"You eat pieces of shit for breakfast?" One of the best comebacks in movie history. Also, Fun Fact: Bob Barker's only request when asked to be in the film was that he won the fight, so they had to do a quick rewrite to let him win. RIP to the legend.
R.I.P. to the only person who could take a surprise hug or anything else that a "Price Is Right" contestant would dish out!! So taking a fight with Adam Sandler is worth it!! And funny AF!! 😂😂😂😂 I miss him SO MUCH!!
My favorite line is when Happy says, "Happy learned how to putt. Uh-oh." It is such a subtle but powerful insult because it would instill so much fear.
"Is he exploiting the senior citizens for cheap labor?!" Ben Stiller plays fantastic villains and I wish he would do so more often. Definitely don't miss him in the summer camp comedy Heavyweights (It's almost an origin story to his character in Dodgeball 😉)
I enjoy your commentary on both first time movies and movies you've seen before! A mix of both is really good and also allows us to get to know the kinds of films you've already seen and what you think about them. Like you said, it also lets you give more of your perspective, which is why we watch your videos in the first place!
Carl Weathers should do more comedy. I saw this as a kid when it first came out and he’s definitely not forgettable. Shout out to Richard Kiel for all the Bond fans out there. You cast the dude that played Jaws, you’ve helped your film.
For some reason they cut out the part with Ben Stillers' comeuppance; there's a scene where Happy learns about all the abuse and throws him through the window like the IRS agent. It's included when this airs on TV but somehow it's usually NOT in the home releases...
Pro golf has lots of sponsors. As you said it's often a rich people sport, the exact kind of people that banks and investment firms and such want to advertise to.
And this movie came out right around the time Tiger Woods became a professional golfer. The sponsorship and prize money exploded even more as more people started watching. The winner of the FedEx Cup title wins ten million dollars and the winners of major tournaments win millions of dollars too.
Clariss Richard Kiel aka Bond's Jaws was awesome this movie as Mr. Larson. Kiel was known for playing "heavies or villains", but like Addams' Family's Ted Cassidy aka Lurch were gentle giants.
Adam paid his tribute to his Gilmore's costar, Bob Barker on his X's (Twitter) account. Both of them became good friends right after movie completed. Barker agreed for the cameo if he wins the fight.
Clariss Homeless Caddy is played by one of Adam's best friends, Allen Covert. Allen and Adam were classmates in college. Allen works for Sander's Happy Madison in mainly producing even though he acted in most of Sandler's movies.
Congrats on getting married with TimotheeReacts because you mentioned earlier when I watched his reaction with you on 13 Going on 30 and I wished him congratulations on getting married to you on his channel and now I'm congratulating you on your channel, also I love this Adam Sanlder movie it's a bunch of fun 😄👏🏻🎊🎉💕⛪🤣🎥
@@callmeclariss Your welcome also I forgot to mention that when you wanna start doing reactions to Christmas movies since it's the holiday season I highly recommend you watch MouseHunt (1997) because it's my favorite Christmas movie and it's an underrated cinema gem in general 🙏🏻💕🎄🎥🐁. Please and thank you
I mostly prefer first time reactions, but these occasional revisits are a lot of fun, especially since it seems as though you don't entirely remember these movies. :)
Good to know! Yes when it’s a rewatch I genuinely try to watch films that have been atleast a 5 year plus that I haven’t seen them! Some it’s 10+ years, so that I remember as little as I can to enjoy it better for y’all 😊
It’s not golf, but a friend of mine drag races and all the money comes from sponsors. His engine alone cost around 40k and he’s walked away with huge purses after placing during a race
Lifelong golfer/golf fan. The prize money for events is primarily driven by TV contracts and sponsors advertising. On the PGA Tour the leading money winning this year was Scottie Scheffler with just over $21M earned. There are smaller tours where up and coming players start out or where less talented players play. One step down from the PGA Tour is the Korn Ferry Tour and the 2023 money leader earned just under $700K to give context. The money mentioned in this movie is pretty accurate for 1996. The prize money for golf would skyrocket over the next 5-10 years because of Tiger Woods attracting more viewers and thus advertisers.
I know that Happy Gilmore was a box office success. it was 38.8 million. and the budget was only 12 million. and successful commercial with mixed reviews. but who cares LOL. I still enjoyed the movie and to this day I still do. I just subscribed to your channel not too long ago. and I wish your channel all success here on TH-cam. and in your life with respect and kindness always talks with Chris
I'm really glad for your honest reactions, in addition to these movies that you re-visit. It is a lot of fun having a different kind of commentary when you're already familiar with the creative work; more breathing room to talk about your appreciation. So really, any of these reaction varieties is always welcome! :)
This is the beginning of Adam Sandler trying to find that balance between raunchy, raging, angry 90s guy and goofy romantic comedy leading man (see: Wedding Singer). He's a lot more of an angsty teenager in this movie, but there are subtle hints of him heading in a softer direction. This is pre-American Pie, so pretty much all raunchy 90s comedies at this point were PG-13 and never got too over the top. No nudity, sex mostly off screen and 1 f-bomb max just so the kids felt like they were seeing an adult movie. Everything was just "suggested." And a lot of bathroom humour. It's nostalgic for me, and it's good to see Carl Weathers AKA Apollo Creed from Rocky in something. I think this is really where Sandler's career takes off. I wasn't really aware of him as a comedic actor until this.
Water boy, Happy Gilmore and Little Nicky. All you need for good laughter. If you want Drama, take Big Daddy you get emotional and laughter and if you want romance: 50 first dates.
You asked if anyone thought an orderly could get away with killing a resident. A case at a Kentucky veteran's nursing home saw an orderly kill a resident by smashing his head into the wall multiple times. The director of the facility erased all the security footage and claimed the man had a seizure and fell. When his family came some of the residents who witnessed the attack pulled them aside and told them the truth. The family went to the police, who had never interviewed the residents and just took the director's word. After that the director claimed it was self defense. The over 200lbs orderly had to bash the frail, nearly 90 year old man's head into the until he cracked his skull open in "self defense". Yeah, right. The kicker, by the time the case came to trial, the orderly had returned to work being assigned to watch over the very men who were set to testify against him. Now, probably out of fear, none of the men would testify and the murderer was free.
Odds are her husband didn't build that house but yeah, it's ridiculous that once you bought the house and paid for it, you still have to keep paying for the dirt it sits on.
If you watch movies you've already seen and add your perspective as an actress, I'd be down for that! I'm a filmmaker myself, mostly behind the camera (writer, director, camera, editor, etc..) so hearing an actors approach to filmmaking would be great to know.

I prefer the first time reactions because what i typically enjoy most are legit reactions from seeing things the first time that i know are coming. But occasional rewatches would be good, my only suggestion would be movies that you haven't seen in a while.
Business owner near a town with a country club. A lot of the prize money comes from the sponsors. The club called me to see if I'd be interested in having my business logo on the back of the schedule pamphlet. $100k for the bottom tier
as a new watcher of your channel With Golf its all because of the Sponsors of the Golfer and The Pro Tour itself that brings in all the money!! For Instance Phil Mickelson has sponsors with Nike and with certain makers of golf balls and clubs that he uses that brings in the money and at each pro tour spot the location has a main MAJOR Corporate Sponsor that hosts that weeks PGA Tour stop!!
I've no issues w/ movies you've seen before. If I like the movie, I'm a watching. Most of sports make money via multiple sponsors (like Coke, State Farm, Colgate, etc.) advertise for brand recognition, and TV deals which pay organizations like the PGA big money to televise their events. Sometimes entry fees are steep. There are other ways, but those are the biggest sources of revenue for such events or seasons.
definitely one of his best comedies but he does have quite a few great comedies that I'd be hard pushed to choose his best! As for the not-first-time watch, I think its fine as long as the commentary keeps up, a lot of not first time watching reactions tends towards forgetting to comment on stuff they may have mentioned the first time through. After all, we here to hear peoples thoughts and enjoy the great moments with others! As for the sports competition money, its sponsors and entry fees, membership fees and so forth. Golf in particular has a rather rich background so sponsor money and membership fee's will probably cover most of it.
Advertising and TV deals. Same with all pro sports. That's why the cars in NASCAR all have stuff painted on them. In the NBA, the salary cap is determined based on league revenue. In 2022, the NBA made over 10 billion in revenue. The WNBA made 90 million. Which is why players in the WNBA make nothing compared to NBA players.
I prefer your first time viewing reactions, but I also see the appeal of you re-watching movies you've seen before. So I guess I like a nice balance of both lol I only like Ben Stiller in over the top roles like this. Tony Perkis in Heavyweights, Mr. Furious in Mystery Men, Zoolander, and Dwight Goodman in Dodgeball are all hilarious. I don't like him as the loser nice guy like in Something About Mary, Meet the Parents, or Along Came Polly.

Christopher MacDonald and Carl Weathers make this movie for me. Macdonald is so great at the prick villain role.
ABSOLUTELY!
He almost channels Ted Knight from Caddyshack. Very similar personalities.
