Of course, it's just as stupid as it sound since you just turn the key around, using another two brain cells and you would figure it out. However, the ques to the local Ikea store was huge with customers that wanted to exchange the "wrong bent Allen key". And when they actually figured out it was a April fools joke, they happily still went into the shop to purchase something "since they already was there"...

We don't have inheritance tax today in Sweden. People are actually allowed to keep the money they have worked for (and already payed tax for) in the family. Isn't it unfair! They should have wasted it during their lives instead, like the rest of us. Who needs frugality?

I used to work with global shipping at IKEA, especially with establishing new Ikea stores. There are Ikea stores in Africa, like Marocco, Egypt. In the southern hemisphere there are Ikea in Australia, new Zealand, Chile, Malaysia and Indonesia and I've probably missed some country. There everywhere😊. Many of these Ikea stores have a franchise owner and not owned by inter Ikea group. As they said in the video, the ownership of Ikea is complicated, so I can't be very specific about how it works and it was a few years ago I worked there, therefore I don't remember everything.
Inheritance tax is insane. In Finland currently if you inherit let’s say a house you have to pay tax on its alleged market value even if you cannot sell it to anyone 😳 You can end up in a situation where you cannot afford the tax and the government takes all.

Sweden also have a high VAT and employment fees that you don't really get around as a corporation. The main idea of Sweden when it comes to equality is to equalize income not wealth. This means that any job, even a part time job at McDonald's pays enough to live on.
I don't think it's just a matter of psychology though, I mean usually when I go to IKEA I don't have a shopping list. When I go I basically go with the thought "There's this one item I want and whatever else I pick up is optional." so 1 planned item and probably another 3-4 unplanned depending. Sometimes I don't buy anything at all, sometimes I just buy what I came to buy, sometimes I just buy a whole bunch of items because they're useful and I need them like storage boxes.
4:00 IKEA is not always THAT far from the town/city center though. In smaller towns, it tends to be fairly near, and also close to other "shopping hangars". You can often walk, or at least bike there, from the historical center.

Ikea moving production to countries like Poland and moving the company to other countries in different strange setups where from the start because the Swedish government was against IKEA as a concept. I am for high taxes, but the inheritance tax worked very poorly, many ordinary people ended up in trouble when the tax had to be paid, many were forced to sell their childhood homes, summer cottages and so on, to be able to afford to pay the tax, at the same time the rich could exploit the system and get away without having to pay anything at all, so I am glad that we abolished that particular tax.
IF there are to be high taxes, it should be applied only on newly generated wealth. To tax already taxed wealth is simply immoral. If I earn a normal income and choose to save it for my children, I or my children should not be punished by people who waste their money. We should encourage people to save money, not punish them.

inheritance tax no longer exsist in Sweden. They removed it 2004. We have high taxes on most things but also some taxes do not exsist and others are low compared to other countries. (inheritance tax, Gift tax, sales tax on used cars, Tax on lotto wins are a couple of them)

But with the huge private debt in Sweden, it's easy for people to blame those who have carefully saved their money instead of going on holiday every year and living beyond their means. Economically irresponsible people always want everybody else to be equally poor.
IKEA is still expanding. As of now Africa has IKEA stores in Egypt. There are stores in South America. And many more under construction. New Zealand has stores under construction. However, for abvious reasons, IKEA stores in Russia has all closed down.

Funny enough, since 2005 there is no inheritance tax in Sweden, so Ingvar kind of made all that work without needing it. However, that kind of tax may reappear at any time.

In Norway, we have gotten rid of inheritance tax. You could inherit a hundred billion and there's no taxes on it. In fact, you can even inherit deferred taxes so you pretty much don't have to pay any taxes while you're alive and your successor can inherit it all so they don't have to pay any taxes either. I'm strongly against this. I would rather have a well-functioning capitalist system where people have to make their own way in life. I think it's perfectly ok that you don't have to pay any taxes while you're alive and creating wealth, but in return, a massive part of that should be paid in inheritance tax. Anything else very quickly leads to a class-based society.

There’s a difference between income tax, corporate tax and capital gains tax . IKEA is set up to pay low corporate taxes on their profit but the owners pay the appropriate amount of tax on their income and capital gains tax on the profit from the shares they own or sell. In reality capital gains tax is a set percentage regardless of the amount which makes it more beneficial than regular income at higher incomes
No country is perfect. All "Groups" (Labels) contain bad elements. Yes. There was a Swedish Nazi party, and many parties based on the same ideology (sometimes started by actual Swedish Nazis).. and unfortunately one of those political parties (SD) is today among the biggest parties in Sweden. NOT that the people who vote for them think they are voting for a Nazi party, but technically they really are. "Wanting to change the image", and "washing away the stamp".. Technically that is LITERALLY what they did. They tried to change people's perception NOT their actual politics. Their actual plans for Sweden are EXACTLY the same, they just use other ~arguments~ as to WHY we should stop taking in immigrants, and send the ones we have in here away.. and preferably look at the ones we have as if they automatically should be assumed to be criminals until proven innocent.. So instead of being about the hate it's.. about.. "It's true they are awful", and "We can use that money ourselves".. and of course the idea that "we" (sure, probably, but who are you thinking of as "we"?) will "have more money".. Also when it comes to the humanitarian side THEIR philosophy (well.. "Talking point").. is that it would be better to "help them THERE".. I mean.. I find that party to be a complete and utter stain on Sweden, and the worst thing is that they claim that what they are doing is to "defend" Swedish culture.. while they are BOTH ignorant to know things like our St. Lucy's processions aren't Swedish, they are a recent thing that comes from Italy, they are celebrating halloween which isn't Swedish, they misappropriate the asgard faith with images they get from hollywood movies, they claim that immigrants "don't even want to learn the language" (yes, the first thing I'll do when I move to a different nation is to be completely unable to read labels when I go to the store, and not even be capable to ask for help because I understand no one and no one understands me.. The Swedish Nazi party evolved over time to what today is the social democrats of course they would deny it. Then in the 80s a party called the Swedish democrats was formed and they also started as embracing a lot of Nazism they have today also cleaned up there act but are still accused of being Nazis by there opponents. Then you have the Nordic resistance movement that to this day embraces Nazism and are seen by some as a form of terrorism and have been banned to exists in a lot of the other Nordic countries but Sweden's constitution protects anyone to be able to have a union based on any idea so they can still be around. The "Social democrats" was founded in 1889 under the name "Swedish Social Democratic Workers' Party" and they were not Nazis because the Nazi movement started from the "German workers party" founded in 1919. I’ve been to the original IKEA store many times, but in 2016 it was transformed into an IKEA museum and a new store was built close to the old one.

Sometimes I don't buy anything at all, sometimes I just buy what I came to buy, sometimes I just buy a whole bunch of items because they're useful and I need them like storage boxes.

In smaller towns, it tends to be fairly near, and also close to other "shopping hangars".
You can often walk, or at least bike there, from the historical center.
It's pretty common I think in Sweden for shopping hubs to form around IKEA where large stores huddle together.
@@znail4675 Kind of the opposite in my town (Uppsala). IKEA was first located in the city center, then in the 80s, it moved out to one of these early 1970s "shopping hubs" just outside town.
IKEAs expansion was quite rapid from the start. He started his company in Älmhult in 1958 and then 1963 in Denmark and Norway in 1969. In the 70s they opened up in Australia, Austria, Canada, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Kuwait, Netherlands, Singapore and Switzerland. And of course eventually they opened up in the USA as well in 1985.
Found this information on their own website and didn't know about this before. It's mind boggling to think that it in a little more than 2 decades went worldwide.
Ikea moving production to countries like Poland and moving the company to other countries in different strange setups where from the start because the Swedish government was against IKEA as a concept. The Government wanted to protect the "real" furniture manufacturers in the country that made complete furniture.
In the end it actually turned out good for both Sweden and IKEA

I am for high taxes, but the inheritance tax worked very poorly, many ordinary people ended up in trouble when the tax had to be paid, many were forced to sell their childhood homes, summer cottages and so on, to be able to afford to pay the tax, at the same time the rich could exploit the system and get away without having to pay anything at all, so I am glad that we abolished that particular tax.
IF there are to be high taxes, it should be applied only on newly generated wealth. To tax already taxed wealth is simply immoral. If I earn a normal income and choose to save it for my children, I or my children should not be punished by people who waste their money. We should encourage people to save money, not punish them.

Actually IKEA in my town is right in the heart of the city. To be honest they bought a whole industrial area to build an entire shopping center with many stores involved. IKEA in the Philippines is also very central of Manila.

inheritance tax no longer exsist in Sweden. They removed it 2004. We have high taxes on most things but also some taxes do not exsist and others are low compared to other countries. (inheritance tax, Gift tax, sales tax on used cars, Tax on lotto wins are a couple of them)

@@KristoferOlsson I hope you get my meaning. It is of course not horrible that people get to keep money they already have payed tax for. Otherwise, what is the point of saving? But with the huge private debt in Sweden, it's easy for people to blame those who have carefully saved their money instead of going on holiday every year and living beyond their means. Economically irresponsible people always want everybody else to be equally poor.

IKEA is still expanding. As of now Africa has IKEA stores in Egypt. There are stores in South America. And many more under construction. New Zealand has stores under construction. However, for abvious reasons, IKEA stores in Russia has all closed down.

I've always hated IKEA just because you had to walk through the entire store and it felt like it took forever...turned out that the store that we went to also happened to be the largest one in the world, so no wonder...when going to one in another city it seemed like nothing in comparison...

I do not think the Kamprads directly profit from the charity foundation. You see IKEA is really run as two foundation, one the charity owns the IKEA another foundation that is for to the family not charity own the Brand IKEA and the IKANO-bank (the second is what keep the family fortune).
In Norway, we have gotten rid of inheritance tax. You could inherit a hundred billion and there's no taxes on it. In fact, you can even inherit deferred taxes so you pretty much don't have to pay any taxes while you're alive and your successor can inherit it all so they don't have to pay any taxes either. I'm strongly against this. I would rather have a well-functioning capitalist system where people have to make their own way in life. I think it's perfectly ok that you don't have to pay any taxes while you're alive and creating wealth, but in return, a massive part of that should be paid in inheritance tax. Anything else very quickly leads to a class-based society.
We have a lot of political parties in Sweden, but many of them are very small and few have heard of them. I thought it was the same in most countries, I mean, even the US has at least one communist party…

There’s a difference between income tax, corporate tax and capital gains tax .
IKEA is set up to pay low corporate taxes on their profit but the owners pay the appropriate amount of tax on their income and capital gains tax on the profit from the shares they own or sell.
In reality capital gains tax is a set percentage regardless of the amount which makes it more beneficial than regular income at higher incomes

No country is perfect. All "Groups" (Labels) contain bad elements. Yes. There was a Swedish Nazi party, and many parties based on the same ideology (sometimes started by actual Swedish Nazis).. and unfortunately one of those political parties (SD) is today among the biggest parties in Sweden. NOT that the people who vote for them think they are voting for a Nazi party, but technically they really are.
There was a period in the noughties when this party went from being an openly nazi-ideology-based party to.. Well.. if we use THEIR phrasing.. "Wanting to change the image", and "washing away the stamp".. Technically that is LITERALLY what they did. They tried to change people's perception NOT their actual politics. Their actual plans for Sweden are EXACTLY the same, they just use other ~arguments~ as to WHY we should stop taking in immigrants, and send the ones we have in here away.. and preferably look at the ones we have as if they automatically should be assumed to be criminals until proven innocent.. So instead of being about the hate it's.. about.. "It's true they are awful", and "We can use that money ourselves".. and of course the idea that "we" (sure, probably, but who are you thinking of as "we"?) will "have more money".. Also when it comes to the humanitarian side THEIR philosophy (well.. "Talking point").. is that it would be better to "help them THERE".. I mean.. AGAIN we don't OWE them anything so that is ONLY used when talking about why refusing refugees, IF discussing actually TRYING to help people "in their own nations" then WHY should WE be using OUR money to do something that may be good for them THERE!???.. When they are there we have NO responsibility.. so.. if you understand that chain of reasoning you realize that they ARE still as much of a nazi party as they ever were.

While there actually existing video footage(!) of him in a car literally at a meeting for that party where there were people dressed in nazi uniforms doing nazi salutes.. but.. sure.. "He never saw anything like that in the party before he joined".. Not to mention the fact that there was a Museum that had a display on all Swedish political parties and their history.. with photos.. and the museum was getting harassed, threats, etc until they took the display on SD down.
I find that party to be a complete and utter stain on Sweden, and the worst thing is that they claim that what they are doing is to "defend" Swedish culture.. while they are BOTH ignorant to know things like our St. Lucy's processions aren't Swedish, they are a recent thing that comes from Italy, they are celebrating halloween which isn't Swedish, they misappropriate the asgard faith with images they get from hollywood movies, they claim that immigrants "don't even want to learn the language" (yes, the first thing I'll do when I move to a different nation is to be completely unable to read labels when I go to the store, and not even be capable to ask for help because I understand no one and no one understands me.. That will of course be the foremost goal on everyone's mind to make sure to stay in that place where you are dependent on others but can't even do anything).. WHILE these people ARE the ones who don't know when to use "e" or "ä" in a word.. DESPITE having a 10 year Swedish education on the topic.. Even the Wikings were tolerant to other people and never judged people for anything except their own personal actions. Intentional deceit was an offence that could cost you your life and when it comes to the active people in the party they are slippery like eels.. They confuse the safety they felt as a child and what they feel comfortable with as actual indicators of what is or isn't safe, therefore.. Whatever they learned as a kid is.. "Swedish culture".. despite it more being local to their own families and group of friends.
The only "good" thing about this is that at least then never got even a full quarter of Swedish votes.. Unlike the US where their fascist president got more than half the votes alone.. Not that it helps much because the other right wing party is willing to negotiate in order to have power, so they don't care about bad financial politics or implementing rules relating to immigration that only make sense if you start off with a racist standpoint... So.. What can I say.. Unlike the US there are MORE people who still have common sense over here.. and.. despite that not preventing these types of people FROM having power, they are at least STRONGLY limited IN their power due to the fact that we don't have a "king".. We have moderating forces, and laws and enough bright people to prevent how much harm they can do.. Still SOME harm if comparing to "ideal", but.

The Swedish Nazi party evolved over time to what today is the social democrats of course they would deny it. Then in the 80s a party called the Swedish democrats was formed and they also started as embracing a lot of Nazism they have today also cleaned up there act but are still accused of being Nazis by there opponents. Then you have the Nordic resistance movement that to this day embraces Nazism and are seen by some as a form of terrorism and have been banned to exists in a lot of the other Nordic countries but Sweden's constitution protects anyone to be able to have a union based on any idea so they can still be around.
Side note IKEA doesn't operate in Russia anymore after they started there war whit Ukraine IKEA pulled out.

The "Social democrats" was founded in 1889 under the name "Swedish Social Democratic Workers' Party" and they were not Nazis because the Nazi movement started from the "German workers party" founded in 1919. In 1920 they changed their name to "National Socialist German Workers' Party" and that's were the Nazis started.
The only current parties/organizations that originating from nazis in Sweden are the "Swedish democrats" and NRM.
The Yatzy thing is a thing in the south of Sweden. Not our proudest part of the country.
