Wow, there’s a piece of history ! Imagine the stories it could tell. Depression, Prohibition, might have changed hands during WW2 when Daisy wasn’t making any…a lot can happen in 90 years. Really looking forward to seeing this one finished !
@@RestOModDaisy Maybe the answer lies on Facebook…considering the number of friend requests I get from people that have been dead for years, it must have some kind of link to the past ! (lol 😆)
@@RestOModDaisy yes. I've had it for 10 or so years, bought at an antique warehouse for 5 bucks. It still shoots but probably less than 200 fps. Like all the rest it has shrunken stocks and is missing the cover on the buttplate.
@@williamjarvis3473 200 FPS is pretty good for an original piece. I put synthetic seals in mine and it runs just a bit faster, but only a bit. I think that the shot tube not having any mounting threads is producing some air loss.
@@RestOModDaisy I'm sure that has a lot to do with it and the fact you have to oil it through the muzzle as there's no oil port, or none I can find. The red Ryder you restored gets the job done. A neighborhood kid shot a squirrel to chase it from chewing on the house and killed it. I'd never believed it had I not been there, so 400 fps isn't something to play around with. I think he hit it in the neck. I took it back lol
@@williamjarvis3473 Wow! I've never considered them squirrel killlers either. Done in my share of mice with them and a boat load of carpenter bees. Sounds like the kids got a good eye.
Shane, I'm so glad the "magic happened". Lol. Much appreciated the favorable comments about Daisy lever gun fun. BTW, that main spring really is a bugger! Nice video.
I did toy around with the idea of preserving that original butt stock by gluing and angle pinning from the bottom to hide the repair. But, I'm sure your skills will produce a beautiful replacement. Either way, I can't wait to see how it turns out.
It's gonna get repaired and go in the parts bin as a sample stock. I've decided to replace the factory wood with a single plank Slim Jim Butt Stock and attach a tapered forend. I also want to fab up a sheet metal plate to replace the original paper decal, we'll see how that goes.
Wow great video, some interesting new details on that gun...Trigger bite!!!!. I was thinking,You have taught us everything except how to get rid of bumps...I have a 108-39 that i have been trying all sorts of things and its not working(mine is more then just a little bump)...If ever your looking for a video content , Show us how to smooth out the bumps...
I have a question my family and I were watching a Christmas story then watched home alone. There's a scene where Kevin grabs a Red Ryder BB. But it doesn't function the way you'd expect. It works via pump action. My question is could it be possible to make the Red Ryder a pump action bbgun.
Nice find Shane!
Thanks Nibs, but Russ actually found it.

To bad there isn't an internet Psychic that could read the history of the piece and provide a theoretical back story of it's travels. Or is there?

great find, can't wait to see it this weekend.
It'll look quite a bit different by then. I don't think it'll be ready for range work though.
Mine isn't the only rustomod! Mine still runs great! I'm hoping to send you the military style one sometime soon.
I get plenty of them here. You got a Daisy Defender on hand?
