    I just subscribed to your fun channel. I used to frequent most all of the beaches you go to growing up. I live in SC now, so it's fun to watch your channel and see my old stomping grounds. The Wedge was my favorite beach. We would sit there for hours and watch the surfers. So fun.
    The cops are right about the voodoo. On the two corners where I work, there would often be grocery bag with a dead bird in it. One day, there was a dead Canadian goose. That's when I drew the line and called the cops. The sheriff told me it was a form of voodoo. After that day, we didn't see any more dead birds.

    Well done Jim. I would have been totally freaked out if I had come across a bag like that. Sooooooo creepy. But glad that you shared that with us and that the officer explained what that was. Nice tungsten ring as well. Loved the clip about the luminessence in the water. One day I would love to see something like that in person. Alas, I don't think our local great lakes have anything like that, up here in Canada. Happy hunting. Looking forward to your next video.

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Bio luminescence is not good for the sea life, so I do no like it. Surfers call it red tide but it is known as red algae. Hot weather causes the algae bloom, but it certainly when dark looks amazing.
      as for the Voodoo stuff, a 36 year old man was found dead the next day in that spot. He was a local and no one knows what happened to him? I am freaked out still. My early morning hunt today was creepy, I have never felt like that in 33 years of detecting this beach.

      Very cool that you got one for your dad, my dad was my detecting buddy we found a lot of GOLD together all around the world. Not a day goes by that I don't miss the times we had together, enjoy every second and take the time to appreciate just being together. As far a New Mexico goes, there are some great locations to hunt there. Lots of history you can chase, You live in an Area where Native American's used gold & silver to make great stuff. I have a friend who use to live in Santa Fe area, found leather bag full or feathers that had been twisted around a gold figurine. Also you have abundant of old trade routes throughout the state.

    Just curious, why don't you use your water filled hole to shake the sand out of your scoop? You are filling your hole back in a bit and saving a little time when doing so.

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It really depends on target size and the type of sand, I always prefer to wash out the target from the scoop but Sunset has really thick clay like sand that is like glue in the scoops you need a lot of water to clean it. Also if you think target is small don't wash it out dump and separate that way you do not lose a target. Thank you, That was a great question.

    There's also some clowns taking rolls of pennies to many beaches and scattering them all up and down the beach...I have seen it in action... When I asked why I was told to mind my own business....
    That's exactly what I was doing....
    Some people just enjoy causing people frustration and discouragement...🤬

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I have found more and more penny tosses with voodoo bags, apparently it is a ritual to promote change by tossing change. Then there is the detector intentional sabotage by tossing their zinc pennies off the Piers and else where on the beaches. I am a frequent target to some sabotage tosses, downside to TH-cam. I never show it in my videos because I do not want to give anyone the satisfaction, but I also think it is why I have such good karma. I dig it and move to the next, Lol!👍👍😎

    Love your stuff but on my iPad when you’re looking at “just found” items your hands and the item are too high to see. They’re above my screen. VERY frustrating. And when you show something to the camera…hold it steady for like a count of five. Often the picture is jumping and jiggling so much that (again) I can’t see the item at all. Other than that these are great. And the above issues aren’t every time…mostly things are fine. But when it happens…I just hate to miss out on anything here!

    Microwave a cup of white vinegar and then stir in a tablespoon of salt. Soak all your beach change in that and within ten minutes or so, your change will look brand new soak pennies separately from other coins. Some really crusty coins may need more time in the solution. Rinse and wash with Dawn and you;ll have spendable coinage.

      Wet sand I usually like to wash out in the ocean if I trust it is a larger object that won't wash out, however in the past few years I have developed a bad wrist, Scoop hand so wave action and shake outs really tend to hurt it. My worst fear is to find a corpse. It happened to an acquaintance of mine. I've found unexploded shells and grenades from WW2. That's frightening. But a corpse, it's next level. In northern France, we have a lot of boats full of "migrants". From time to time, there are beachings of packages of drugs from ships which have been dumping their cargo before the cops get them. This world is crazy.

    I have actually seen quite a few "offerings" on the beach. In my recent video there was a dead dog that washed up. Every once in a while there would be a watermelon or a pumpkin in the water. They sacrifice animals and fruits on the beach.
    Also they sacrifice change! I've seen them throw handfuls of pennies. Sometimes theres a small cluster of 10 or 20 pennies all together.
    I don't get near them when they're practicing but I do dig it all up (coins) when I'm detecting! Be careful out there. I don't touch the animals either

    • @funwithjim
      @funwithjim  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That explained the mass amount of pennies I was digging in the area. The next day a body of a 36 yo man washed up at that very spot, he was a local and no one knows what happened to him. I am freaked out a bit, this mornings early beach hunt was creepy and in 33 years of detecting this beach I have never felt like that.

      Surfers yes but west coast metal detectorist are not possessive, I have been detecting for almost 40 years and never once had an issue with another detectorist on any beach in California. Grumpy guys stay to them selves and If I notice someone gridding I keep my distance and walk around with a friendly wave. Thank You 👍

    Jesus is king of kings and Lord of Lords. Jesus is the only open door you must repeat and be saved. It's easy. Just say Jesus I believe in you come into my life and make me whole. Then all things becomes new, read Bible, repeat every day and find a good church.

    I heard you say you believe in karma, and that is good and all but if you were to die today, your soul would not make it to heaven unless you ask Jesus to come in your heart. John 3:16-18 “For God loved the world in this way: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world that He might condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. Anyone who believes in Him is not condemned, but anyone who does not believe is already condemned, because he has not believed in the name of the One and Only Son of God. I believe what comes around, goes around.

      The lord gets me just the way I am as I was created in his image, using the term Karma does not mean I have not accepted Jesus as my savior it is a term just like Yin and Yang, or balance. I am thankful for all of the lords blessings.
