Amazing it coped so well with tarmac. Trouble is you have now wrecked 3 blades by overheating them and a chisel for digging out the tarmac. A water cooled diamond saw is the correct tool for the job.

Great bit of kit.. after watching you're first video I purchased one. Latest addition is the triple cut blades can't wait to try it out. 😀

As long as you have some half decent blades a wall chaser will go through almost anything.

A 9'' or 12'' angle grinder with a diamond disc for soft material (yes, tarmac is classed as a soft abrasive) would have done the job quicker, easier and at a better depth.

Absolutely lovely bit of kit. I congratulate myself every day I get to use mine. And way cheaper then a Milwaukee or a Hilti, worth to mention!

What a legend, turning the audio down while using the chaser 👍

Wow! I felt sure that I would see the blades melting the tarmac and clogging up the Metabo! Personally I would have tried an angle grinder with a bunch of cheap Aldi blades, but hey ho, nothing ventured, nothing gained, it all worked out in the end. Well done!

Guess it might be worth getting a spare set of blades if you are going to make a habit of this!

How long did it take to get across the drive at the right depth?

Before watching: too much chance of sticky tar bunging up chaser and vacuum hose. Would have used breaker, pick, trenching tool. Did that with our house to replace lead water pipe, internet service provider cable, power to bike shed and light on wall with pavement. Then concrete and block paved over. Works great so cables and pipes can be fed through and pulled out if ever need to change them.

Definitely wants to be deeper, 450mm minimum and a duct would of been a good idea. The way I see it would you take the Niceic assessor to inspect it in your yearly visit. If answer is no then I’d try come up with another method of install

I would've put metal drill resistant tails capping over the cable, I do this with power to islands but it's easy being an armchair critic.
