Yay... I have been up nearly 72 hours to get this video done and now there is an audio issue. 😫😫😫 Excellent! I wasn't planning on sleeping or anything! We are attempting to figure out this problem and will hopefully be able to fix it for re upload later. Sorry for the technical difficulties.
Was just about to write a comment about the audio, nice that it's getting fixed! It was really odd sounding, as if you're trapped inside of a small box. Really looking forward to the episode!
Ngl the Permian extinction is so awe inspiring, it kept me coming back for all this time. Also I can watch TimTim go flying, 5 times in a row. 😂 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA BOOM
Did you hear the research that in 250 million years, when all the continents come together again, it will be too hot to support most life on land it's basically the end of tetrapods. Time for the landsharks Maybe
I doubt it will be the permanent end of tetrapods, @@jdw1483; remember that the coast zones will nearly always get enough rain for animals to survive. The real question will be WHAT KIND of tetrapods will still be around in 250 million years' time...
I adore this series and I genuinely think it’s largely because the care and effort you put in shines through. A little bit of perfectionism can be good, so long as it isn’t making you miserable. Art that means something will always be at least a bit of a struggle. Fighting a project isn’t a sign of failure or weakness, it’s usually a sign of growth. Thank you for making and sharing your work, it’s really inspiring. The Complete History is the first time I’ve really been able to learn this topic in a way that sticks. You have the ability to make all the content information dense but also engaging, which is rare. You’re an amazing teacher. Your videos have also had a personal effect for me…this is the first time that the previous mass extinctions have been put into a perspective I can comprehend.. and honestly it’s been a HUGE part of my learning to make peace with the current state of the world. So I’m deeply grateful for that. Sorry to be so verbose and maybe over the top, I just needed you to know that what you do and the care you put into it is a true gift to the world. Take care of yourself, take your time, keep it up. We’ll be here :)
Early Triassic is probably my favourite period, with all the weird and wonderful creations evolution came up with after life pressed the restart button at the end of Permian.
I'm glad he said what was going on because I've been really waiting for this episode! I really enjoy this series. but you're right he should take his time
Oh please please please continue this series. I've watched them all up to this point, and it's clear how much time, work, and care you've put into them. Each one has been fascinating and entertaining. I really hope you continue them, I've never learned so much about the incredible odyssey that is our planet's geologic, climatic, and evolutionary history.
While this is the late Triassic, I would just like to point out that if you stepped into the waters of the Chinle Formation, you would encounter 11 different species of Phytosaur with some of them like Redondasaurus becoming more terrestrial and being about as big as a Postosuchus, any of the three absolutely massive Smilosuchus species which are the first, second, and fourth largest phytosaurs to ever live dwarfing even the saltwater crocodile. Not to mention any of the other phytosaur species. On top of this you could also run into the 3 meter long amphibian Anaschisma. And finally on top of all of that there’s the otter sized Vancleavea. Needless to say how all of these species were able to coexist for some 20 million years astonishes me.
I don't think you mentionned it, but i think it's in the Early triassic that the first bipeds appeared. And yes this gets more important in the middle/late triassic just like the Archosaurs, but since this is the first time our walking motion started on this earth, and how it changed literally everything about how predators worked in the years to come, i felt like it was important! Glad to see you back on the evolution path! Hopefully TimTim won't get eaten on the way there
The first biped-Eudibamus cursoris lived in the early Permian of Germany around 290 MYA.but that bodyplan doesn't seem to have become succesful in that period.
The explanation of how diapsids managed became so dominant after the end Persian extinction was so fascinating! It answered a lot of questions I've always had and was such a good look into ecosystem dynamics
The Triassic is the definition of underrated era. Some of the forms of life from the Triassic are so amazingly unique and aren't like anything from any other era.
This series is exemplary of some of the best science communication that is physically possible on this platform. Never sacrificing content for humor or for sound bites, while simultaneously remaining fun and digestible. I think it takes a very specific personality and a well-honed set of skills to be able to relay the amount of information this series does without it turning into a slog of an info dump, and you do it flawlessly and expertly. For someone who doesn’t have a degree in life sciences but is slightly more knowledgeable that an average person, this show strikes the absolute perfect balance - I’m learning lots of things at a depth and breadth that mainstream documentaries don’t cover, but I don’t feel like I needed four courses of prerequisites to understand what’s going on. Just truly excellent. I very rarely contribute in online spaces, but this series made me subscribe to your patreon. You’re a goddamn inspiration sir.
10:58 I would like to add on to your beautiful Futurama reference! Bender would most likely prefer keeping turtles over lizards. He has a soft spot for turtles because they remind him of his tough outer shell, rich inner life, and that he’s struggles to get up when he’s on his back like a turtle. Yes, I am an absolute nerd for the show and for Bender himself, why do you ask?
The video turned out perfectly. The early Triassic really is an underrated period of the history of life, so I'm glad whenever someone brings it up, with all it's weirdness
I adore this series. The quality is top-notch Edit: also the last minute or so of the video, with the music and the rain and the panicking Timtim..... That was an incredible vibe and I loved it
A new Paleo Analysis! WHOOT! I admit to having a crisis of faith. But month after month, for at least it feels, 9 eons, I waited and checked. My faith has been rewarded!
I’d be happy to wait a year if that’s what it took to get the next episode of this series together. Great stuff as always folks, thank you! Take care and keep learning!
Glad to see you back describing the complete history of the Earth--was afraid you'd been caught in the Great Dying! A minor nit to pick: at 21:52, there's an extra syllable in Scleromochlus.

Early Triassic is one of my favorite eras, because life got to reinvent all the funny and weird things again before going back to the good-and-tried shapes.
As an amateur artist, I can say that there's a fine line between perfectionist re-work and making quality work. It's really hard to identify when you're doing one or the other and maybe there isn't any good way to know. I can say that I love your videos and this one turned out exceptionally well, like all of your others. Keep doing what feels right and best for you and what you're creating, and it can't possible go wrong. Just make sure you're taking care of yourself in the mean time, too.
Mate you've done a very good job at producing a very educational and engaging product. You should be very proud of yourself and take as long as you need, as you said don't produce something that feels rushed or you're not 100% happy with. Keep doing what you're doing
One of the other features of a supercontinent is that ocean currents end up circling the supercontinent since there's nothing to force them to change paths and that's part of why they can develop such extreme environments. In our time Antarctica experiences somthing similar and that's why it's so dry. These circling currents can also create extremely strong and unpredictable weather patterns, which the Southern Ocean also experiences.
The Triassic extinction event may have partly been driven by strong currents through opening seaways. There had to be some crazy weather developing once the Atlantic finally connected to the Panthallasic.
Delaying the release of videos to ensure quality is quite admirable imo. Props to you for going the extra mile to deliver quality education to your audience. Especially since a lot of people, like myself, were taught next to nothing about prehistory in school.
I think its fitting that the next video took so long. Just like the world after the end Permian extinction... it took awhile to get started again. The Triassic is my favorite time in earths history so well worth the wait 😊

As someone who is interested in paleontology I would like to thank you for this whole series. In watching it I realized how fragile life really is compared to how earth changes. I find it funny that they hang the climate change tag on some of the videos about a time period hundreds of millions of years before mankind was to walk the earth and it kind of shows you how we need the kind of information you and others are adding to this platform. The answer that will save us from the problems they foresee will only be received by asking the right questions.
Hey thank you so much for doing this! Your videos are a perfect mix of entertainment and education. I've always been interested in palaeontology and i've followed this series from the beginning, all the previous videos were amazing but this one seems special....your hard work shows! And I must confess I never even knew the names of most of the animals you've described in this video. Thank you for the education and the entertainment! Great work!
I have been watching your awesome magnum opus as I study for and write my own M.O.! Thanks for these great vids. Your videos are referenced/cited in my doc. What did not die in the Great Dying?-one mighty Prince wondered as he wandered and lumbered in vain; Eris wrought magnitudes of ruin and grave decay, And Pale Death plundered great treasures from beings- Drakes and Aquarians alike-that being Life, Elder God Of Possibilities, who was snuffed first from seas Then extinguished on lands-unfathomable Strife. What did not die in the Great Dying?-one little Princess asked as she passed piles of carcasses Strewn in heaps upon land; magnitudes of Orders Perished at last after millions of cruel years Holding on to hope and grasping for glorious Refrain from chaotic chords of change, but Elders Did not see-did not know-did not care, so it seemed. What did not die in the Great Dying?-one tiny Prince pondered, since even the smallest bits of poems Suffered in acidic seas of doom; countless kinds Of Plankton and microscopic things, which had loomed Small but great in the waves, bowed out in such numbers Their bodies could be seen in layers of corpses, Stacked many meters deep as pale pillars of Death. What did not die in the Great Dying?-mighty Gods Would later query, how bleak and dreary Life seemed At the end of sharp points-periods that finished Entire lines of notes and meter forever In the Song of Being; in this way, every word Without new poetry was sentenced to Pale Death, And ninety percent of all living things perished.

Great work!
Everyone here has front row seats to this underrated channel. Leave your comments now before he gets too big to respond to all of them.
Every time you make another one, in this series, I go back and binge the entire set. You do a really fabulous job on these.
Wooo! That's what we've been waiting for baby!!!
Great video! Can't wait for the next one!
I speak for many when I say that we appreciate you and your content. Thank you so much for all the hard work and dedication.
AAAAAHHHHHHHH I missed this when it first came out! SO happy to see this!!
I have been watching your awesome magnum opus as I study for and write my own M.O.! Thanks for these great vids. Your videos are referenced/cited in my doc.
What did not die in the Great Dying?-one mighty
Prince wondered as he wandered and lumbered in vain;
Eris wrought magnitudes of ruin and grave decay,
And Pale Death plundered great treasures from beings-
Drakes and Aquarians alike-that being Life, Elder God
Of Possibilities, who was snuffed first from seas
Then extinguished on lands-unfathomable Strife.
What did not die in the Great Dying?-one little
Princess asked as she passed piles of carcasses
Strewn in heaps upon land; magnitudes of Orders
Perished at last after millions of cruel years
Holding on to hope and grasping for glorious
Refrain from chaotic chords of change, but Elders
Did not see-did not know-did not care, so it seemed.
What did not die in the Great Dying?-one tiny
Prince pondered, since even the smallest bits of poems
Suffered in acidic seas of doom; countless kinds
Of Plankton and microscopic things, which had loomed
Small but great in the waves, bowed out in such numbers
Their bodies could be seen in layers of corpses,
Stacked many meters deep as pale pillars of Death.
What did not die in the Great Dying?-mighty Gods
Would later query, how bleak and dreary Life seemed
At the end of sharp points-periods that finished
Entire lines of notes and meter forever
In the Song of Being; in this way, every word
Without new poetry was sentenced to Pale Death,
And ninety percent of all living things perished.
Great to see this series back up and running!
Many thanks
¡Gracias! SUPER THANKS CHAMP.
Hyped for this! By the way, is it me or is there a bit of an echo in the voiceover?
I also noticed that, the audio indeed has an echo.
