Singing isn’t about ‘winning’ or ‘losing’-it’s about expressing yourself and connecting with others. Love the reminder that the best competition is with ourselves!
Hello Jim ! I discovered your channel yesterday and i am binge watching all your videos. Very good stuff ! Thank you very much ! I would love you analysis on Set You Free by Black Label Society (Zakk Wylde) His tone his very Warm , I would love to see what you can do with that song ❤ Anyway, thank again for all videos !!
Back in the late 90’s I won every singing contest including a local televised 3 round competition, exclusively on Neil Diamond songs. In reality I only lost once. And that was to my wife! I say this, not because I was a great singer. But to illustrate my belief that a great deal of what determines you winning hinges on your song choice! Does it resonate with the judges & the audience? Is it a show stopper type of song, etc? Some of the contestants I was up against clearly were better singers! And in retrospect, I hadn’t even discovered what good technique felt like. So I’m sure some of my notes were out of tune.
