Fantastic video, I've heard a lot of this stuff before from Alan, but it's always good to hear the slight differences in his story each time it's told and his voice is incredible. I'm English but this accent is so rare and amazing, the way he speaks is truly enthralling. Thank you for this. xx
2019 and we have reached a point where information is doubling by the second and the masses can't deal with it, choosing instead to disregard it and try to halve it.
If people are wondering....he has Jupiter in Gemini, his speech is slow and deep. He has a lot of other planets in Scorpio also, that magnify his interests in occultism.
Born again Christians call alan moore satanic he must be doing something right, loads of people have watched v for vendetta, watchman, from hell and the league of extraordinary gentlemen but I bet hardly anyone knows hims a true cult figure and for a pot head he speaks a lot of sense
🗣 *In our homeland he’s a treasure among all faiths!* *It’s an American thing to see him as the devil incarnate but for us Brits it’s all theatre & pageantry!* *Just like all that nonsense regarding‘Marilyn Manson’ to us it’s just dress up & lipstick but to to the Americans he’s public enemy no:1!* *Lol!!* *All the best from Penzance, Cornwall,UK!* 💯🎭
I imagine a new world of collectivist artists magi coagulating across the subversphere constructing novel and unique ideas, pushing forth creatives to a higher veneration then the charlatene entertainters the 21st century has deemed them.
AM's calm self-deprication is marvellously re-assuring in an age where vacuous self-advertisement is the norm; the - 'How do you feel about how I feel?' type of solipsism one hears a lot. If you take the position that the universal 'source' is a 'field' in this (3rd) dimension and emanates under the direction of our eternal I's, then the entire nature of reality is a magical 'movie' that is being made constantly; therefore, ALL so-called temporal 'reality' is a 'personal' projection.
34:40 Scott Cunningham wrote several books designed for mass consumption, and each one is a wonderful introduction to occultism. Silver RavenWolf is another author of worthy mention.
So I've been debating getting Ableton live because I know I can make Dubstep and Kawaii and trance.... This interview sealed the deal! I'm getting it! And I won't be tuning to 440Hz
The words "magic" & "imagination" are directly related. The world of modern civilization is highly artificial, meaning it is derived from human imagination, meaning it is highly magical. The only problem w/ a common acceptance of a magical world view is a common misunderstanding of what magic is or what it means. Most people think of modern civilization as counter magical. Actually, the opposite is closer to truth.
I can see you point from a certain point of view. the wizard in the forest lives in a more 'normal' and 'natural' world than the person in the big city which comprises the externalised images derived from the minds of their creators. but I couldn't call the city magical on that account. the world of 'magic' is the purely internal world of consciousness. the city, though the result of magic or applied consciousness, is the external world. the magical world is the world of causes, i.e. the imagination, which change the external material world, which is the clay that it is shaping according to its intention. the magician is the one who lives in the interstice between the material (normal) and immaterial (magical) world, and who crosses between them as an intermediary. the city-dweller, on the other hand, is trapped in the external world, the dungeon, Maya, which, though illusionary, is the least magical/conscious place there is.
In many ways, I think AM is the modern Crowley. He's not nearly as destructive or self-consciously beastly. He has the same trickster/magus type of presentation. Luckily, the21st century has a much broader attitude. As for his John Constantine contact, I would bet dollars to pesos that the guy he saw based his own look upon Alan's work, which explains the wink. However,if you read & believe the work of an earlier comic writer, Alvin Schwartz, this could've been a tulpa, a manifested thought form.
+lekocafe True, the Ent metaphor :) I like this calm, soothing way of talking though. Although I frequently fall asleep while listening to his interviews, but it's worth it :)
I love listening to him talk about magic and there's so much to consider when he brings in the blurred lines between magic and art. I have run into a deeply troubled person who absorbs much of this kinda thing, spells, witchcraft, vampires and stage presentation. The whole concept seems to be based on youth and beauty which is a fleeting element of one's life. She also enjoys the master/servant relationship in vampire-ism, she wants minions and ''familiars'' like cats. I found her boring and stupid the moment she got on the subject and when the sex was over, and she found me tame and boring in the bedroom, she wanted to create a ''mystical connection'' with spells, hidden voodoo charms and even tried to get me to take one of her cats into my apartment as one of her ''messengers.'' She dragged the whole concept of magic into her thong and insisted that's where ''the power resides.'' Good grief!! Too many magus/wizards and witches make a laughing stock of the whole idea of magic, and they make laughable the reality of creating art.
Yeah,in retrospect I guess he should but retrospectively he was quite young and wanted to change the medium.Northamton is in deep shit now and his relative wealth would not change a thing, but I'm sure he's doing the best for the town he loves.

I could listen to him talk for ever!
What a gift of a man.
“You can be a genius all you want but first you lose your sanity AND THEN a true genius you will be...forevermore.”
Alan Moore is a genius. Great talk!
I love the way Alan thinks.
Alan Moore knows the score :) I reckon Physical fitness/flexibility is probably very helpful too! Look after yourselves my fellow surfers.

true artists have always had an aversion to money. But we get by
I love your comment!

I was checking his chart today. Have some similar placements as him, Gemini Jupiter been one of them.
GENIUS! A+ class talent

Dont forget...Oberon Zells "Grimoire for the apprentice wizard"...

Good god that would be amazing.
So true.
Brilliant Wordsmith...
did he ever release that magick book?
greencatsick not yet :(
I thought Steve Moore passed away? That might have put the project on hold :(

How is Moore a crowley-esque trickster? I don't see it.
(Ha, just realized it's a 5 year old comment... nevermind then)
He and Alejandro should collaborate.
so did he forget the five word phrase? or did he remember it?
Praha Orloj "Any cunt could do it".
I wonder if he and coil were friends.
🗣 *I was pondering that exact same thought last night!*
I love and respect Alan Moore but he sounds like an Ent since he speaks so slowly. I always want to offer him a cup of coffee.

lekocafe Booraroom! Why so hasty?
:^D
He is mindful. And he's patient. And, he's a magician. Caffeine doesn't hurt.
Play at 1.25x lol
Or .75x for full ent mode lol

Does this mean he won't be writing She Hulk for Marvel?
Pffft he's been retired from writing since 2017 or was it 18.
Seems a shame he chose not to take any money from Watchmen, he could have put it into the arts in Northampton (which sorely needs it right now)

Who is it that he mentions at 13:29?
Austin osman spare
Flubber Bubblenickel Iike

How did these random people get an interview with a god? I wanna talk to Alan Moore..
ConstantlyComparing Disinformation is a pretty decent size organization, I reckon.
is it just me, or is the goatee off?
What if Constantine was a woman...
