For starters, they're not even allowed to practice tackling anymore. 2nd of all, guys rarely wrap and make good form tackles. Its all flying shoulders trying to make the WOW hit. Too many guys scared of getting ran over.

Good point. The Seahawks “Legion of Boom” & their rugby style tackle leading with the shoulder to the thigh with head “outside” the body instead of across the body & hooking the opposite leg & lifting resulted in a young defense with good pad level that completed the tackle. That defense was the result of NFL player safety initiatives prohibiting tacklers from launching, leaving their feet like missiles.
You definitely understand it. In case you haven’t seen it, there’s a video of Ray Lewis on the Manningcast talking about a defense missing tackles in a Monday night game this season. He gets frustrated at seeing defenders not making tackles & explains that in addition to sound tackling not occurring that the defenders aren’t focusing on angles that allow teammates to get involved as well. He says something to the effect of multiple defenders going to the ball, working as a team & sometimes just slowing the ball carrier allows a teammate to then make a tackle. He explains it as only Ray Lewis can & I don’t do it justice. But like you said, players trying to just throw a shoulder & get a knock down aren’t wrapping up & aren’t playing as a team. I feel bad for defenders getting fined or hurt trying to tackle properly w/out a penalty, but like you said, if they practice it (even against staff holding huge pads) then it can become second nature. So many players want to be credited with a big flashy hit that it reminds me of pass rushers who don’t work as a team nor put up their hands to deflect passes because they just want sack stats. Sorry this is so long. You just explained it well & know what you’re talking about unlike ppl who just hurl nonsense. Good comment. 👍

Simms is the man. Florio is palatable so h doesn't drag the show down. But Chris elevates to top level talk show. Great job.😊

Football tackling is not the same as in the past. Helmet to helmet and spearing were legal. Contact with receivers was legal. If you could tackle anyway you want, then tackles would go up and throwing percentage would go down. Quarterbacks wouldn't be protected in the past. Pretty soon players will be playing with flags on their hips. For the safety of all, the rules changed. All sports have changed their rules. Baseball doesn't allow pitchers to use foreign substances or sliding out of the lines. Basketball used to not allow the dunk. Basketball used to be more physical. I love watching old sport videos where hard contact was so much more prevalent. You used to watch football and hope on EVERY play your guy didn't get hurt. Times change.

Respect to Mr. Brooks, but all of those examples of tackles he described are dangerous, and avoidable, to Simms' point. Wasn't a thing during their era, shouldn’t be a thing now. Ban both of em.

@@562LA2THEBAY You think that’s funny… how about that Niners first half?
Maybe at the start of the season the league had decided it was going to be Ravens vs Niners in the Super Bowl. Then Taylor Swift showed up and brought new young fans into the picture and the league switched the game to the Chiefs vs Lions. The Commish made his pre-game phone call and the Ravens dumped their run all over the Chefs game plan.
Maybe before the Niners game, the league office called the Niners and Lions locker rooms and reminded them that since the Chiefs won their game, the Lions had to win their game - just as the LOGO colors suggested.
The Niners then proceeded to miss more tackles than they had all year. On the same TD run, both Ford and Young completely whiffed. On one TD pass, the Niners did not cover the receiver. The same thing happened on another almost TD pass, but Goff missed, thus only taking the 3 points. On 2 other long receptions the Niners just fell flat on the ground letting them catch the ball and run away!
BUT AT HALFTIME, the league office called the Niners and Lions locker rooms AGAIN, and this time they told them that TOO MANY PEOPLE had discovered that the games were FIXED and that the Niners now needed to win their game against the Lions so people could no longer say that the games were fixed.
The Lions then proceeded to go for it twice on 4th down, instead of kicking for 6 points. They also dropped 2 passes when they were open, and they dropped an interception that would have stopped a scoring drive. Then the Lions blew a timeout at the end, blowing their best chance to win the game. The Lions blew the Niners out in the first half, helped by bad Niner play. Then the Niners blew out the Lions in the second half, helped by bad Lion play. A simple phone call from the league office at half time could explain why.
In all seriousness, I would not put a phone call past them. I watched that first half of the Niners game knowing that they would now have to lose to make the LOGO colors correct. I was LOOKING FOR THE FIX. And as detailed above, I could see it in action. I could NOT rule a fix out. It looked like they were throwing the game. You can all re-watch that game and see it for yourself - even if you don’t want to believe it.
Chase Young and Zay Flowers are taking a lot of heat, but were they just doing what they were told? Was Young told not to make tackles? Was Flowers told to be the fall guy?
Look at it this way, there are 6 "coincidences" on the last 2 LOGO's, 4 for the teams and 2 for the winners: the color on the bottom. And on the new LOGO they put the 2 colors of the last 4 teams standing. That makes 8 "coincidences" in all. HOW MANY "coincidences" can you have until it's no longer a "coincidence"?
THE BIG PROBLEM WITHH THE FIX scenario is that we have got to believe that ALL THE OWNERS had a meeting and pulled straws or something to decide way ahead of time which 2 teams would be in the Super Bowl. The only way THAT makes sense is if the other teams were financially compensated by the winning teams.
Either way, it will be interesting to see what they do for the Logo next year. Perhaps they will go all CHROME to deny any FIX rumors.

@@spiritualarchitect4276Hey bro you’re pretty smart. I was thinking this all szn. Any way you’d be willing to network more about this particular subject? It seems less and less people really care about the integrity that goes into the game when it seems there’s a particular team that wins so much it’s like they’re holding Rodger goodell hostage. Speaking of which I heard he was strictly a Jets fan.

    • @spiritualarchitect4276
      @spiritualarchitect4276 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@shroudeddragon5579 Jets fan? I doubt it. Remember "Spygate"? The Jets head coach had been on the Patriots and he told Belichick not to film the Jets. Bill did it anyway. He knew they were secretly filming, so he told the league, and that's how Spygate started.
“Spygate” proved to me that Roger Goodell is owned by Robert Kraft. Ever wondered why the Patriots are the worst winning team in Super Bowl history? Where with almost a minute left in nearly every game they are either losing or tied?
It’s the Super Bowl - Patriots against the Rams - and Belichick is running along the sidelines screaming “Where’s Shawn?” The only reason Bill would need to see Rams coach Shawn McVay during the game is to watch what calls Shawn was signaling into the game. Shawn McVay does not play on the field. It should not matter where he is on the sideline during the game. Yet Super Bowl video of Belicheat shows him yelling “Where’s Shawn!? Where’s Shawn!?” during the game while frantically looking for him on the Rams sideline. Proving to us that he could not see the Rams coach and what signals he was sending in.
Which proves that they had FILMED the Rams sideline before their last Super Bowl, just like they had done to other teams before that. That is CHEATING, and the league knows it.
Don Shula did not call him “Belicheat” for nothing. There is a reason why the Patriots are the worst winning team in Super Bowl history. Why with less than two minutes left in nearly every Super Bowl game they are either losing or tied. They are not a dominant team, they are cheaters. They steal signals from the opposing teams to gain the advantage of knowing what plays the other teams are running.
The Patriots had also filmed the Falcon sidelines during the first half of that Super Bowl too. They got blown out in the first half. But during the long halftime, they studied the signals the Falcons coaches were using and then went out and stymied the Falcons in the second half. They won that game because they cheated by reading signals and knowing most of the plays being called ahead of time. Just like they did before Bill's first Super Bowl, when they filmed the Rams practices.
The Patriots got caught again after that when they filmed the Bengals. Yes they even filmed the lowly Bengals because Belicheat did not have any film on the new Bengals coach and his sideline signals.
That Commish Goodell let them off with not even a public spanking. Why, because he wanted to save his friend and supporter - Bill’s buddy Robert Kraft.
Yes Kraft, the guy who said, “I did nothing wrong.” Then when he found out that the cops had him on film paying for AND having sex twice, he complained “If that film goes public, I will not get a fair trial.” basically admitting that he was GUILTY. Then he paid off those involved to get out of it.
Kraft is a cheater and a liar who does not just buy off lawyers and cops - he buys off refs too, those on the field and those in the upper office. No doubt he bought off the Commish too.
Looking at the big picture. Kraft cheating the system is confirmation that the Patriots are cheaters. Not just the head coach but the owner too. And that is why I think Roger the Commish is controlled by Kraft, and why Kraft made sure Commish got a new contract this year. To keep him on his payroll.

This hip drop stuff is dumb. AJ Hawk (yes GB AJ Hawk) didn’t know what this was. You can pretend you are “player safety” guy but it’s too fast now to think you can stop this. Putting more on a refs plate with gambling involved now will not go over well.

It’s so painfully obvious how out of place Florio is with all these players and former players. He’s always on the outside looking in to Simms chopping it up like he’s in the locker room and they totally forget Florio is even there trying to nose his way in. They just recognize he’s not one of them. He was in chess club
