  • There were changes in the later transit upfitter switches wiring that were not shown in the BEMM (Body and Equipment Mounting Manual)
This video has some great tips for earlier vans, but they do not apply for 2020:

So helpful! Thank you! I haven't even gotten to the step of wiring yet, but great to see that Ford makes it so easy... LOL

Thanks for the video. My Transit came with almost everything in the upfitter package except the switch assembly. I bought that and am ready to install the 43-pin and 6-pin (C33-H) harnesses per your video (both of which were supplied in a bag when I bought the van); however, I'm missing the harness that would connect the switch assembly itself to the two harnesses. The BEMM shows this as items 5 and 6 (page 168-169), identified as "Auxilary Switch Pack Connector" and "14A348 Jumper Harness." The SVE Bulletin Q-250 changed the latter to "14401 Harness." Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find this part in any parts searches. This appears to be a 10-pin connector, but much smaller than the 10-pin that's used for the under-seat Vehicle Interface Connector C33-E (page 159 of the BEMM). Did your van come with this harness or do you know its part number?

My van came with the switches installed and wired. I don’t know that part number of the harness, sorry!

Thank you very much Elin. I just picked up my 2022 Ford Transit 350HD and they gave me these 2 wiring harnesses but couldn't tell me what they were for. Now, because of the research you did, I can now tell them what they are for. Would you know of any changes between the 2020 and the 2022 models? Would you know where I can get that Ford document you referenced in this video?
    Thank you again.

Great info Elin, but its a pity you do the job for Ford Cy and spend 2 days and Ford cannot even complete a manual. No Ford for me, thanks

For a Brit its quite odd to see Americans recently starting to use Transits as they have been an iconic vehicle on UK roads since the '60s. Little known fact is that the first Transits which were designed in the UK and used some work from Ford in the USA.
The word 'Transit' is used to cover any panel van regardless of make. Its the 'Hoover' of vans at least over here.
Great work with that wiring though. And THREE batteries?

      Great history lesson, thanks!
Yeah, the owner ordered it with a dual alternator, dual battery package with the idea to use one as a house battery. However the batteries came permanently hooked up in parallel which doesn't make much sense as they should be isolated. I didn't want to mess around with the original wiring due to warranty, so we just added another house battery.

I have to apologise for writing 'Americans' to a Canadian when I meant to write 'North Americans'.
      Mea Culpa!

Thanks for this video - it was very helpful. I'm still having one problem I hope you may have some ideas on. On my 2020 Transit, Switches 1 and 4 are working just as expected (these are the outputs made available via the "big" connector. However, the wires that *should* be controlled by Switches 2 and 3 (via the small connector) are *always* hot - it doesn't matter if the switch is in the on or in the off position. Did you experience anything like that, or would you have any ideas on how to correct this issue?

Hey! I just had the same issue. Your 6 pin plug is in the wrong connector. The correct connector is on top of the aux fuse box rather than behind like you have it. It should have a dummy connector in it like the big wiring harness did
