Thank you so much. Converting my 2018 Transit and now I am glad I hesitated in making a hole for shorepower until I saw your video. Very nice solution.
just watched this again 6 months later and I jumped again! I love your videos, I always can use a dose of comedy plus I like the detail of your vids. Thanks for taking the time to include the details. Another plus - no additional holes in the van!
Hahaha! We love everything about your comment! 😆❤ We're glad you find the video helpful and that we could provide some laughs! Have you been building out a van? We hope you keep following along and that we hear from you again!
@@SteveAudra yes, I'm building out a van. Slow going and I'll keep referring to your vids as I'm doing now. Have begun the wiring phase. I have loads of screws too that I don't know where they came from or what were originally for. Trick is finding them when needed. Because of location, would this be better with a GFI?
Steve, you did a great job and made it look simple....but someone was missing in this video....Audra! My favorite blooper was the first one, so relatable.
@@OurRetiredLife Nope! My only 'hand' in this video is the music and the video thumbnail and description! Steve says he's starting to get the message. LOL!
@@OurRetiredLife LOL! Open mouth, insert foot. I'm sure we've all had moments like that. But neither of us were offended that you thought the hand was mine.
When I added outlets, just to be extra safe and cautious, I used GFCI outlets. Since your outlet is by the door and could get wet, a GFCI outlet might be a good idea.
@@SteveAudra oh wow that pretty smart running the solar cables from there less fishing and more direct to the batteries . I made the mistake running it near my fan up front . I had to fish the wire through my interior to battery in the back . Awesome thanks again
Thanks and thanks for watching. The reason I didn't use those black plastic pieces is because I felt they weren't in terribly tight. I suspect it might not survive the removing of plugs without becoming detached.
Thanks! Someone suggested that we should use a GFI outlet as that area could potentially get exposed to the elements. That's a good idea. Eventually we'll probably upgrade.
We plug that power strip into the outlet we installed to give us a few more outlets. It also provides us with a simple on/off switch should we ever need it. Additionally, most power strips also have a surge protector built into them which adds an extra layer of safety.
Hahaha! Thanks! It's been working really well for us - although I think we'll switch it out eventually with a GFI outlet as has been suggested just in case we have to open the doors in bad weather.

@@Kayte... Yes, a GFI would be a good idea. We've been meaning to replace our outlet with a GFI but just haven't gotten around to it.

Thanks so much, Sheila! Steve is turning into a real MacGyver! 🙂 Sorry I didn't make an appearance. I should have played Vanna White!
Her hand made an appearance I think, holding the outlet in place :)

Thanks, Charles. That's an excellent suggestion.
Thank you for sharing! I was looking for a no drill solution for my van build and this will work great! Cheers
Glad we could help and good luck with your build!
I agree with dont honk! That was pretty funny 😄. Good info Steve! Missed your face Audra!
Thanks, Christina! Sorry I didn't make an appearance but I appreciate that you missed me and I'm glad Steve provided some bloopers for you!!!
Guys thanks for this video, very helpful we also have. Ford going to look into this...thanks Steve, thanks Audra 🤗❤️🚐
Thanks so much, as always, for watching! We're glad you found it helpful! 🙂🚐
Ha, good job on this! Hoping I can do something similar on my Ram Promaster 1500. Appreciate you showing this process!
Thanks for watching, Gina! We hope this will help you as you tackle yours!
Even though I knew it wasn't plugged in, I was still startled. lol
😂
Very clever install!
Thanks!
I love this so much! Thank you!
We're so glad to hear that! Thanks!
I laughed so hard at the gonna wanna's I didn't finish the video😂😂
What you're gonna wanna do is finish watching the video. 🤣
Awesome job finding that hole. Now I am thinking what else I can put in there ? Cable line ?
Thanks! We're glad you found it helpful. There are all kinds of things you can run through those columns. We just ran cords for solar from the roof!

You're welcome. By the way, just watched your video of getting stuck in the sand. One of our worst nightmares. Glad you got out.
@@SteveAudra lol yeah I freaked out before I filmed it . You can say I was throwing sand
Great video! I’m curious to why you didn’t use the original black plastic for the plug surrounding?
Thanks and thanks for watching.

What is the power strip next to your shore power plug you installed? Thank you!

@@SteveAudra I have a power strip that I am going to use for the same thing!
Thank you! Is the hole large enough to thread a small drainage hose through?
I believe you shouldn't have any trouble. Might take a little finesse but should be doable.
@@SteveAudra Thank you!
Like the fact no holes drilled in the van
Thanks, Mark! We try to avoid putting holes in the van.
Can you do this on the driver side? or only on the passenger side? Great video.
Thanks! I believe it's the same design on the driver's side except you may have the factory switch to deal with.
Haha I like how u counted them lol
🤣
Very funny ending!
We're glad you thought so! 😄
Why didn't you mount the electrical box to the stock plastic piece that was already fitted to the hole?
I suppose I could've but I feel those plastic covers aren't too secure. May not stay in place when removing plugs.
I think I'm gona wanna do this hahaha
Hahaha! Thanks! It's been working really well for us - although I think we'll switch it out eventually with a GFI outlet as has been suggested just in case we have to open the doors in bad weather.
Does the shore power kut require a circuit breaker?
We don't have a circuit breaker with our setup.
10:56 is best part
😆
👏👏👏
Thanks!
Don't pop that tab out all the way.
Not funny at the end! A bad word popped right out of my mouth!
Haha! Sorry, Debby! I've told Steve many times not to put forks in outlets.
