they wrapped up the chel story nicely. but by settingaperture in the same universe as black mesa that means she gets out at the end to pressumably a earth thats taken over by the combine. or just completely dead because its been 9999999*@#&£!? years. the laco of enthusiasm for half life episode 3 could have been fixed by tying these characters together and having theme work together to free earth. rather than endong portal entirely amd never using ay of those characters. and then having a weak "gordon cant defeat the combine" ending to half life that no one wanted to make. chel, glados, atlas, pbody working together with gordon, alyx, barney, sheppard etc. along with gravity gun and portal tech, theres so much more potential there than just the aurora boreallis plot

It could be a Sequel(different character or Chell). It could take place at the same time as Portal 1(different character). It could take place at the same time as Portal 2(different character). It could take place between Portal 1 & 2(different character). etc. We've heard from multiple sources at different times that certain people involved with the first 2 games(I'm sure even people who weren't)are interested in making a third game. We've even heard that there was an attempt to make Portal VR, but that was obviously a challenge. It's just a matter of when we will get Portal 3, not a matter of will we get it(same with Half-life 3).

I always thought of it to be a robot test. In single player you'd play as a robot who, half way through, goes corrupt. the robot realizes how bad glados is, and tries to escape.

Im perfectly fine with a prequel. I don't know many people who are into Portal because of the phenomenal gameplay. I know a lot of people like the simplicity and flow the games have, but most of the fans are in it because of the lore. We need the lore. It's like our crack lol
valve has a policy or something where all the developers get to choose what they want to work on. So if the they don't want to make a new portal they won't, or if they don't want to make a new tf2 update, they won't etc. the idea is that if you're forced to work on something you don't care about, it won't be as good.

We ARE gonna get a movie called "Portal still alive". This movie was supposed to be brought to theaters in 2022 but it didnt. And it could take a very long time before it will. Why? The movie was already confirmed in 2013. Damn. We have been waiting for this movie since FNAF came out.
I think the reason why is because GLaDOS just wants her gone and chell has her freedom which it makes no sense for her to return to that hell of a place considering they now have Atlas and P-Body that were invented as robotic test subjects.

No portal 3 BUT a spin off without chell or something can be absolutely incredible, like mods did with : Portal Reloaded, or Portal Revolution or even better Portal stories Mel

The story was pretty well wrapped up with the release of Chell and the cooperative testing initiative which essentially means there isn’t much more story to tell after that. Maybe a prequel or in between story but who would be the main character? Besides there is still a strong modding community that has already made (or about to release)“portal 3” with their own characters and voice acting. I saw a trailer for one of these mods that takes place between 1&2 not to long ago and it looked awesome! I thought it was an actual valve trailer! In short valve doesn’t need to make a new portal game as the modders and even players creating custom test chambers on the steam edition create more than enough content to keep the game alive.
