So ONE OK ROCK is band from Japan and formed in 2005. Band have 4 members Taka (Vocalist), Toru (Guitarist), Ryota (Bassist) and Tomoya (Drummer).

@@EshplumeReacts So the singer is Moriuchi Takahiro, Taka for short. (His band mates call him Mori-chan, which is a cutesy nickname derived from his last name). He is the eldest son of famous (in Japan) enka singers Mori Shinichi and Mori Masako. Enka is a genre of popular music based on Western pop but with a Japanese singing style, it's very popular in Japan. Taka's dad sold 90 million records. So music is pretty much in his veins. He wanted to be a singer rather than study in school, which his parents opposed, but he was allowed to start training with a J-pop agency called Johnny's. He was trained to be a pop idol (he can also dance, yep). But he didn't really like it, and his stint in a boy band was cut short when a photo emerged of him having his arm around a girl's shoulders. (Japanese pop industry is strict with artists, cannot date). So 16 year old Taka started going down the wrong road, he started drinking and smoking and had a huge quarrel with his parents. He packed his stuff and ran away from home. He started working in a restaurant, and he said later that the experience humbled him (he used to be a cocky rich kid). That's where guitarist Toru comes into the picture: he saw Taka perform with a cover band in a small club and he was immediately smitten by his voice. He just formed a new band with high school friends and they had no singer. He literally STALKED Taka into joining them :DDD Fortunately Taka finally gave up resisting and joined. That was in 2005.... they have a lot of genres, from pop punk to hard rock. They also have a couple songs where Toru raps (like Yume Yume). Taka is an extremely good singer, and his stamina is just out of this world. he has a 30 second long high note in Clock Strikes (Luxury Disease tour live). All of their concerts are super high posiitve energy from song 1 to song 22. Never a dull moment. They also claim they never fight and they think of each other as brothers. Toru (guitar), Tomoya (drums) and Ryota (bass) are all married, Tomoya and Ryota have kids too. ryota's wife is Avril lavigne's sister btw. We are all waiting for Taka to finally join the marriage train LOL :)) Well, sorry for the long-ass introduction :D

A little background, One Ok Rock started in 2005, and they are in their mid 30s now. Taka the lead vocalist is a son of both famous singers in Japan, so his talent runs through his blood. They are popular in Asia and they will be in their World tour this coming September. My recommendation is “Deeper Deeper” in Yokohama
Stadium.
I recently discovered this band maybe 4 months ago...and as I was watching their live performances I totally fell in love with them I was telling myself that I need to go to see them live and recently they've announced their world tour so I bought tickets,booked the flight and now I'm just waiting for October to come quickly 😁

Japan has a wide variety of music, songs, and artists. and Japanese music is very diverse. Japan's music industry has long been the second largest market after the United States .
Until recently, Japanese artists had a language barrier and the Japanese domestic market was too big(The Japan music market is the second biggest in the world,) so they were not actively selling overseas, that's why most of the artists are not known outside of Japan, But Many of the songs that were hits in Hong Kong and Korea other Asian countries in the 1980s and 1990s were Japanese cover songs (many of them were popularized as songs from their own country). However, with the development of TH-cam videos and subtitles, language barriers are disappearing. so there are still great finds.
Another thing that may be helpful. In Japanese music, lyrics are an integral part of the song. They are quintessential. Recently, Japanese music videos seem to have English subtitles for the lyrics.
You may find it more enjoyable to listen to the song with English subtitles (CC) .of course Not all Japanese song lyrics are translated but you may them interesting.
I sometimes see people searching for Japanese music by genre on TH-cam.
In Japan, it is often the case that music is neither produced nor listened to by genre.
That's why I think it's difficult to search for Japanese music by genre.
But that is also the Characteristic and good thing about Japanese music.
The live quality of Japanese music is high, It's very organised. but if you want to find Japanese music other than MVs and LIVE videos, the Japanese music content ``THE FIRST TAKE'' is a convenient way to find a wide variety of Japanese artists, a few non-Japanese artists appear.

For heavier stuff I would listen to Mighty Long Fall, Deeper Deeper, or Ending Story
I recently discovered this band, but it has become my favorite. They have plenty of heavier songs. My favorites are: One by one, Take me to the top, Make it out alive, The begging, Mad world, Ending story. Their concerts are better than their videos. It's better to watch live performances.
Check out song We Are from AMBITIONS JAPAN DOME TOUR. They are amazing, live performance is always better than studio version. The lead singer is Taka, guitar Toru, bass Ryota and drums Tomoya. The are big in Japan.

Actually that minute of silence was for his friend Chester Bennington, they were set to tour with Linkin Park when Chester passed away! They've been around for almost 20 years so it's hard to choose a song , but check out WE ARE and especially RENEGADES from their 2023 LUXURY DISEASE JAPAN TOUR.

this performance was a classic from way back in 2011, and is a showcase on how they are so good even way back then. o o r is a Japanese rock band formed way back in 2005 and had their first album released in early 2007. All four members are now in their mid to late 30s but look way younger because of genetics I guess. this is crazy considering the fact that plastic surgery is frowned upon in Japan. they are like druids; ageless
he is Takahiro Moriuchi ( Taka ) thats how they call him , well he is from Japan altho i think some period of his life he lived at USA , he is at it since 2005 (thats when that band was formed) and about his personall life i don't really know that much , but i know that he has a younger brother that he is also a singer in a Rock band , his parents were also singers ( i think 1 of them was of opera music , i think his mother) and well he did had struggles with his parents like divorce and i think they were kinda pushing him too , but well i don't really know a lot on that but he definitely had family struggles as far as i can say , his and overall this band's great inspiration was mainly linkin park and Chester Bennington was like an idol for taka (and later on his friend too) and u can see kinda some linkin park influence on this band overall like some screamo etc , and ofc when chester passed taka was hitted by that too , he also participated into the memorial concert of linkin park for chester , also there also u have *Toru* Yamashita (Guitar) , *Tomoya* Kanki ( Drums) and *Ryota* Kohama ( Bass ) , at any case definitely u should go down that rabbit hole they are really good , their style is mostly alternative rock but they have same variety like this song which is more of a rock balad , or they even have some accoustic , and some metal but yeah their usual style is more alternative-emo rock , U should react to Dreamer or We Are , if u want to have some better understanding of them and of their music
Taka voice is just insane sometimes i breath for him.. i think he sometimes forgets how to breath 😂

So I’m not the biggest OOR fan (I mostly know about them because I do listen to his younger brother’s band My First Story 😂) so I trust others will correct me if I’m wrong, but I read somewhere that the long pause at the start was extra long as a moment of silence for Chester Bennington cause they were supposed to tour with Linkin Park… 😢

It really annoys me that people recomend this song out first for this band because they have no context as to what it even means. Anthony ray’s is stupid for this. This song is wonderful but it needs to be shared later and given context first
