I remember when the ride operator would take your name and ET would say it at the end. I was a little kid at the time and that was honestly the coolest thing ever! Made my whole trip.
Steven Spielberg said himself if this ride against taken down he will basically Sue Orlando even though that ET ride is outdated and everything he literally said himself that if ET ride gets taken down he will have a fit with Orlando so that's why they kept it for so long which I think is awesome because I love the ET movie as well as a ride
I rode this ride for the first time 2/22/22 at 29 and I was amazed also I feel like people are so busy looking for the imperfections they don’t realize how amazing it is
I remember when I was a kid in very small town in Brazil watching the movie in my humble small tv room. I never dreamed I could afford to go to universal studios, then when I was 46 years old I could afford to go there. Ir was a dream that came true. I can’t express my feelings at all ❤
I vividly remember riding this when I was very young. I'll never forget the feeling of truly believing I was flying through space. I even remember holding in my breath because I was scared there would be no air!
As a 26 year old who rode this last year. I will never turn down an opportunity to ride front row with the basket holding E.T. I did it twice. I asked them both times and they let me lol. Truly a timeless classic ride made after my favorite movie of all time.
I wouldn't worry. Steven Spielberg made it clear that the E.T. ride in Orlando has to remain permanently in the park. He was upset when it was closed in Hollywood & Tokyo. So he used his business relationship with Universal as leverage to make sure the Orlando version would never close.
It should be updated. I could see this being one of the better dark rides at Universal. Imagine if they turned it into a vekoma flying coaster (new generation like F.L.Y.) or a vekoma motor bike like tron.. ugh it would be so good!!!
I’m 20 years old and have been lucky enough to visit Universal Studios Orlando three times, and ET will forever be in my list of favourite rides! such a great film and this ride just makes me feel so nostalgic
Went as a kid in LA and now want to ride this version in Florida. ❤ Visiting the USA from New Zealand and riding ET was one of my earliest memories. I was scared yet exhilarated and found it magical. I even got a huge ET doll to take home.
I am from BKK. Back in 1996, I took almost 20-hour flight to Universal Studios Hollywood with my parents. It was my first time both in the States and USH. I never forget this E.T. ride. Especially when E.T. said my name at the end of the ride.
So glad to see this in high quality. My dad visited Universal in the nineties and showed us exciting kids the crappy VHS recording he made. It’s great to finally see it in good quality.
i use to go to the one in California everytime I went, it's definitely one of my favorite dark rides of all time and was bummed when they closed it down. i didn't realize there was one still open. thanks for posting this was a great nostalgia trip
This ride and mummy are universal's best. It's the imagination and world building that just blows me away. the amount of hard work in making so much of that world actually there is just mind boggling. It reminds me of Japanese Disney.
Forreal! It has such good bones and it's clear that people still love it - just needs a bunch of updates to modernize it (even just a fresh coat of paint and some new lights would breath new life into it).
I miss this ride at Universal Studios Hollywood. In my view, they should've kept it and put The Mummy attraction where that Backdraft show was located.
Peter Pan but ET haha. Love seeing ET's planet in the Neverland portion. Never saw that in the movie. Appreciate the effort made here, even if the age does show.
Me and my sister went to Universal Studios last year, we were mostly in Wizarding World but on the last day we walked around and decided to hit this ride last. Someone there told us it was the last original ride from when the park opened years ago. I'm so glad we went here. It was so amazing; the mechanics of it, the little details from the movie, but the craftsmanship that went into it was amazing. All laid out and built, no greenscreens or anything. Not dissing the rides that had greenscreens or projection at all. It was more like seeing where amusement rides started at and how far they progressed, best of both.
Rode this for the first time last week and it ranks in my top three favorite Universal rides. Only problem was the ET head wouldn’t rise from the basket which really stunk since I was lucky enough to get that seat.
I remember when I was a kid I got creeped out waiting in the line for this ride. It seemed so real and it also felt creepy when his teacher showed up and said stuff.
I remember my first time on this ride and at first I didn’t want to go but it turned out to be amazing for me and it is one of my favorite rides in universal studios
i miss this ride a lot i remember every time i eat food with my family we would ride this after we eat since it’s calm and it gave us enough time to digest
Wish Universal Hollywood kept this. Never got to ride it. I'll have to venture to Uni FL one day to experience this, along with the bigger and better HP world over there.
Unfortunately the 1 in Hollywood wasn't under contract with Spielberg. The 1 here in Orlando is written into a contract so Universal can't touch it without Spielberg's consent. He helped build the Orlando park.
Lol, same here because the bike is open and no way to ride without hands and feet outside the bike. In other worlds, there is no inside and outside line on the bike.
I miss this ride :’c we used to have it at Universal Hollywood but not anymore 💔 I loved this movie so much as a kid & I wish I could get on this ride one last time as an adult 😩
For such heavily themed ride, it would have been nice if you had walked the entrance queue also, i really liked the woods at the beginning but it was only seen for short time.
A follow forest ranger pointed out that's me saying, "Watch your step." Yep that's my teal waterbottle! Haha I've been watching your videos for years now I'm working in one.
I remember being on that ride as a kid and the first half of the portion I thought the police animatronic are so real, thought maybe real people played them. And yeah it used to be at the end where ET would say your name. Some high tech stuff at the time
I haven't been on this ride in 3 years thankfully me and my family will be going back August 2025 il be first in line for this ride when we get to universal studios I miss it so much
We were there in 2016. After my wife got very sick after we rode the Simpsons ride, ET was very good to recover from. But the big highlight for me is the forest at the entrance.
Having rode this as a wee lad, I did not remember the total shark-jump that is going to ET's home planet on a bicycle, but nevertheless I am here for it
Hollywood's version was shut down a while ago, but Florida's probably isn't going to close for a while because Spielberg threatened to make sure Universal can't use any of his movies in the parks if they take out ET, meaning that they would have to take out Jurassic Park (and possibly Jurassic World), the Jaws section of the tram tour in Hollywood, the War of the World plane crash section also at the tram tour in Hollywood, and possibly the Men in Black ride (I'm not exactly sure how involved he was with the film, but he was creative consultant for the ride)
Such a confusing ending. So you are on E.T's home planet? And you saved it somehow? Also a race that is technologically advanced enough to develop ships capable of interstellar travel but somehow hasn't figured out houses?
I remember when the ride operator would take your name and ET would say it at the end. I was a little kid at the time and that was honestly the coolest thing ever! Made my whole trip.
Me too! I miss that day🥲
i didn't know he can do that, but that must have required E.T.'s voice actor to say every name in the world
I always say that my name is Joey - it just sounded funny when he said Joooweee.. 😁
They don’t anymore? Omg that’s so sad, that was like one of my favorite parts of the ride!😭
It was so fun
Steven Spielberg said himself if this ride against taken down he will basically Sue Orlando even though that ET ride is outdated and everything he literally said himself that if ET ride gets taken down he will have a fit with Orlando so that's why they kept it for so long which I think is awesome because I love the ET movie as well as a ride

Old, but gold!
I remember this ride had a unique, forest-y smell inside unlike any other ride.
Yes!! That’s what I can remember about this ride the most
Right when you walked in the cue. It's so immersive.
E.T. Phone Home👆
It still does! They changed the scent a couple of years ago to be more potent. The smell is a looooooot stronger now.
Today it smells overwhelmingly like fake pine XD
I remember when I was a kid in very small town in Brazil watching the movie in my humble small tv room. I never dreamed I could afford to go to universal studios, then when I was 46 years old I could afford to go there. Ir was a dream that came true. I can’t express my feelings at all ❤

This is my most favorite ride out of any park. i hope it is never replaced
Friend I might have some bad news
I was terrified of ET as kid. My parents made me go on this rie and I cried through the whole thing.
YEAH SAME I RIDE IT EVERYTIME I GO!
I wouldn't worry. Steven Spielberg made it clear that the E.T. ride in Orlando has to remain permanently in the park. He was upset when it was closed in Hollywood & Tokyo. So he used his business relationship with Universal as leverage to make sure the Orlando version would never close.

I saw this for myself when I went to Orlando last month and it truly touched my heart. E.T. The Ride is a true Dark Ride and a work of imagination.
So glad to see this in high quality. My dad visited Universal in the nineties and showed us exciting kids the crappy VHS recording he made. It’s great to finally see it in good quality.

Man I loved this ride when I was a kid glad its still there.
Still an amazing attraction, but it’s time for Universal to give it the enhancement and investment it deserves to bring it back to its very best.
Forreal! It has such good bones and it's clear that people still love it - just needs a bunch of updates to modernize it (even just a fresh coat of paint and some new lights would breath new life into it).
“WELCOME HOOOOOME…
…YOU’VE ARRIIIIIIIVED!”
Best part
That just turned from a scary ride to Peter Pan’s Flight
SO TRUE LOL
I miss this ride at Universal Studios Hollywood. In my view, they should've kept it and put The Mummy attraction where that Backdraft show was located.
Another favourite ride of mine. I love ET ❤. Very clever! He called my name out at the end of this ride.
Peter Pan but ET haha. Love seeing ET's planet in the Neverland portion. Never saw that in the movie. Appreciate the effort made here, even if the age does show.
best smelling ride in the world!
I feel like the animatronics need a serious upgrade as well as some effects. I think it would help extend it's quality of life for sure

Rode this for the first time last week and it ranks in my top three favorite Universal rides. Only problem was the ET head wouldn’t rise from the basket which really stunk since I was lucky enough to get that seat.
I remember riding this ride 10 years ago and I actually got to sit in the front where E.T. would wake up
I remember when I was a kid I got creeped out waiting in the line for this ride. It seemed so real and it also felt creepy when his teacher showed up and said stuff.
Hope Spielberg never allows Universal to replace this. The video can't capture the smell of the forest or how cool flying over that city setpiece is.
日本でクローズしただいぶ後にアメリカで乗りましたが、何故なくなったのかわからないくらい楽しかったです!
why did this attraction close in US japan.
it's so very exciting.
My favorite ride! I wish they would update ET would be even better!
I remember my first time on this ride and at first I didn’t want to go but it turned out to be amazing for me and it is one of my favorite rides in universal studios
It's joy to just sit in line for this ride
We just went on this and it was out first time! A little outdated compared to the other rides but it’s must do ! Great vid !
If I remember correctly, this is the only original ride left in the park, that's why nwn (almost since the opening, i mean!)
It was amazing when it first opened and it's still a good ride
Memories... Thank You.
i miss this ride a lot i remember every time i eat food with my family we would ride this after we eat since it’s calm and it gave us enough time to digest
Almost felt like I was flying with ET on the bike! Thanks for sharing! /Piee89 Sweden
DUDE I only remember this ride so well because i'd dream about it as a kid and thought I was actually flying on a bike lol this ride was awesome
Wish Universal Hollywood kept this. Never got to ride it. I'll have to venture to Uni FL one day to experience this, along with the bigger and better HP world over there.

I love that ride happy st Patrick’s day SoCal attractions
Omg thx for the reminder lmao
@@Lolamirciofficiallll Np xd
I remember riding on this ride over ten years ago at the universal studios in California and ET said the wrong name to me at the end lol.
I swear they told us to "keep your hands and feet inside the bike," so I spent the rest of the ride trying to figure out what TF that statement meant.
They have it in Orlando maybe one day you can come!
For such heavily themed ride, it would have been nice if you had walked the entrance queue also, i really liked the woods at the beginning but it was only seen for short time.
This ride is really beautiful wow
I rode this ride with my family and it was epic!
I can *smell* this video.
A follow forest ranger pointed out that's me saying, "Watch your step." Yep that's my teal waterbottle!
Haha I've been watching your videos for years now I'm working in one.
This is one of my favorite ride at Universal Orlando.

such a good ride
Did Universal Studios Hollywood ever had this ride a long time ago because as a kid I remember riding this ride.
Yes it was replaced by The Mummy, I believe. I last rode it it 1995.
We were there in 2016. After my wife got very sick after we rode the Simpsons ride, ET was very good to recover from. But the big highlight for me is the forest at the entrance.
小学生の頃、並ぶところの木の匂いが大好きでした
最後にETに名前を呼んでもらって喜んでた記憶
もう一度乗りたい…
Lmao my niece that’s like 7 years old started to cry on this ride
I’d come all the way from Japan just to see this beautiful scenery of LA in person
LA sucks. Used to live there and hated it
Brando Caspian To each their own.
@@brandocaspian4034 People seem very mean there
@@brandocaspian4034 LA Traffic sucks
Great video my friend!!!!
After I rode this attraction, what I felt was that E.T. was living on a really scary and horrible planet.
This is my favourite ride!
really cool looking ride! Thanks for sharing!
This and the mummy are my favorite rides.
I rode that in 3rd grade and it was terrifying to me
I can smell this ride
We only see the back of E.Ts head covered by a blanket in the basket. I so badly want to see the front to see if it’s blank or if there is a face.
Cette attraction est juste parfait 👍
Ask E.T. if he is a Jedi, and report back what you find out.
The weird Gilroy Gardens part at the end is the only issue I have.
Uhh...am I misremembering the end of ET?
I too was like um? What is this ending?
Having rode this as a wee lad, I did not remember the total shark-jump that is going to ET's home planet on a bicycle, but nevertheless I am here for it
Thank you for this upload! I hope I can revisit this ride again before they shut it down. Anyone know any updates with that?
Hollywood's version was shut down a while ago, but Florida's probably isn't going to close for a while because Spielberg threatened to make sure Universal can't use any of his movies in the parks if they take out ET, meaning that they would have to take out Jurassic Park (and possibly Jurassic World), the Jaws section of the tram tour in Hollywood, the War of the World plane crash section also at the tram tour in Hollywood, and possibly the Men in Black ride (I'm not exactly sure how involved he was with the film, but he was creative consultant for the ride)
I get very emotional in this attraction
USJから無くなってしまったのが本当に惜しいなあ
I remember you would give the attendant your name and ET would say it at the end
Do they do that still?
@@normalstranger just went several days ago, they didn't. When I went circa Late 2017 however , they still did.
This ride gave my trauma that I'm still not over 28 years later
I think I remember that ride wish i was young again
I love the ride E.T
Never knew there was a ride to cool.
2:27 "E.T... Go to the Duty Free.. Hurry!"
When they fly over the city it looks very similar to the Peter Pan ride.
Great ride but the end is weird.
this looked more epic as a kid
I only visited this park twice, in 1991 and 1996, and BOTH visits this ride and Jaws were down for maintenance.
Reminds me of the Peter Pan ride.
Such a confusing ending. So you are on E.T's home planet? And you saved it somehow? Also a race that is technologically advanced enough to develop ships capable of interstellar travel but somehow hasn't figured out houses?
Great point Joseph, never thought about it that way!
wonderfull!! next The Silence of the Lambs ride.
My mom rode that attraction when she was young during the 90’s at Universal Studios Hollywood, sadly this attraction no longer exists
I can smell this ride lol my favorite
FASCINATING!🙂❤👍
Still a classic ride❤❤❤
I haven’t been on this ride since I was a kid
I have been in this rideand is amazing
Where is this I did not see this at universal
E.t.'s folks are cute
That's a good ride
This is cool it was smelled nature
How are you aloud to record on that ride. Are you aloud to record on a universal ride
How … is it like Peter Pan’s Flight, suspended from above?
