    I’ve found with some of my Hoyas that are doing what your Super Silver is doing and you’ve ruled out everything else, it’s usually past damage whether it’s under/overwatering, getting too cold, not enough light, etc. that’s caused the leaf wrinkles and even though it may be in good health now, the base leaves usually are the last things to bounce back. In some cases they completely drop their leaves even though there’s no rot and it’s putting out new growth. It could also be nutrient deficient, which like I said even if it’s getting the nutrients it needs now it’s gonna take a little bit to get back to the leaves. In my experience the krohniana varieties are more prone to being picky in this regard. As long as there are no pests, the roots are healthy, you’re getting new growth and it’s getting enough light then all you can do is wait. I’d be more concerned if more leaves start to wrinkle.

    I repotted a Xanadu and prince orange and it got root rot. So I cleaned all dead roots and put it in cup with perlite. Had to trim more roots after a week and lost several leaves on both. Changed perlite to pumice and after 2 months they are coming back. I am also rerooting a Hoya in pumice and another in moss. The moss is taking longer. Good luck w your Esmeralda😊

    Thanks for the video. Regarding the Monstera Dubia, here's resource info:
    Guttation is a process where droplets of xylem sap form on a plant's leaves. Guttation is a process where droplets of xylem sap form on a plant's leaves. Your monstera will actually secrete this sap from pores in its leaves called hydathodes.
    Haven't come across on the purpose.

    My Hoya super silver is doing the exact same thing as yours! I've taken some cuttings to propagate and only 1 has started to root, the others all rotted. No idea what's going on, the roots seem fine and I don't see pests 🤷🏼‍♀️

  • @slowvintagedays5963

    I tried to propagate a dying chain of hearts. A tiny string appeared and died. I left the tray for a while because I was upset! Yesterday I went to wash it out and nearly threw out 2 corms that it grew from just a tiny stem. YAY! I’ve put them in spagnum and fingers crossed.

  • @DieDieEla
    @DieDieEla ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hello Claire. Is it possible that your Hoya is getting too much fertilizer? A few weeks ago I suddenly had soft leaves on my Peperomia Milano. It wasn't the watering, roots were good. Until I read that Peperomia grow very slowly and therefore only need a little fertilizer. I immediately changed the soil and watered it exclusively with pure water and fortunately, after 4 weeks, all the leaves are back as they should be.

  • @jpgypsyxo
    @jpgypsyxo ปีที่แล้ว

    I think you did the right thing with the Esmeraldense. There’s a good chance that node will root and even though the main stem is dark at the bottom, it seems to be hard. So in that case, you’ll probably save it just fine!
    As for the Dubia, if that is the new leaf, there’s a good chance it just rotted. I’ve had that happen before and I just removed it and it kept growing just fine:
    ❤ good luck! Thanks for sharing Claire!

    I’m dealing with the same rot issue on a super white juvenile albo that I got a week ago.. it’s probably not able to be saved. $50 down the drain and I’m waiting on a reply from the shop I ordered from (there was multiple I ordered during a sale and that’s the only one that’s rotting on me), but the growth point was also super skinny and small. I hope they’ll offer something considering how much money I’ve spent in their shop in the last few months since the summer started. I don’t have $50 to just throw away on a plant that rotted, so fingers crossed🤞🏻the rest of the plants I’ve ordered from them are all fine so idk why this one rotted almost overnight 😭

    Hey Claire! I think I know what the mystery to the sticky substance on your lovely Dubia is.....Extra floral nectarines.... a sweet substance produced by the plant in order to encourage a symbiotic relationship with ant!.....and therefore protecting the plant....This is only seen in aroids apparently......only learned about this the other day on the internet....so you can look it up....hope this clears up this mystery for you....yes its to encourage any ants!

    I have an el choco, it was a wishlist plant as well! 😂 mine grows in room humidity (has since I got it), I must admit my rooms humidity is quite high, doesn't really fall below 60 and it grows really well now. May just take a while to adjust 😊

  • @Planted386
    @Planted386 ปีที่แล้ว

    I believe with the dubia you may be seeing guttation. The plant will excrete if it feels too saturated. So, perhaps if you water it through and it does this water in smaller amounts not fully through. Hope that makes sense. I’ve also seen this happening more frequently as temps drop here in fl, along with humidity. I will now back off watering as deeply.

    Hi I would say your Hoya went into shock. Should have cut some of it back before you repotted it. The roots can’t keep up with a big plant when roots have been disturbed through repotting. I would do a little cut back and see if that helps roots to begin to pass water to plant.

  • @danielm.1441

    Given your pest situation there may be _viral_ reasons why some plants aren't thriving. There's no real way to tell just by looking, but you can buy test kits.

  • @DieDieEla
    @DieDieEla ปีที่แล้ว

    How long ago was the repotting in semi-hydroponics? I've heard that sometimes it takes months for a plant to adapt. And plants show this through the size of the leaves they grow. Perhaps the plant cannot properly absorb the micronutrients from the fertilizer.
