At last a decent review on this fabulous seiko watch, I love the green faced example, I will place an order very soon!! Thanks for posting a marvellous video!!!
It's weird, for years I've wanted to pick up a green dial... I'm drawn to the white dial and would want to get a black dial at the same time, two totally different looks to me! The longer power reserve is a bonus also.
@@MinuteMon hi thanks for the excellent video. You mention the legibility on the green dial. Is it bad enough to be significant? E.g. low light indoors - would it be difficult to see the dial? I prefer higher legibility but I like the green. Thanks!
Nice video. I really love this new alpinist. It's true that the X prospex logo is a little bit disturbing for some people but to me it's fine.. I understand that seiko want to clarify their range. But in another hand, alpinist watches should be classed as a real different range. Anyway, they're part of prospex line now znd they're absolutely gorgeous, I hope I can get one some day! 👍😁 Thanks for this presentation video!
Got the black one for myself yesterday. But I did notice a slight sideways movement on the compass crown... is that normal? Is it supposed to be a little loose like that?
Thanks for the video. I’ve bought it yesterday (the spb119 version). I just would like to check the button of the bezel ring (at 4pm), is it a little bit shaky? Can you check with yours? Thanks again and hope you response
old and new alpinists are the same size the 38mm size that other articles and youtube videos indicated before is simply wrong the size has always been 39.5mm
I have the green version Seiko Alpinist with a rotatable compass dial. But the dial is wobbling and looks sloppy by turning. I don't like that, it's inaccurate. (Wiebelig in Dutch) But the watch looks beautiful ....
Nice watches but it would be better if all three styles came with bracelets. Those leather strap styles can be obtained without much hassle but sourcing the original bracelet will not be so easy. I like the dial faces of the ones which come on the leather strap but would prefer them on the bracelet which is a pity as I would have purchased one.
Better strap, better shade of green on the dial, I like the cyclops but this is subjective. I don’t mind the prospex logo. Both watches are classy, there is no difference in classyness for me between the two.
Great video! Cream dial with the bracelet would work for me. Do you have the glashutte Original seaQ models? Actually highlighting any Glashutte Original models would work for me.
Depends! Some prefer the traditional styling and text while some may prefer the cyclops lens and improved 70 hour movement. Can’t go wrong with either though
The sharktooth isnt a new design. Black dial alpinists traditionally had sharktooth indices. The red alpinist version is the scvf005, the sarb alpinist version is the sarb015.
I just picked one up today at an authorized seiko dealer and they knocked off $100 and i asked them if they would replace the crystal in my SNK809, they threw that in for free as part of the deal. but yes, cyclopes, quick release strap, 24 instead of 23 jewels 70hr power reserve, mirror polish finish aside from the top of the lugs being brushed, display caseback, and text/engravings on the dial/caseback/movement are the only difference from the older model. Mostly cosmetic, actual performance upgrades is the 24 jewels and extra 20 hour power reserve, cyclopes is actually pretty useful, but i may end up swapping the crystal out for a single domed crystal with green AR.
It looks to big on a small wrist. It should offer a smaller size. It does not look tailored because of its size. I was thinking about buying it before this video.

I’m saving for the SPB121 green dial.
Almost 1000$ cad
Good choice, well done. Same for me too.
Did you go for it? How is it?
@@iTziLLUMY so?
It's a great watch, the strap is a bit stiff but upgrade to a metal strap from strapcode

Thanks so much for watching! Glad you enjoyed the video and that it was useful!
Nice review with a rare description of how to navigate with the compass dial. Well done.
Got the cream version and loving it. Super easy to match for all occassions.
Great choice! Congrats on the new watch!
I bought the black dial version. I was looking at Tossot, but when he pulled out the Seiko I was in love!
Champagne dial is an absulute strap beast!
the green dial is beautiful
Classic green!

Hard to choose when they all have their own charm!
I too wanted the green dial forever. Bought one with black dial last week.
I wouldn't have called the 6r35 movement an upgrade as its positional variance is all over the place.

Yes, I see most people torn between the Prospex X logo. Glad you enjoyed the video!
I just bought one with a cream face today at Carot & Co!!
Wonderful review, clear & concise.

The cyclops is nice and the strap is an upgrade but I like the old size.

I bought the Black one. I love it so much that I gave my SARB017 to my wife.
Great choice! How you liking the bracelet?
Carat & Co. Watches & Jewelry I really like the bracelet but the clasp still has that gap the same as the Sarbs 033/035.
Damn, that says it all! I'll be getting a black one soon!
Just bought myself the green dial one on your website🔥
Will it fit a 8" wrist
If I can ever find the stainless steel Bracelet model on sale
For 350.00 I’ll buy it.

I don't understand why only the black dial version has a metal bracelet it puts me off buying any of the other colour's.😬

That’s a great suggestion. The Alpinist look great on the bracelet. Also the black dial SPB117 bracelet would fit well on the other models.
@@MinuteMon Yes indeed I am still considering whether to buy two of them just to be able to have the bracelet available for the one I actually want.
@@resjon7981 You can get Seiko genuine bracelet from www.seiyajapan.com/collections/accessories/products/seiko-ss-bracelet-for-sarg005
The ivory one is the one for me!!!!!’
Superb watches but the straps are a nightmare .... would recommend the bracelet or 3rd party straps for sure !
Real aligator leather or just a print??
Good quality review...
I think the older model is classier. The new look just doesn't do it for me. Sarb017 is a must have in any man's watch collection.
New model looks 10x times better
@@matyasd007 Really? You think so? I guess to each their own. We all have different taste.

Great suggestion! We do have them available, guess a video is on its way!
Good video. Just wish Seiko would add more friction to the compass crown. It moves to freely from my personal experience.
Agreed. But it doesn't bother me much as I rarely pay attention to it.
How’s the compass crown on the watch? Does it move sideways a little bit?
It's 2024 and i still can't decide between the green and black dial...
Now i wish i would have brought that instead of the persauge mockingbird
So , SARB017 or SPB121J1 ?
Depends! Some prefer the traditional styling and text while some may prefer the cyclops lens and improved 70 hour movement. Can’t go wrong with either though
the black one is not new, its based on the old red alpinist
Good point! My mistake, it’s from an older Alpinist
Beautiful pieces and really well presented.
Sub'd and liked 👍
Thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it

The sharktooth isnt a new design. Black dial alpinists traditionally had sharktooth indices. The red alpinist version is the scvf005, the sarb alpinist version is the sarb015.
The black dial is actually a tip of the cap to the older shark tooth Alpinist, not a new design.
Great point!
that cyclope doubled the price?

Where’s the SPB123 (SBDC093)??
Hopefully we will have it available later this year for review

And seiko prices has just gone up too much lately...
The black and white dials are BORING. The green though is a stunner. Don't like the cyclops on any of them.
Glass case back...bigger...cyclop...I don't buy It. Black Is the best looking.

I may not be the best wrist model, but I hope you still get to try it on your own wrist for better comparison :)
@@MinuteMon what size wrist do you have?
Cyclopic date display ruins the watch, makes it look cheap and tacky.
