- I bought a bunch of these engines to experiment with B20+ (20% Biodiesel) home Biodiesel production (for better lubricity). Heavy Duty 6hp HD300D max 4.4kW diesel engine. 296cc putting out 4kv of continuous output. 1" shaft turning clockwise from the fly wheel end. 3.5L (.925gal) capacity. Engine dry weight is 33kg or 72lbs. The motor as seen runs smoother at the higher rpm's. It is a beast with torque and is a great motor for the DIY person. I will post other applications for this motor in the future. The "Throttle Bracket" is spring loaded so you can set up a throttle cable to a handlebar or foot pedal if you like.
I'd love to find a really small diesel like this with a turbocharger. That's how you get efficiency out of diesel: small and blown.

+Chuck Small look on ebay the parts are easy enough to get i would compair yanmar with briggs and stratton of the small diesel engine world.. the china clones parts work on yanmar's and visa versa
How many hours can you run before it needs a rebuild. I am off the grid and the winter months I run my home made gas inverter gen 24 hrs a day. it's hooked up to a external gas tank. never shuts off. I go through a engine a year. love to go diesel.
the fuel filtr is inside the fuel tank on the fuel outlet. the hand start withe the recoil rope is somtimes very difficult, specially with old engines and low ambiente temoperatures.
an electric starting motor i much more rel liable
what kind of compression ratio does this engine have?
I noticed that he did not pour the diesel through the filter but the removed the filter with the cap and then poured the diesel straight into the tank. That fuel filter is there for a reason and I think he should have used it!
we want ECM controlled single cylinder diesel engine. whether this engine is?
I have been running this engine for over 2 years now on an irrigation pump. The engine has a manual compression release, so it is not hard to start, and almost always starts on the first pull, even when it is cold or runs out of fuel. The filter in the tank neck is a pre filter and can be taken out and cleaned. It has another, replaceable fine filter in the fuel tank that filters the fuel before it goes into the injection system. it is an aluminum block with a steel, or cast sleave. It has been very reliable for me. It has no electrical system at all. I do not know the compression ratio off hand. It is quite high and the compression release is a necessary to get it cranked. It is almost impossible to pull it through with the recoil starter without the release on and probably would result in a broken starter or starter rope.

6hp from a 300cc engine?...Seems very low.
the tolerance of these engines are much bigger than an enginie on a car. Yes, those on a car will produce much more power than these stationary engine, but a car engine can't be on full rev for 2 hours without exploding ;)
the HP here means 746 watt .. really this engine power = 4.4*2=8.8 HP .. this is what the manufacturer told me that each 1kw requires 2 hp mechanical power.because the efficiency for the mechanical power will not exceeds 60% at best case

what is the cost of this engine
Do these run well on off-road (red) diesel? If so I might buy one of these for a tractor I'm redoing. Even though a diesel engine of this size has about the same power as a gas engine, but it'll use way less fuel doing the exact same amount of work.
off road diesel is exactly the same as regular diesel, just taxed differently. it has red dye so if pesky highway cops want to dip in your tank they can tell if you have ripped off the government for a few cents
I know. But the cheaper prices does add up over time. But in some cases its sold as an unmarked blend of biodiesel about a B5 rating.
How do you kill the engine?
