I could watch and listen to this video forever and never grow tired of it. An amazing rock ballad from an amazing rock band!!! It is a treat to see the bands do the songs live note for note. Not like this music of today. I have always admired Foghat since the early days. Although this isn't all of the original members, they could not have found a better replacement for Dave Peverett when he died of cancer in 2000, than Charlie Huhn. He filled some very big shoes in my opinion. Charlie was great with Ted Nugent as well as Humble Pie. A very talented musician. As I understand it, Charlie recently retired from the rock world. January 21, 2022, when Foghat announced that Charlie Huhn decided to retire. He well deserves the break and rest!!! Bryan Bassett was another fine replacement on lead and slide guitar, (former guitarist for Molly Hatchet). Also may Dave Peverett (Lonesome Dave) always rest in peace!!! He was great!!! Rock~N~Roll Outlaws, Stone Blue, Fool for the City, Slow Ride, and I Just Wanna Make Love To You, are all definitely other great tunes!!!
I believe this was Lonesome Daves favorite song that he wrote. Thanks to Roger for keeping the band going . As with all Foghat songs, they never get old. Just the vinyl they were recorded on .
This song came out in the summer of 1979. It has a personal connection tragedy to me, a good friend of mine who was a Foghat fan took his life in July 1996.
A thousand years could pass and this song would be timeless. I just love this song so much. Love can be cruel but it can be beautiful with the right person 🎶
No offense to Great White but it cracks me up, when someone mentions them right off, when I use the line, "Once bitten, twice shy." I'm always taken back to this song when it comes into my mind. Awesome song and many fond memories surround it.
I love to play along with 3rd Time Lucky (Key of B: E-F#-B) using Bar Chords. My guitar is tuned to standard tuning so that's the sound I'm getting. My Favorite FogHat song :)
CHARLIE, PLS PLS PLS COME TO ENFIELD, CT FOR THE 4TH OF JULY CELEBRATION, SAW YOU GUYS THERE A FEW YEARS AGO, PLS COME BACK, LOVE TO SEE YOU AGAIN !!! CALL THE TOWN HALL NOW TO GET IN FOR NEXT YEAR !!!!!!
I was lucky 2 see them w/ B.O.C. @ the Walworth county fair. Thank you. They didn't headline, most people felt B.O.C. blew 'em out of H 2 0. . My opinion only, While B.O C. Jocked 4 positions up & around each other, foghat played 4 da love it!! 4th L.P. I $ 4 was Fool For the City!!
The lead singer (sorry, the name fails me) makes reference to "Third Time Lucky" as an early 80's release. In fact this cut/album reached us GI's in Korea in 1970/71. Comments/explanations are welcome, thanks.
This song.... helped get me thru some rotten times, back in the day. Anyone relate to this??
Yes. But Stone Blue sure got me thru!
Sure thing pal you are not alone in this game 😢@@dirkmcgurkin1272
My favorite FOGHAT song by far. Wish they would have played it 20 years ago when I was their bus driver, I never get tired of hearing it.

This song was released in the fall of 1979 and came from the album 'Boogie Motel'.
No it didn't. It was from 1979 Boogie Motel.
Nice performance, but still waiting to hear when this song was first recorded. Anyone? Please?
It was released in 1979 on the Foghat Lp : Boogie Motel .
I believe Boogie Motel album was recorded in Port Jefferson, N.Y. in the spring/summer of 1979.
RIP Ron and Dave.
John fogerty sings third time lucky.
Charlie Huhn was the Best!
Remindes me of a girl that I foghat no forgot to tell how I felt about her.
Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1979! There Buddy!
Do you remember the 80s...of course not
Too bad they never played it on the radio. Great tune.
It was a single. Got plenty of radio airplay.
