super HYPED for the in depth camera review of the 9 Pro, especially if you compare it against the 8 Pro... I don't see much of a difference on paper regarding the technical specifications of the periscope 5x telephoto on both, they're both f/2.8 and both are a full frame 112mm equivalent... I think this year the Pixel 9 series is the surprise of the year. I would like to see mainly the battery life and the quality of the photos when they are uploaded to instagram.
Apps on android using the camera will usually take kind of a screenshot of the camera interface instead of natively having access to the camera. Google making both the phone and the OS means they can properly integrate it like iPhones do and use all their fancy post processing.

7:24 You still did not enable HDR alongside video boost. If you use video boost without HDR enabled, you receive an SDR video back from Google's server. If you enable HDR, you receive an HDR video back. Please make sure you turn on HDR before you do a video comparison with the Pixel 9 Pro using video boost!

Can you look into the social media performance a little more in depth please. Which apps does the 9 improve and which not so much. Also, if it's better to upload to instagram stories directly from the camera gallery or use the native camera app to upload something. I think Android 15 is supposed to also make it easier for apps to used higher quality pictures for posting.

Google is hardly thinking about cameras anymore. So much AI enhancements and manipulation is happening do you really a powerful camera? I'm concerned about the direction Google is heading in with this stuff. Something in the coding needs to make people aware that these images aren't authentic.
Are you saying that pixel 8 pro camera doesn't capture as many details when used from within IG/FB only? Not sure what point you're trying to make and why camera results are compared from within some social (cr)app UI and not direct Google camera UI
6:31 this is the biggest news. Camera v2 API being complicated and not used properly by a lot of apps, including most of the social media, is a major pain in the ass and a reason why people think Android phones take bad pictures and video. Hopefully this is wind of change and will trickle down to older models and more apps 🤞

All are very well implemented and nothing feels like a gimick, just can't wait for Android 15 to shine these new phones even more, let alone the under the hood improvements, I do noticed the status bar icons are aligned with the camera punch hole now, did it change after the play system update? I also hope the status bar panel shifts down a bit to make the gap between the front camera to the top of the screen to the bottom of it
I got my pixel 9 Pro. It still has horrible overheating issues and network coverage on 5g is still a problem. Returning my pixel back. I will wait for next year when tensor chip is developed by tsmc and network modem is Qualcomm. What to do with when doing basic things is a struggle.
The fact that many of these features need internet cause they’re cloud based is a shame. Also you should make a video of the performance of the camera in social media apps against the iPhone and the s24 ultra
@@levipb1403 you don't know why ok cloud is better, it updateable, it doesnt slowing ur device, and it save ur device space, while it does need subscription, thats far better than ai on device that slowing ur device over time and will prolly never get update. Even apple use cloud based ai, not mostly on device :)
While these features are great, one thing I'd appreciate is to run some of this stuff in real time which would give us a good impression of speed, unless you're doing an entirely separate video of course. Tried this on a demo unit in the shop and the phone was agonizingly slow. All that is keeping the Pixel from reaching great heights...is a cpu.

Excellent review of features as always! Maybe is just me, but i prefer pixel 8 and older design over pixel 9. Google phones have accustomed us to their own aesthetics and personality and I don't like that this time they copied the body of the iPhones which I dislike.
What about the quality of high-res image (I'm talking full frame camera) upload to Instagram? Photos posted from my Pixel 6 pro look so much worse than other people's lower quality photos. Even uploading the same photo from my Pixel vs my MacBook it's a day and night difference.

The AI didn't work on the moon because it can't figure out what it is it's trying to enhance. It doesn't know what to compare to in it's dataset.

How do I force zoom enhance onto my 8 Pro? I have the latest app update on Photos but it fails to show up on any of the photos I edit.
I was wondering the same thing and found it! Go to settings, system updates, and update your apps. That got it for me on my Pixel 8 Pro. Good Luck!
