  • How do you install a standing seam metal roof on a house using weathertight warranty details? MORE TUTORIAL LINKS ARE IN THE DESCRIPTION BELOW!
    **********************************
Standing seam metal roofs look great, last a long time, and stand up to extreme weather, but that is all dependent on the quality of the installation. Today on The Metal Roofing Channel, Thad is joined by Matt Lane and his crew from Metal Construction Solutions and Installations to demonstrate the process from start to finish. The team installs an inch and a half Snaplock panel on Adam Mazzella's 3,000 square foot roof. Use the links below to watch more detailed tutorial videos about each step.

If you have vents on the front of the house, Its practicable sometimes to move the plumbing vents to the back of the house if you can get into the attic. The back side vents can be moved most of the time just a few inches. You can use a couple of 45s to offset the vents so they align.

Excellent work, definitely not easy. They should invest in a hemming machine for the trim blanks that has a perforation tool for ventilation on the z bar. Then they can attach the ridge cap on the perforated z bar with color matched rivets. Looks way better but A + for job in total. You would be lucky if your roofer is doing the project as good as these guys!

I wish there were more craftsmen like this. Today's installers are crap. I had to argue with Lowe's for about a year to have them send someone out twice to fix my siding. Lowe's tried to say for me to contact the contractor that they gave the job too. I pointed out I purchased the siding and also paid for the installation. Since they took my money for both then subbed out the labor they are responsible and a judge is going to tear them up. I literally had to call Lowe's corporation and inform them if it wasn't fixed I would be placing a lien on Lowe's. Holly Molly, Lowe's sent out a siding specialist subbed out with in 72 hours. I highly recommend getting references from developers that do mid to high end homes. That's where you're going to find the best tradesmen.

Thank you so much! I'm a middle-aged homeowner in a different state, talking to a roofer next week about possibly doing a metal roof - something that could outlast me! I know nothing about roofing, but I so appreciate videos that actually show and explain some details, get me used to some of the vocabulary, etc., so maybe I can at least ask the right questions. The workmanship on this roof is amazing, but so are the explanations and the filmography. It is clear you're a professional bunch! Thank you all!

Very good installing singles off ,plywood repaired or replaced ,tops.
I had my roof done by contractor , first a liner all over the roof than they placed 1 X 4 vertical 16” hart op hart screwed on the plywood and rafters underneath. After that they installed 1 X 4” horizontal also 16” apart. Then they installed the standing seam steel as advised by the manufacturer. The crew was experienced with standing seam steel roofs . Although i insisted in the vertical installing of the 1X 4”,S.

    Interesting stuff.
Run a metal roofing company in Australia, totally different systems over here..like we have a roof peno we always tray it and would never shoot screws into a sheet pan.

I’m in NZ & our code is similar to Aus. Another thing that amazes me about US roofing is that there are no hems, or upturns on the valley trays to stop wind driven rain. Our valley trays are always recessed one inch below the roof level. We also turn down the edges of the sheets into gutters!

In Texas we would use a radiant barrier sheathing to re-deck a building. Newer sheathing panels such as zip roof already have the weather resist coating on them already. Saves labor and time.

My old boss would've made me seam those overlaps, but y'all did alright. If you vented the Z's, you could use Cobravent stuffed in the peak, that way your cap is continuous across the top with no screws.
Good job on that stack. I never thought to box it in like that over the locks. I generally fabricate the stacks on-site, adjusting the layout so that nothing land's on a lock, taking the angle and incorporating it into the pan itself.
Good chimney work too. I'm used to working with lead, but you can make it look good with metal as well.
    Awesome job, I'd recommend you.

I really like this video and appreciate you educating potential buyers of metal roofing. I, personally, would really like to have my roof replaced with metal once it comes time, but my concern is most contractors just want to get the job done. Do you have a video in your library that helps buyers make sure they are hiring actual professionals rather than hacks?

GREAT production, I have leaking issues with a Pipe penetration for stove vent, on a STANDARD metal roof, it's beside a ridge & it appears I need a prefab box like y'all use @ 29:28 to get away from the ridge & extend UP where a boot can be mounted flush, WHERE can I buy these prefabbed extension boxes????

Great video...Do you have to end (or splt) the new plywood over a rafter or just bang in anywhere on the old plywood.

hi, thank you very much for such detailed video. I'm dreaming to get such roof on my house, but it seems to be impossible to get contractors for our small house. Such roofs are luxury item here in Ukraine.

This crew is doing the absolutely best install of a metal roof. Way more quality and craftsmanship than I've seen from other installs.

Wow this is an amazing install video and I admire the craftsmanship. Several questions.
The bottom end of the panel? What does the install guide say about dog earing or filing the open area with sealant?
The pipes. Wouldn’t sliding those metal covers over them create an ever so small area water could get in from?

I wanted to do standing seam but I'm building my house solo. I've never done it and am running outta time. I'm gonna have to go with regular steel roofing unfortunately.

Now, if you were doing solar panels using S-5 clips, would you double up on clips holding the roof on?

Damn! I wish people like you were here. I had to put some missing or not properly installed shingles on my roof by myself after I noticed that my metal roof, making frightening sounds when it's windy here 😬
Never underestimate roofing guys and hire experienced and good contractor or else it will cost you a lot like me
    :(
Roofing looks and sounds simple but it needs precision and takes longer than most people think!
