Oh my god. I have FINALLY found a booktuber that has almost my exact taste. I’ve been binging your videos. We both love everything from Piranesi to Convenience store woman to The Broken Earth Trilogy….gah! I cannot wait to get reading all of your recs
"OUT" is one of my favourite books of all time. I found the translation to be pretty flawless, I'd never have guessed it wasn't written originally in English. Blew me away. I was wondering when you'd mention it as you focus a lot on Japanese translated works. Great list. Love Glass Hotel too.
Currently reading Death of a Bookseller after you recommended it 😁 I'm also on a thriller mood lately and you've definitely picked my interest with A Certain Hunger!!
I put off reading Station Eleven with it on my to read pile for years and then couldn’t help but watch the HBO series (which was so beautiful and was getting incredible reviews). Must not put off reading her other books!
One of my favorite go to thriller recommendations is The Good Son by You-Jeong Jeong. It's translated from Korean, very dark, and very violent. I couldn't put it down.
I forgot to mention that besides horror, Tripping Arcadia is also a gothic thriller novel. I'm so sorry if you're sick of me mentioning that book. Also I haven't read it yet, but Dani by Angelique Jordonna sounds intriguing. Plus the cover is aesthetically appealing to me. 😅
Willow: "You won't find anything with the word "girl" in the title Also Willow: *includes Grady Hendrix's book* Lol love the list! I have 2 from this list because of your previous videos, can't wait to bring in more!
lmao at "thrillers that don't have 'girl' in their title" 😭😭😭 well this might come too close but i really loved sharp objects by gillian flynn, her best novel in my opinion! the miniseries adaptation is fantastic as well, but maybe you have already read it/seen it 😅
Oh gods, I don't know if you've read Penpal by Dathan Auerbach, but it's the most frightening book I've ever read in my entire life, and I'm not happy about it. Also it's brilliant. I couldn't read it while it was dark coz I was genuinely that scared.
I have an autistic son and legit thought The Maid had garbage representation… and the WORST ending 😂 you know when you come up with all the potential endings and realise your guesses were better than the reality? Bahaha. Loved Death of a Bookseller though. Read it based on your recommendation and it didn’t disappoint. I much preferred The Silent Patient to The Maidens, but I get that the dark academia vibe of The Maidens would be more appealing to people.
Really appreciate your recommendations and discussions (so great to find someone on TH-cam who goes literary *haha*): as far as a thriller I'd bring up it'd be The Listeners by Jordan Tannahill.
Great list and video! A thriller that I would HIGHLY recommend is Signs Preceding the End of the World by Yuri Herrera and translated into English by Lisa Dillman. After I read it, I immediately read everything else by Herrera that was available in English.
I loved The Villa by Rachel Hawkins! It’s equal parts gothic and thriller, which is what made me adore it. The nods to the creation of Frankenstein are there down to the writer character being named Mary, and I would love to read the book within the book feminist horror novel the new Mary creates, called Lilith Rising.
I've read good reviews about Sun Damage by Sabine Durrant. I haven't read it yet, but this sounds enticing, "Reminiscent of the works of Patricia Highsmith and Lucy Foley, a compulsive psychological thriller..." I'm also eyeing How Can I Help You by Laura Sims and None of This is True by Lisa Jewell.
You need to read 'Confessions'by kanae Minato it's an amazing thriller. Please read this book and make a review about it if you already read it.I want to know your opinions about this book .
cabin: meh. it felt a bit dull when there wasn't some new interesting twisty bits to it. and then felt like he decided to make it a gay couple just for rep points. *shrug* me and hubby just were let down by the lack of something interesting outside of Leonards personality. I need to give him another chance, cause tons of people I trust seem to love him! any idea on which of his other books I should try...?

I've been here since the Piranesi video, and she has worked her way up to being in my top 5 fav booktubers!! 🥰
Here we go again, haven't even watched the video but as always here predicting my TBR is gonna be scrambled again!
😇

So many books added to the TBR 😲

Wow I’m so happy you talked about the glass hotel. I feel like I’m hearing about a new book. I’ve never heard it described this way before
Related to thrillers, I was so surprised and proud to have seen your name for the 1st page reviews in Death on Gokumon Island! Loved it
Oh that’s so great to hear! Thanks for telling me!
Yet another fantastic video - many thanks 😊
Okay, now I want to ready all the books you recommended. Love your recs!

I loved Station Eleven, but I had no idea that Emily St. John Mandel had written a thriller! Psyched to check it out.
Just read Death of a Bookseller after seeing your video on it, it's really good!
I just finished Grotesque by Kirino and I can’t wait get to Out soon. Great list!
I love love love Tripping Arcadia!
"We also get to see the world through the cat's eyes". That's it. I'm getting that one.
I met and chatted with Cat Ward a few days ago and she’s amazing :)

I know I'm repeating myself I really liked Trambley's book, the film not so much. I'm only sorry for the cast.

5th, Let’s goooo!
I enjoyed The Maid. But, I thought Molly came off as OCD.
