That might not be legally permitted, but unless they are taking more than they need, or committing excessive property damage to gain entrance, then they should be forgiven or at least exempted from criminal prosecution. Doing what you have to in order for you (and your immediate family) to survive such a disaster not looting and should not be treated as such. The state can decide whether to enforce a civil penalty or other sanction at a later date or to adjust its laws accordingly.

One of my best friends lives in Old Fort.She and her husband had a tree fall on their house,which they have built themselves,over the years…the house was also flooded. She and I met in College I 1973. I love her and her husband and I am so glad they are okay,now.

They didn't know that my grown son was sitting in the car and he jumped out and they ran. He slept in the car every night with a pew. There are those that help and there are those that help themselves. SMH

Samaritans Purse has been on the ground here with supplies and generators for the homeless. Much better response from them than any other relief organization. Give to Samaritans Purse instead of Red Cross if you really want to help these people.

People were not prepared and didn’t store any food or there stocks were either destroyed or washed away. They are now starving.
After Hurricane Michael in 2018 people would go to empty homes and strip them of copper.
