  • Episode 43 - After repairing the rust in the last video I prepped and painted the floor pan in this video. I used a Raptor Liner kit and tinted it to match the truck.

This looks so good with the new coated floor pans and the old body paint.

It's looking like new on the bottom, those before and after shots alone. Very tasteful and clean.

I would highly highly recommend hitting it with a clear coat (even if you do matt or semi-gloss). The clear will close off any micro pores that catch dirt and that make it raggedy looking in time...in addition is quite tough to clean and take care of with out the clear. The clear makes everything float on the toppest layers and can be wiped up without the towel snagging and leaving lint.
Outside the normal stuff like doing trunks, pans, engine bays I have a full blown custom Audi done in Raptor (full tear down/interior/exterior) with a stage 2 paint job over the top and a fully custom cafe racer in Raptor Ferrari Red 2 stage with chrome Raptor tank & pieces, both over 10 years so I'm pretty familiar with it outside the standard uses.

Not finishing the inside was a mistake IMO It's gonna continue to deteriorate. But what you did looks great...

One thing to remember about raptor is the iso's are deadly. Please wear a tyvex full suit, goggles, gloves, and an acid gas respirator.

Outstanding results!!!! This is the first video of yours that I've watched (as I've come here by going down a rabbit hole of Raptor Liner youtube videos) and I'm super impressed with the camera work and editing. Narration is interesting and relevant. Interesting content. Great quality workmanship. I have no interest in FJ40s, but how could I not subscribe and go back to see what else you've done. Top shelf work!

Fantastic progress on that floor and I love that you’re keeping as much original paint as possible. I did the same with the ‘49 CJ3a in my avatar pic. All original paint complete with dings, scrapes, worn areas. Going to enjoy it just like this as long as possible.

I wonder how durable it is. I sprayed something similar in a work van and the stuff was hard as steel. Years later I wanted to do it again but couldn’t find or remember the name. Looking for a replacement. It was a 2 part product that came with its own sprayer. You needed a respirator with mine, it was nasty. Xylene based I think. Dried very fast.

Looks really good. Did you ever consider the products that look like bedliner but also have sound and heat properties? Especially for the floor and firewall. I used those on my 1969 FJ55 and they work remarkably well.

@@Jerod_Helt The product I used was Lizard Skin. Two coats of each for sound and heat. I have heard some still like to spray on a true liner product on top of that.

@JNHClassics Those paint stripping disc's are a horribly inefficient way to remove paint. Cup wheels are much better. They make them with plastic abrasive wires in grits too. They do great and don't damage substrates, get into lows and hit high, etc.
