This the second video in a series of videos we are doing here at Restomod Daisy in an effort to document the disassembly/reassembly every model Daisy we have on hand in the shop. This one got a little out of control and some obstacles were encountered with removing the spring anchor. Actually, a lot of obstacles were encountered and blood was shed. I've decided to post it in it's entirety so that you can see how a simple process can get complicated quick.

Right at 17 minutes, where you were considering trashing the video. For me, that's the most valuable moment. Doing something that requires skill and showing it done effortlessly is not as encouraging as seeing how even the most skilled and experienced can struggle and still succeed. That's the kind of stuff that motivates me try the things you've shown us.

I am so damn glad you left this up. I was working on an old RR that wasnt locking into 7th on the bear trap and would shoot. So I said what the hell I’ll put that spring package in there from cobalt. No special tools. Got everything out and then got to the guide rod… 20m of cursing and thinking up alternatives, praying for a lucky strike and then slashing my pinky open and it’s quitting time. Gonna go get a damn guide rod tomorrow morning. Makes me feel better that the man himself has his days w these guns.

I'm glad I am not the only one that struggles some time compressing that darn spring. Awesome video as always very informative.
That sure gave you a fight but you won the battle.
They can punch above thier weight sometimes.
Lol, I recently disassembled my Model 94 to upgrade the main spring/air tube, and replace both seals... It went about the same, but sure was worth the effort. Fortunately my model 75 was already a thumper when I bought it, so it will be staying together.
I've always been a Red Ryder fan but the 8" barrel small frames are singing siren songs to me. I just finished a #102 Model 36 that has magical accuracy.
It would be wonderful if you made a video showing how you lubricate Daisy 111 No. 40.

I've done that (ouch) - I'm thinking time to build a cross guard for the tool, like a medieval sword! Glad you showed how things don't always go smoothly in life, another good lesson for the next generation.
I'm thinking a cross guard for the twin post tools as well. The plastic tool for the post 1978 guns with the plastic triggers works beautifully once they get a little honing from use and since they don't require a vise to work, you no cutta you fingers.
Great 👍🏼 job very informative this 75 “Scout” youth is almost the same as my 80 which I know now is a youth model 80 I kinda always wondered why it was nice & compact great for target practice indoors lol & I can really notice a difference in copper & steel bb’s the way they work in the gun any ideas 💡 on why that is thanks again for sharing your expertise this definitely helps me understand how this works 👍🏼
@@beachinrc101 I find that the Daisy Precision Max BB's run the best in the guns I build. They're not copper coated so no issues with rust and you can get them down at Wally World for a pretty good price for 2400 rounds. I have a milk carton of Crosman Copperheads here at the shop I use as a steaming volcano simulator.

Another good video Shane glad to see you have adult supervision, you know you could get hurt working on these things.
I'm with Rex about the washer at the end of the spring, keeps the tool from sliding off and fingers from getting amputated.
Does anyone know what the tool they used in the Daisy factory looked like when assembling these guns??

Hi Shane,
Glad to see it’s not just me…
Life got a whole lot easier (and less painful !) when I made 2 changes; I clamp my spring compressor in the vise and push down, I use a 1/2”id x 3/4”od x .200” spacer at the rear end of the spring which helps keep the fork from slipping off, also, I’ve learned the hard way to install the shot tube first and feed the guide wire through from the muzzle and slip the air tube over it…
Made the Bandaid people rich learning how to work on these !
Really enjoyed the video, I’ve had those kinds of days (rated m for mature 😆)
I wonder if some kid dropped a bunch of that small shot down the barrel in an attempt to turn the gun into a shotgun and a few got stuck and remained there till you took the gun apart?
That's a possibility I had not thought of. Never under rate the destructive powers of an 8 year old.
Hey Shane ! My son got a red Ryder “Christmas wish” daisy for Christmas this year but it seems jammed. I got the stock and the lever off no problem. Can’t get the trigger out

Daisy's are ok for kids. Adults use real firearms.
