Even the most milquetoast invocation of men's issues rather than simply dismissing them as evil misogynists is still not just dismissed but literally laughed off in favor of an identitarian conspiracy theory. I'm simply done at this point. The Democratic establishment has lost me. I don't see myself ever voting Republican, but I can't imagine voting for any Democrat above the state level anymore given their ubiquitous, open disdain for me based on how I was born and either refusal to take issues that affect me seriously or active exacerbation of those issues. Get better or keep losing. Nothing more to say.

It’s weird to blame democrats for something that the voters choose. A political party may make it harder, but nothing is impossible. How did Trump win in 2016? And so if Democrats had a more popular candidate to run in 2020 or 2024, why can Republicans elect their popular candidate and democrats can’t? The argument is just a contrarian position to the Democratic Party and once again creating more negative narratives about the Democratic Party that people want to valid why they don’t want to brand with Democrats. Branding is about alliances and the average of the messengers sentiment. Most messengers on the Democrats side are 50% or less in favorable branding for D’s because they want to be THE MOST critical and sound the MOST INFORMED. It’s a race to the bottom, while the MVP sits at the top. No one really cares who is the most critical or accurate, they care about the collective sentiment because politics is complicated and most people will follow the vibes of the collective. Jon Stewart and others, you give more negative sentiment about Democrats and race is to the bottom. This is why random people ignore facts because the vibes are out there and they aren’t consuming facts and doing research to change the sentiment. No one has time for that. Jokes at the expense of people’s livelihoods and jokes at the expense of people’s despair is very discontinued to your overall complex point at making a joke because people think politics is a game…well, game over

I don't feel like I came away from this discussion any more intelligent on the topic. By all accounts, the credentials of Mr. Reeves implies that there should have been an interesting discussion of the challenges that an otherwise decent and unoffensive young guy faces in modern society. But I don't feel like we got any of that, and it did genuinely feel like a towing of the "but yeah, the women have it worse" line.

Progressive men are left in a weird spot. Trump is a goon, but Harris’ campaign made no mention of pushing for men’s wellbeing and trying to win their vote in that regard. Dems are losing the game that Trump is winning, appealing to lost, isolated, desperate men. Progressives have no such figure and it’s hurting them. Lots of men love women and want equality in every regard, but it seems like the Dems forget that men still want support and aren’t getting it from anyone other than right wing grifters.

Nobody gives a fuck about "Locker Room talk". Well, OK, some people do, but they're out and proud misogynists and were already voting for Trump. You want to know why young men are voting more Republican? Ask them how much of their paycheck goes into rent! Ask them how groceries cost twice as much as they did 5 years ago! Then when you ask them to vote for you, tell them to wait in fucking line while we get Women, and Blacks, and Immigrants, and Trans people up to code. Saying they have it better than those other groups might be factual, but if you don't acknowledge their suffering and if you don't publicly and forcefully do something for them you leave an opening for someone like Donald Trump to exploit. And as long as Democrats keep on going like this show and asking women why men are turning away from them, then pivoting to why they shouldn't be complaining, that trend is only going to get worse.

From my perspective For a decade (growing up with phones and social media) we are told that men are so privileged, that they thus don't deserve any help, that all help should go to women in the name of equality, but as far as they can see women are doing as well if not better. And if this is pointed out, they are shouted down as sexists distracting from those who actually deserve help. Can you then blame young men when they feel abandoned and that no one cares for their problems? So it seems like they’ve have been told that men have all these advantages and don’t need any help, when in reality these advantages are for older men, not younger ones Boomer men makes more than boomer women. But gen z is seeing a historic reverse gender gap where women are more stable and successful, especially in higher education. I’ve seen it too at uni, there are more women and more programs to get women into college and coddling to help them stay. There is a growing chasm between men and women in college completion. The loneliness epidemic is likely the cause of the big shift towards conservatism. Gen Z men are gonna be a tough nut to crack for progressives, it’s hard to undo an entire childhood and young adulthood of negative vibes. For a party that preaches inclusivity and acceptance, they really do not include or accept young straight men, which is by far the largest voting demographic and most active. Just one sentence at the end of a speech addressing them could have made a difference. I truly believe that. Just a little something for young men to let them know "Boys, we hear you. We understand that there's a lot going on in our lives and we need some help. We will make sure you get the support and help you need. I've needed help before to get through some tough shit, and I'm going to make sure you get the support you need to get through some tough shit together. You are worth it." If Walz had said something similar to that, guaranteed more young men would've voted for them... Walz is the perfect guy to do that, he's a coach! The Dems had an ace in the hole but didn't use it.

If you guys could hear how your retoric sounds to people in the middle, or in the right, or even just an average white dude, you would understand why there was a shift against the left. If you're white, religious, or a man, you're casually spoken about on these programs as exremeists. Its tiring to hear when im just trying to pay my bills and start a family. Being called racist, fascist, misogynist for voting for policies that the left isn't prioritizing but I feel are important to me really makes me run away from the left as a whole.

Democrats became toxic. They act like they want to punch anyone who disagrees with them, and how is that appealing to people? Dems claim that’s how Trump won; but if that was true, they should’ve won because they ran a much more “attack the enemy Of Democracy Trumptler! And anyone who disagrees with us is literally a nazi!” than Trump ran on calling Democrats (all democrats) commies. Also, liberal media screwed dems by focusing way too much on trans issues for 4 years - it’s a minute population, yet they blew it up, generating huge backlash from regular people. Seriously, .02-.04% of births are intersex, why did it take up so much damn airtime, why are minors being chemically castrated?

I'm sorry, but why is it always liberals fault that right wingers fearmonger, lie and cuddle young white men into believing their message? Maybe there should be some accountability for the far-right. The right gives young white men no solution, just that men are not at fault for their loneliness and mental health problems, that they don't need to change, which is the easy solution. Progressivism (and I'm not talking about democrats, but actual progressive values) needs a deconstruction of mens role in declining mental health and social issues, which at the end of the day has no easy solution. Conservatives convince them that no matter if everyone else was doing worse, they need to go back to past values cause men (specially white men) were doing better before progressive values were implemented. When women started going to college and doing better than men (cause they needed to prove themselves they were worth it by working twice as hard), white men started devaluing college degrees instead of encouraging men to do better. Yes, the left needs a better message, but that doesn't matter when the right wingers just cuddle this men and tell them, you are perfect and don't need change, be a good and a more likeable person. Yes, there should be more progressive role models for this young men, but why is always the left that is in the wrong when you have people like Jesse Watters saying on his show that a man wishing Happy Birthday to another man is gay. They are the ones telling men to not connect and create community.

But there is one thing they did, which is warn about the threat to democracy that Trump and today’s GOP is!! So, you weren’t seen, or heard, but then I’m going to vote for and essentially give another chance to he who already has shown he doesn’t care about democracy, only to get elected. But once he’s elected then he will use this “mandate” to do what’s good first HIS people, not the people who voted first him. This is literally how dictatorships are born! Democratic politicians and their campaign teams don't seem to know how to talk to working class voters, perhaps more so with working class men, and I think it's because most of the political pros and their talking heads in the media haven't had much contact with people who either didn't go to college or went to junior college for trades or service industry training. The Democratic political pros and their campaign operatives may well come up with legislation and programs that will help us, but it's clear that they speak a different language than we do and it's also clear that aside from Jon and a very few of his colleagues in the media that the Democratic political operatives rarely wander into our part of town unless they're knocking on doors in the lead-up to election day. Maybe the pros should join our bowling leagues or hang out in the diners and bars we go to on a regular basis so they can listen to what we're talking about--and not just what our political views may be, but also how we feel about our jobs, what our friends and family up to, how we feel about everything from gun control, the cost of living, our current & future economic prospects, how our favourite football/hockey/basketball/baseball teams are doing....and also HOW we talk bout all that stuff. Linguistics matter. Just ask Noam Chomsky
