us here: www.patreon.com/tflcar?ty=h

You said the emblem wasn't enough. Here you go. There are a lot more on ebay if you really want to be obvious you have aHeelcat.
Over here in Cali, 91 is around 3.59- 4.29
I did 0-60 in 4.4 in my RT 392.....I do have a performance exhaust and cold Air Intake but that shouldn't matter. He must be getting a lot of wheel slip.....
Fairmont Subdivision he’s also a mile above sea level so you gotta account for altitude changes
Interesting...a german magazine did 3.9 from 0-100 kph.
love your show by the way
Needs wider rear tires.
here the gas starts at 3.95$ but the highest one goes up to 5.00$
I have a 2015 Dodge Challenger srt 392 with the same sepia brown colored seats. Unfortunately, after 5,700 miles now, I've noticed dark discoloration on the seat... Kinda sucks. these videos are sweet
the price for 91 octane in this video clearly says 2.099 which is $2.09 almost $2.10 not $2.99
Guys, just one question how come you have Czech subtitles which are so well done, definitely not some google translate robot, some Czech guys over there?
I'm wondering how consistent the pump stopping point is. In my car, it seems like the "Miles to Empty" has a max to min delta of 50 or 60 miles.
I wonder if it would get better MPG after the engine has 5000 miles on it. I know my 2015 f150 sure did
So the Hellcat gets the gas guzzler tax with the AUTO? I know the 392 only gets that tax with the manuals.
Yep, I had to pay that tax as well for mine.
Please redo the 0-60 when it's warmer for better traction and also with a few break in miles on the engine. I'm sure we'll see Hellcat vs. Dragstrip when Bandimere (spelling?) reopens.
Yes, this spring we will most certainly take it to the drag strip.
The Fast Lane Car Also, Hellcat vs. Gas Guzzler might be fun. Let's see how bad you can make the mpg without doing anything too unlawful. I'm betting single digits.
And take it down closer to sea level too!
with DR'S on the cat and better weather low 3's.
This sounds like the muscle truck from Road Kill
They hold up well against the Vette Camaro and Stang considering you give up 600 to 700lb of car me personally I love mine im 6 foot 7 and no way I'm comfortable in any of those above I mentioned my Challenger however a game changer for the big and tall fella
Why not do the burnout first then the 0-60 test? Warm tires would have grabbed much better. My guess 2/10ths faster.
my dream car
This is funny the guy trying to teach a professional auto guy about the car he just bought lol
I love the all new 2016 Dodge Challenger srt hellcat it's a very fast supercharged car
That can take on the Ford Mustang gt and the Chevrolet Camaro ss supercharged
I'd love to see hellcat vs snow. ie if your out and a bad snowstorm comes can it get you home safely and without white knuckleing the wheel praying. The car looks like a hoot but if I can't use it half the year I'm turned off. I had a Mustang that would go sideways if the road even looked wet.
hell yea that's the stuff the same car I have except I have the hellcat custom made by me
You call 91 octane high? I'm from Europe, here 95 octane is minimum you get as standard and you can get 102 octane ( Aral ) or 106 (special Shell), but why ?
Only 91 Octane fuel. We in Europe dont have petrol below 95 Octane.
707 Hp and it takes almost 6 seconds to get to 60? My 350z will do it in a little over 5 and has like 300hp
watch the whole video
+Chris Pastuf my point is that the car is so heavy the power is wasted. I can build a Z with 700 hp and smoke that hellcat
+David Womacks Congrats lol
+David Womacks And I can walk out the dealership without modifying anything.
+mirsec008 ya.. With a full warranty.
You shoulda did one more 0-60 with the nanny shit off while you had the tires hot n sticky.
I'd love to see an AUTO VS MANUAL (A8 vs M6), in one of your comparisons.....:)
I'm guessing the Raptor is gone in place of this?
Just like everyone has a '69 Camaro, everyone has a Hellcat now. I would rather get the upcoming 2017 or 2018 Shelby GT500
I got 4.6sec to 60 on my BMW 435ixdrive in Colorado and got the video 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey Nathen, I know you said the car only had 18 miles it, can you do another test as soon as it has more than 2500 miles to see if the engine being broken in changes the results?
I hav a ss , but I would get one because I love the American muscle
Beautiful car
