    Hey. I would not cut the philodendron. Just trim off the town spot if you feel you want to but I wouldn’t even do that. Let it rehab. Be patient. Find the right spot and leave it alone. It will come back if you don’t disturb it too much. That’s would be my approach anyway. BTW, I am so jealous of your space.

      Thanks Jim. I've trimmed back the brown, but she's just not looking very healthy and vibrant so I'm still potentially temped to chop at some point... maybe just take a cutting or two and leave the rest of the plant to do it's thing? 💚

    I would just leave the sodiroi aff for a bit. Let it settle in the new environment and chop it when it reaches the end of the planter. It’s not too far off needing a trim anyway 🙂

    Kind of comforting hearing its not always guaranteed plain sailing even for the experienced. Novice here on 1st winter struggling with how to manage plants and central heating together without issues so any little tips now it's winter. Misting regularly and monitoring soil moisture but have a bird of paradise close to a radiator with no where else it an go and whilst all ok now (he says 🤞) were now through it yet😀

    Kind of irrelevant, but I'm not too sure about the light point a lot of people say.
    I have three peace lily's. I have one on my western bedroom window cil, which gets around 3 hours of direct light in the winter and 9 hours in the summer, I have a peace lily pulled back away from my window cill, which gets around 30 minutes in winter and 2 in the summer, and I have one in my livingroom ontop of a bookshelf at the back wall. The one that is doing best is the peace lily on the window cill. Which, even though it's growing compact with it's one bloom being green (I think it was still adapting when it turned green, but I thought I'd mention it), is still growing fairly large leaves and the newer leaves it's grown in that position haven't burned at all, unlike the older ones that crisped a little around the edges when I first moved it.
    I have a really bright bedroom with a wide window and most of my plants get direct afternoon sun. Everything from my peace lily, to my spider plants, to my snake plants, to my tradescantia. From what I know, it's usually a watering or nutrition issue more than a light issue. Like, they can get sun burn if you move them into bright light too quickly, but if they're burning over long periods, then it's definitely something to do with the watering and nutrition.
    Personally, I find that the initial sunburn is caused by the plant having too small of a root system for the current light level it's under. Same thing with the heat or wind- It's usually caused by the root system not being capable of keeping up with its environment either due to a lack of root mass or care.
    OH- Also. I remember you mentioning that you were having issues with your spiderplant turning blue in a previous issue- That's a watering issue. I have a big spiderplant upstairs that I've grown on my bedroom window cill up until two months ago after it grew too big and fell off. It only turned blue after I entered a depressive episode and couldn't bring myself to water it. A lot of people say that they're drought resistant, but they actually kinda like a little more water than a lot of people let on. I was watering my big one every 5 days during summer when it was on the window cill which was the same amount as my large tradescantia nanouk that was on the same window cill- Yes, that one has now outgrown that windowcill too and fell off. It was recent, but I've given it a hard prune to the roots and now I'm waiting for more vines to pop up. (I have 4 plants in there, but it gave me like 30 different growth points around the pot.)
    But yeah. If you're willing too, I would heavily suggest moving one of your understory plants into direct light, I find that they grow so much faster in direct light with the right care. My big Spiderplant and tradescantia upstairs are less than a year old and I bought them both in two inch nursery pots, but they've grown so quickly during that time that my spiderplant has almost overtaken the stool I've given it as a stand for the time being and my Tradescantia has too many growth points for me to touch the soil. It's genuinely madness, I swear.

    I can't believe how quick that Splendid has grown, it seems like it was only a matter of weeks ago since you got her! I would be tempted to chop the sodiroi aff. back and they grow back so quick anyway. I recently had to chop my Silver Cloud back because of Thrips damage and it has given me more growth since chopping her than in all the time I've had her; plus I got some bonus wetsticks from her. Wishing Joli and Yourself all the best in your new home 🤗🤗

    thank you for your beautiful videos! I too have just moved into an incredible new apartment filled with light, and I'm just getting into plants. I just potted my first moss pole about 4 weeks ago. I was going a bit nuts trying to keep it moist in our dry Canadian winter, so I am genuinely grateful for the brilliant idea of putting plastic on part of it. I'm using a moss pole I made using your tutorial too! Plastic wrap plus a new humidifier means I may not give up on moss poles. LOL. thanks again for the inspiration!

    Your handsomely fine Monstera deliciosa that despite all the stress of moving house goes and boldly thrusts forth an even bigger, more interesting and healthier leaf than it has done before.. what an amazing and robust specimen.
    Can you tell me.. Is your delightful Monstera of a particular strain of cuttings raised plant colloquially referred to as "Large leaf form" and, are these Monsteras relatively rare, expensive and difficult to find? Because I find myself now to be rather zealously wanting to own one of those..

    I have a question about moss pole watering. Is the water not escaping on the sides? I tried the bottle method and the moss pole wasn't completely dry, but dry outside and the water was dripping on the side, resulting in moss pole not being watered and everything ended up in the soil. I needed to get a sprayer and spray from.the outside first. I really would prefer bottle method but then I would need to water it every 2 days which is not ideal :/

    • @TheJungleHaven
      @TheJungleHaven  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, spraying the pole first is the best way. Moss is epiphytic and unless it's had the chance to soften (if it's dry) then water will literally bounce off it. I pop a plastic cup with a small hole in on the top of my poles and just fill them each day 💚

    This is controversial I think but tbh when a plant has browning edges I cut it off in the shape of the plants leaves, so they’re smaller but look un damaged

    • @TheJungleHaven
      @TheJungleHaven  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not controversial at all, I do exactly the same! I just reckon the soderoi aff might be healthier if I were to chop and prop... Not too sure yet 💚
