Shlama Jason! What an absolutely beautiful travel vlog you have put together here. I truly enjoyed watching it and learned so much more about Erbil, Iraq. I think you did a great job of capturing the beauty that this city has to offer. I'm also so glad to see that you were able to make friends while visiting local spots!
With all due respect, as a public content creator in Erbil I do find it a bit odd that you didn't mention the Assyrian people living in this same region, once. Prior to Kurdistan, this same region housed the people indigenous to the land - the Assyrians.
The Assyrian people are the cradle of civilization. Assyrians speak a modern version of a language called Aramaic, the language Jesus Christ spoke. Assyrians are predominately Christian, belonging to various churches. Assyria used to be made of Syria, Iraq, Turkey and Iran. In 1915, a gruesome ethnic cleansing was done on the Assyrians due to not giving up their religion. This forced the Assyrians to lose their home, possessions and mostly lives. Today, the surviving Assyrians do not have their OWN nation. BUT you have stepped foot on some of the oldest land on earth, so with that I say Congratulations! Assyrians live in Erbil and surrounding areas in Iraq and many more live in diaspora, outside the home land.
As someone with indigenous descent to the Assyrians, I would have loved to have seen you discuss the original history of the land you're on. It would have meant a lot to be recognized by those unfamiliar with this side of the world.
Please know that I am so proud of how courageous you are for travelling alone and making these videos to educate others. You are doing something great, please keep it up and best of luck! I send you all my support and love. All the best on your future travels :)
