For anyone in the UK, I've found Mary & May in TK Maxx over the past 2 months. I've bought the sheet masks (30 for £10!), the toner essence , serums eye cream etc. If it wasn't for Alice i wouldnt have known it was a brand worth trying out. And i love everything ive tried so far and have a nice back up of products to try once what im currently using runs out! I recently found Beauty of Joseon as well! 😍🤩
BoJ has some really amazing & gentle products. I actually gave up buying mists and sprays because I took a couple of already used face mist bottles, and now keep them filled with the BoJ Ginseng water toner... it's so light and calming and perfect for a spritz before serums. I almost wish BoJ would just sell it as a mist, but I'll keep using it that way even if not. Since I began doing that, I have given up on mists because although many are nice, none of them are quite as perfect. And Alice is awesome... we can maybe blame a pretty big slice of my K beauty products obsession on her. 🤣🤣🥰
yes! I found the mary&may suncream and their sheet masks/serums, etc. Definitely worth it if you don't like waiting several weeks for your orders to arrive (stylevana still works out cheaper for me and i don't mind waiting)
Mary & May = works 100%, I also use this around my nose & rosacea cheek area & the discoloration vanished. Amazing product, lasts a long time & will buy again.
Alice, it's so interesting to me that you applied face cleanser to dry skin because I've never lived outside the US and my parents (nor their parents) have ever lived outside of the western hemisphere (or below the equator either) and we've ALWAYS wet our face before applying face wash. Depending on the consistency, we may or may not foam it in our hands first, but it's ALWAYS going onto a thoroughly wet face, never a dry face. You're actually the first person I've ever seen who applies a soapy cleanser to a dry face. 😅 Update: I just asked my mom if there was ever a cleanser she used growing up that she applied to a dry face and she said Albolene (the solid oil balm) was the only one. That even when they didn't know any better and used Noxzema (😢), they used it on a wet face too.
The moisturizer looks interesting. It's got ingredients (cholesterol, ceramides and phytosphingosine) that I've seen a couple channels say are important for lipid function. I couldn't tell if there were fatty acids but that's also supposed to be part of that combination. Ah, sunscreen sprays...I guess no one wants to spray them in their hands for better application not to mention all the dispersants that take up almost half the room in the container.
Exactly, that’s the catch with sunscreen sprays. Spraying them directly just doesn’t cut it, and spraying into hands defeats the purpose for me mid-day! It’s kind of wild how many people don’t know that’s the right way to apply those 🤯
If you are living in hot climates do not buy the sun stick. I bought mine this year and i was showing it to my sister and she tried it. I put it my handbag. A few hours later, i wanted to used it and it was all melted downed into the cap. Abib doesn't do that but Mary and May sunstick melted cause it is too soft. I was so disappointed. Orlando, Florida!
Applying foaming cleanser to dry skin It’s such a strange concept for me Alice! Every time you mention doing that in your videos I get so surprised 🙈. I’ve never heard or seen anyone do that before. I always apply foaming cleanser to wet face with wet hands.
So funny! Yeah that’s the method that works for me, though the important part is foaming it before it touches my skin. I figure wet or dry skin probably works for most people?
One of the dermis on YT does it in her face washing video. She does that and then uses a moist washcloth. I forgot her name but she’s the blond one in NY.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME literally two days ago I was searching back on your channel your review on Mary&May products cause i have a few in my chart on yesstyle, perfect timing!
I love Mary & May! Probably heard of them from you at some point. I happen to like scented products and the Rose Collagen Mist Serum and the Calendula Peptide Sleeping Mask are 2 of my faves. Also love their 6 Peptide Complex serum. Thanks for a great vid! I now have some more products to try for my dry skin. Looooove your hat! It was made for you!❤
I purchased Mary and May cream, and I just fell in love with the cream. It nourishes and moisturizes the skin like a dream. I have a mature and dry skin. After applying other creams, I will run back to apply Mary and May on top of any other cream because it is that moisturizing.
I remember how much you liked this brand from your earlier Mary&May video, and their products look amazing for dry skin! Also love the transparency about active percentages and focus on sustainability. 👍
My husband and I both use the Mary&May 6 Peptide Complex Serum; He enjoys the texture and shows his buddies how nice it is. This is our first bottle and IDK but I'm doing something correct because 30 yr olds want our routines.
I have begun doubting myself after reading these comments! Yet I’ve seen estheticians do those “you’re washing your face wrong” video and show to use western cleansers on dry skin. It now remains a mystery! 🤣
Don’t doubt yourself! I always apply my creamy glycerin based cleanser on a dry face. If my face is already wet, it feels like putting cream on a wet face. It doesn’t feel like it connects with my skin. I don’t often use a gel or foaming cleanser but I do mix those w water in my hand.
I have normal to oily skin but I just bought the blackberry serum and cream cause I was too curious about them! I've liked everything I've tried from Mary&May so far, especially their heartleaf gel cream, it's so perfect for oily, acne-prone skin as a summer moisturizer!
@marg4581 the serum is nice, it sinks into the skin quickly and isn't sticky or greasy. It helps give a bit of a glow but honestly I haven't been too impressed. The cream I like less, it's a bit too thick for me and can make closed comedones pop up if I use it every day :(
Mary&May is one of my favorite brands. I use the blackberry essence and moisturizer for my night routine. And I use the blackberry serum in my morning routine. I use the essence near the end of my routine before the moisturizer. I appreciate the Idabenone in these products because I don’t tolerate ascorbic acid, but try to add antioxidants whenever I can. I use the blackberry’s multi sun balm in my eye area and I do not have stinging despite the fact that my eyes water a lot. I have dry, mature skin and rosacea.
Omg Alice i just place an order for their idebenone moisturizer and serum, you read my mind! You’re the one who convinced me to buy it but I didn’t expect a second review!!!
@@happyface9956 yes its pretty lightweight even tho I don’t have dry skin like alice. I have combo oily skin. Ivuse it day and night. Thank you for the recommendations Alice!!
I LOVE LOVE THE EYE CREAM like I used it for a month and I noticed a change on overall tone of my under eye area? I don’t know how to describe it but I love it! ❤️❤️
I love Mary and May! I’m almost through my first bottle of the blackberry cream essence, and I just opened the cream a week or two ago. So nice! I also purchased a box of their sheet masks, the niacinamide/vitamin C in particular. They’re lovely. Great size, soaked with product. And I love that it’s far less wasteful since you get 30 of them in one container. But I do need to watch your video on how to make my own sheet masks eventually.
Yep, I tried those a while back too! It’s a better system for sure. I also loved storing the box in the refrigerator; always had cold sheet masks on hand!
Many of my American cleansers instruct us to apply them to a damp or wet face. But I’ve not seen anyone suggest your method, which I’ve found to be genius level. For one thing, it’s easier to apply, and it rinses off more easily. I wish butyloxctyl salicylate wasn’t in the sunscreen. I can’t even try it.
Is the essence hydrating enough to use as a toner/essence in one. I don't like using a toner and essence as it drags out my routine, so I am always in the hunt for a product that can do both ❤
Please make a part 2! I ordered the cream over a month ago from YesStyle and am still waiting for it. Now I REALLY want it to get here so I can try it!
Thank you Alice, this video came right on time! I just purchased 4 products out of 6 you talk about. I tried the Sunstick before it’s very nice, will purchase the essence after I finish Rovectin and Haruharu
I have seen a few people talk about this brand and their products looks really good. I got one of their sheet mask packs where you get 30 in one box, as I love those. I want to try their face cream, that is on my to try list. The sheet mask boxes from Mary and may are the main things I am interested in
Your channel has very quickly become my favorite place to see skincare reviewed and honestly right now just my favorite place on TH-cam in general 🩷 I think the first video of yours I found was the one about different K/Jbeauty retail websites because I was intimidated by buying from such unfamiliar websites, but I wanted to try Korean skincare. Then I fell down the rabbit hole! I have a list going of products I might be interested in trying and since I found your channel it's gotten a lot longer 😂 I love your videos Alice, good work!⭐
I enjoyed it! That’s in my original video if you want to see more, but short version: I love that they actually disclose the peptide percentages - very few brands do! It surprises some people to see the lower numbers, but it’s fairly close to the recommended use levels of each per experchem (the peptides vs the peptide complexes - which is what causes confusion I think!)
... up until the Biossance Elderberry cleanser or the Grown Alchemist cleanser, I didn't realize it was typical in the west to put cleanser on dry skin. And I'm US born-and-bred 😂
Does anyone think there will be a Stratia Black Friday sale?? I’m soooo tempted but I already have 2 100ml moisturizer back ups and will only stock up if there is a good deal on the egg.
Hello :3 Thank you for your videos! Since you are one of the only english speaking youtubers who covers Chogongjin - will you consider making a full brand guide? :3 Just watched your video and decided to try youngan cream + sosaeng toner+essence combo... After using Sulwhasoo and BoJ - having high hopes for Missha :3
i have combo skin but this brand still works amazing for me because i just use it everywhere except for my nose. the products look so luxurious and feel like it as well. probably my fav korean skincare brand
Thanks for the review on this brand. I bought the serum and I'm using it for about a month now and it was a choice just for the ingredients. Glad someone talk about it! By the way, how many drops do you use? I'm afrain I'm using to little.
Hey Alice, it looks like Idebinone is so not enough in this serum which is 0.1% when the effective percentage based on research is at least 0.5% as far as I understand. Isn't it?
The blackberry cream was too rich for me and my skin is on the drier side. I think if I would've tried the blackberry cream essence before the dr ceuracle kombucha essence, I probably would've enjoyed it...but unfortunately I didn't lol The dr ceuracle kombucha essence is such a unique product and I say that in a good way. It's hydrating and moisturizing. Besides the lovely color of the mary and may, I just didn't wow me. I think my love for the dr ceuracle kinda set it up to fail.
I like them both, with the one caveat that my Dr. Ceuracle started smelling off! Granted, I keep my house warmer than most, so that might not happen to everyone
@@AliceintheRabbitHoleI haven't experienced any issues with mine. But I know heat ruins products. I ruined a few products ( in my bathroom) last winter from constantly running the gas heat. I ended up turning the vent off in my bathroom. My fiancé noticed it was a lot cooler in the bathroom so I felt like I had to say something. I told him I shut it down, too bad so sad put your big boy undies on and deal with it lmao 😂 And that was the end of that lol
I LOVE the calendula sleeping mask over my regular night moisturizer and I like the large packs of vitamin c and niacinamide sheet masks. Feels less wasteful than individually wrapped masks. I have also used the blackberry essence- so moisturizing! Really like this brand over all.
Alce, I opened a new bottle RNW ceramide serum last night and I know we're on Mary and May but, I was reading on my RNW box and (50) ppb was listed on the back for the cooper tripeptide1. Is (50) ppb worth worrying about mixing with my other products being such a small amount? I want the benefit of all the good things cooper tripeptide 1 has to offer but my skin has so many concerns. I'm 51 with melasma and dehydration with lines and acne prone. OMG!!!
IMHO, I wouldn’t worry about interactions at that level at all, but I also wouldn’t count on the benefits. Per experchem, the use level of CP starts at .05%!
I currently use the eye cream and I love it. I need to try some more of these products. Is the antioxidant serum better for past sun damage than the Vit C derivatives? I can't use L-ascorbic acid. You really rock hats girl!! 😊
Hi Alice! I’m about to make my first yesstyle purchase , do you think the cosrx propolis sleeping pack is good for extremely dry skin? This winter has my skin feeling SO tight every morning and I need a sleeping mask without fragrance that will help. If not do you have a recommendation?
I do like that one, but I wouldn’t put it as the most potent occlusive. Have you tried/are you open to a petrolatum-based product (ie Aquaphor?) I don’t love how those feel BUT I confess it’s the best for extreme dryness. You will not wake up dry, but instead you’ll still feel it on your face - that’s a sensation that has a time and place!
@@AliceintheRabbitHole you are correct… I hang out at Florida theme parks and those crazy people are spraying more sunscreen in the air than on their children and on themselves
I am born and raised in the west but never have I applied cleanser right on my dry skin. I use foam cleansers and it's just intuitive for ne to foam them up and apply. I also was shocked by the latmrge amount if product you used in past videos. I think it's your habit and not a western thing. Love you though, not meaning to criticise. We often think what we do or how we think is how the people around us think, but that's often not the case.
I’ve tried the “essence” and serum.. and must admit I was disappointed..no noticeable changes from the serum, even after 2 bottles..and the essence wasn’t as hydrating as advertised..but everyone’s skin is different, lots of trial/error to find my holy grail in each category..just watch 2 other TH-camrs that reviewed the exact same products as you.. lol
Hi Alice, Happy Friday💜💜I want to try out Mary and May, have a few of your picks.💖 in my cart at yesstyle. A strange situation came about today from stylevana and since u are an affiliate, maybe can give some advice, lol.😂 I was waiting on my second order, then i recd an email stating that they do not have enough inventory for skin1004 sunscreen, numbuzin no 3 glowing toner and pykung yul calming toner. Will send me refund and ship balance of products to me. I have been waiting 18 days so was not happy. I am out of toners so went on their site and found the exact items for sale, lol. Now I live in the west so I can understand if I lived in a far flung country but I am so frustrated that I cannot trust myself to respond.😂😂 Yesstyle can have my money😁
Yeahhh, I love them but I will admit: this is par for the course with them. The items still aren’t “in stock”, but rather they’re anticipating the arrival in the future. My best tip with Vana is to place orders just over the free shipping minimum. Every order ships out when all items are in stock, so splitting up orders means you might wait for half your items vs the whole order if one item gets stuck! Nonetheless, it is why I do understand when people choose to go with other retailers. They have the best prices, but there are a few…let’s say “quirks” with them!
Really????!!! Didn’t know westerners apply cleanser over a dry skin. I mean its understandable when it comes to balm and oil, but foam and gel cleansers? It just sound so… wrong? Lol
I have liked their products I have tried. I always have separate products for if my skin, or it's barrier decides to have a fit. I add the Purito Galacto-niacin essense & Skin1004 Centella serum to add to Propolis & the Mary & May essence. So nice!! My skin only takes one night to be happy again, so I am pretty happy with the products. I love that gel cleanser also!! So nice, and it feels cool and soft. I'd like to try a couple of their serums and moisturizers, but as we know I went wacky during Prine days, so I am TRYING 😬 to wait until post Yule/Christmas... I'll probably fail though the minute the sale prices show up. 😂😂 PS I wish more people wore hats. They just add that extra touch to any style. 🩷
Oh that’s a wonderful list of soothing products! And yup, I’m doing everything I can to bring back hats - so many people do not know about their greatness. I’m trying to get the word out there: cute and stylish AND added sun protection 😁💕
Personally, big yes. The hyalu-cica feels made for oily skin types (which I do believe skin1004 says as well). These Mary & May products feel perfect for dry skin, and if you want to add in acne-fighting, look into the RNW 4-terpineol, cos de baha azelaic, or the Lion pair acne cream ☺️
For anyone in the UK, I've found Mary & May in TK Maxx over the past 2 months.
Odile Monod's channel also covers this (she's located in Korea).
I’m on my way to doing that 😁 glad to hear there is interest!
@@db-gb5xi yeah, also a fan
She said she'd publish a chogongjin full brand guide last january, but for some reason it didn't happen :
i have combo skin but this brand still works amazing for me because i just use it everywhere except for my nose. the products look so luxurious and feel like it as well. probably my fav korean skincare brand
Thank you for sharing your experience ☺️
This products look very interesting…..will give it a try. thanks. can you do body wash and lotion vidio?
Yuuup, I’m thinking it’s about time for an updated bodycare video 😃
Wish you reviewed their 'Calendula Peptide Ageless Sleeping Mask' it has 25 PEPTIDES!
Somehow I missed that product entirely! Will have to try it in the future ☺️
I always skipped over Mary&May. I might pick up that cream because my skin need something thickkkk.
Thanks for the review on this brand. I bought the serum and I'm using it for about a month now and it was a choice just for the ingredients. Glad someone talk about it! By the way, how many drops do you use? I'm afrain I'm using to little.
Can i use vitamin c serum with the idebenone cream ?
How does this MM blackberry essence duffer from The Dr C kombucha one ?
Loved the serum and I def would love a part 2 !
Verrrry similar feel, different extracts (blackberry vs kombucha) ☺️
Which derivative? They each have different research (some more than others 👀)
I was considering the Klairs Freshly Juiced Vit C Charging Serum.
Alice can i ask if the idebenone moisturizer and serum are safe to use with Differin?
I see no reason why you couldn’t, although personally I do antioxidants in the AM and retinoids at night ☺️
How long did it take for that routine to dry down?
It stays looking glowy but not feeling heavy! I’d say it’s the essence most of all, that contributes a lot of glow
I don’t like spray sunscreens because I feel as though I am inhaling way too much and I am pretty certain that my lungs don’t need… sunscreen
Yup, you’re actually supposed to spray them into the palms of your hands first on a technicality. Almost nobody does that though 👀
@@AliceintheRabbitHole you are correct… I hang out at Florida theme parks and those crazy people are spraying more sunscreen in the air than on their children and on themselves
@@AliceintheRabbitHole I did NOT know that
I am born and raised in the west but never have I applied cleanser right on my dry skin.
That is indeed a very good point! ☺️
I’ve tried the “essence” and serum.. and must admit I was disappointed..no noticeable changes from the serum, even after 2 bottles..and the essence wasn’t as hydrating as advertised..but everyone’s skin is different, lots of trial/error to find my holy grail in each category..just watch 2 other TH-camrs that reviewed the exact same products as you.. lol
It’s so true! Thank you for sharing your experience 😊
Yeah, u are correct, it was a large order like $230 worth of stuff, lol.😂 well, lesson learned, yesstyle is a bit pricey but so fast in shipping💜💜
Great products. You look super cute. Have a great weekend ❌️ ⭕️
Thank you, hope you have a great weekend too! Stay warm!!
I shop at blooming coco and oh lolly
I hear bloomingkoco is Stylekorean? Or a sister company maybe? I want to try them for sure
👍👍👍
🐰
Hi. ❌️⭕️
Really????!!! Didn’t know westerners apply cleanser over a dry skin. I mean its understandable when it comes to balm and oil, but foam and gel cleansers? It just sound so… wrong? Lol
I’ve gathered it’s not everyone, but that’s how I did it my whole life 😅
Faux Pas 😂😂😂😂
😏😏
PS I wish more people wore hats. They just add that extra touch to any style. 🩷
Oh that’s a wonderful list of soothing products! And yup, I’m doing everything I can to bring back hats - so many people do not know about their greatness. I’m trying to get the word out there: cute and stylish AND added sun protection 😁💕
Would you reccommend this over skin1004 hyalu-cica line? 🤔
I have dehydrated dry and acne prone skin 😂🫶
Personally, big yes. The hyalu-cica feels made for oily skin types (which I do believe skin1004 says as well). These Mary & May products feel perfect for dry skin, and if you want to add in acne-fighting, look into the RNW 4-terpineol, cos de baha azelaic, or the Lion pair acne cream ☺️
