Sometimes we go through so much money trying to find cheap ones. Like buying a 40 dollar pair and then buying 2-3 more cause they stop working. Then you realize you’ve gone through the same amount if you just bought the real ones in the first place

Mark Harrold before i bought the original one i went to buy a second hand from a guy , i spotted it from that sharp click voice otherwise it was the same and when i entered the serial number on apple website it did not have warranty however it had a valid purchase date 😂

I ordered some from amazon for 139, some of the reviews were complaining about them coming already used, broken, or they were fake. I didn’t notice this until after ordering but there’s a ton of good reviews saying they’re legit as well & not to go based off the bad reviews. I’m getting them in a few days but for some reason I’m so nervous.

One of the best ways to tell is once you’ve paired them with your device, go to the Bluetooth menu under settings. You’ll see them listed. Now click the little blue “i” icon. Are you able to change the name of them and other settings? If so, they should be real. You can also try to check the serial number on the Apple website here. checkcoverage.apple.com

I’ve heard that some you can, some you can’t, so it seems that this is changing on the fakes.

Sounds like you may be alright. It’s getting harder and harder to tell with some of these fakes, but this video is kinda old now, so I’m sure they’ve changed.

Hey Aaron. So i just bought some airpods off ebay. $50 not too bad. Just got them and everything checks out, they are exactly like the real pair you’ve shown here, in every aspect. Did a step by step comparison following along with you. The box exactly the same as the real u have two stickers, electric symbol thing, everything. The airpods case thick and sturdy, no rattle, etc. The airpods, no extra seams, etc etc. but.. the only thing i see that doesnt check out, is the pamphlet that comes in the box. It looks more like the fake pairs pamphlet that you got. Also i had to press and hold the button on the back of my charging case to pair them. So those two things seem off. I think ive got a fake pair but i think these fake pairs are getting even better. Considering everything else checks out wonderfully. Thanks for the help, very informative.

I have a set and cannot tell the difference, and they open with connect and they pair right away also have the cardboard insert as the original. Still a great set!
I dont know if you still need this, but you could check your serial number on the box, and type it into apple serial number check
I found an Airpod inside the mall on the floor , someone accidentally drop it and didn't find it again. At first i thought this is a real one but when saw your video how to spot the real and fake this what i found is a fake one because its housing is very shaky but it still works very well . I'm satisfied with sound quality , all sensors works pretty well but durability is not that realiable compare with original . I accidentally drop the right earphone almost 5 feet and the sem opens up , fortunately it still works fine .

Also adding this here incase if helps someone.
1. Right off the bat the cable it came with felt "off" (like you know the apple feel).
2. There was no click when I connect the cable to the case to charge, it also didnt fix all the way in.
3. It did not show up on the iphone settings>general>About page
4. I could not reset the airpods.
5. When placing pods in case its always a green light, even tho the pods have less than 100% charge (the light changes to amber on my authentic 1st gen pods)
6. It would sometimes make other sounds when connecting other than the standard apple airpod "brrrng" when putting them in ear. (sounds a regular earphone would make).
7. There was also a popping sound if you wiggle them in your ear (not sure it thats normal for 2nd gen, but it doesnt do that on my 1st gen)
I did have a little doubt about it when i was testing it, but what really sold me was the fact that it had the airpods pop up menu when connecting and would show as airpods in the sound menu, and the sound quality was actually pretty good.

i’m not sure if my AirPods are fake or not
i compared the case to my dad’s case, and mine feels a bit more loose and light, only barely though, and the light isn’t nearly as bright as the one on his is. the back bluetooth button feels poorly placed, while my dad’s felt smooth. i also only get a couple or 3 hours of use before one of them die, and the other soon after. the thing he talked about last with the pairing, mine did what the fakes did at first.

You don’t need to be scared just match the serial numbers on the support coverage site, you might know it is genuine or not

I got these on purpose because they were cheaper but when I got them and opened the case the light didn't turn on. And the don't charge either. When I plug in the lightning cable into them, the light doesn't turn on either. I bought them from amazon. 😩🙁

I think I noticed that with mine as well. I believe it’s just cheap electronics, so there is a capacitor or something that squeals.

On the real AirPods you can change their name like Someone’s AirPods from the Bluetooth setting while the fake ones, you can’t

Well it had me up until the last part. If you try connecting real AirPods that aren’t yours the same message will still come up saying they aren’t yours if they’re already connected to A another persons phone or B Has be for in general

On the legit ones, the top of the inside is a tiny bit rough or textired, but where the AirPods sit inside to charge, that part is smooth.

I have the authentic first generation but there is no CSA logo on the outside of the box. There are two separate stickers, as mentioned in the video. Just FYI that maybe earlier versions did not have this?

You just have the original version, that has the light on the inside. Only the 2nd generation with wireless charging case has light on the outside.

Did you buy them new? Real ones will say that only if they were connected to another device before. Check the serial number on the Apple warranty check page.

It’s super tough. Basically anything that seems like a super good deal is probably fake. Current wireless charging (gen 2) AirPods, even refurbished are going to run around $160.
Amazon sales a lot of Apple products, had brought a few of them. They work great. My AirPods were actually from the Apple store.

About the energy verified sticker.. not every original airpods have it. I saw on some youtuber video unboxing, some of then dont have the sticker on the box. Does it make to be the fake?
That may be true, just a difference I noticed on the ones I had. I think it’s better to focus on the product differences themselves when trying to really determine.

Just don't order them online unless from a reputable online store that DOESN'T allow Third Party Sellers such as Amazon or Walmart but Online stores such as Apple, Best Buy or go to the store and buy them in person

No, I would think those are legit as long as they are sealed and new.
Only sometimes it pops up as not your AirPods but sometimes it also pops up as AirPods connect.
The only time it will do that is when pairing for the first time with fake ones. At least that is what mine did. Real AirPods will do this, but only after they have been paired with another person’s device. Brand new Apple AirPods should never do this. It should just welcome you to setup or connect them.

Sounds like those are the first generation ones if they don’t have a light on the front. Could be legit. Did you get them brand new? If they were preowned they can give that message.

Do fake ones still show the pop-up on the phone
If they are good fakes, yes. Fake ones will usually pop up initially as “not your AirPods” right out of the box. Keep in mind legit ones do this only after connected before, but new ones should not say that.

It’s actually settings>General>about> then you should see your AirPods name. Click on it then info should be there. I believe the lid has to be open on the AirPods but it will have serial number and version info there. Thanks

When they were new? New ones shouldn’t do that if they have never been connected. After she connects them to her phones, then she tries to connect them to your phone, it will say that. The key is that they shouldn’t say that the first time you connect out of the box.

That’s a great question and I am not sure. I don’t have the fake ones anymore. I wouldn’t recommend it. The fake case was making weird noises due to bad electronics. I wouldn’t risk it.

Yes, it’s possible, cause they can take a serial number off of real ones, but that means there will be many with the same serial on them. It’s a quick and easy check, but just may not be a reliable way to be sure.

Does the original charging case charge the fake AirPods?
That’s a great question. I’m not sure but the design is essentially the same so it should. I wouldn’t risk it because of bad electronics that may ruin the batteries in the legit AirPods.
