the fact that she stated "small things" to refer to the sexual harrassment the producer did to her is amazing. it truly shows how being raised unaware that sometimes some behaviors are just "sexual harassing" , they're not SMALL at all. It took me 3 years to keep asking myself why my boss kept touching my waist and back at work made me so uncomfortable and nobody at the time said it was not okay (was 28 and it was 2019). Until I met a 43 yo white woman online, and she told me that was harassment.
you know her story with the harassment was true when it didn't have serious details. the details are just simple, nothing dramatic, things such as touching a woman's legs, back, hair, neck, waist or texting them about sex or texting them at night not about deadlines of work are considered as NOTHING crazy back then. she's not making it up.

You, Constance, don't want to bring the guy down? Forget him! He DESERVES to lose his job no matter what good he did for the Asian-American community. Constance, you deserve to be free from the grief that you've carried for so long. As for the sexual assault from the other guy before him, he needs to be found as well. These men should NOT be out here working & harming other women like you.
I don’t doubt she was sexually harassed, but I don’t think she has an excuse for those tweets. It was low class. People love it when everyone loves their outspokenness but some can not deal when people criticize their tweets. And she wasn’t cancelled. She has been working non stop.
This story makes me so sad. "We are so much more than our tweets." Totally agree. Asian Americans please learn to support one another. If we don't support each other, no one will.
I think its really brave of her to open up about this. When she said not much can be gained about from bringing to light experiences of sexual abuse, I hope she also sees how much it reaches and validates other people who have gone through the same thing, and helps people feel not alone in their battles and deep struggles. At least for me, the experiences she's shared has helped me feel validated and supported; that I'm not crazy; and the benefit of getting mental health support and help ❤🙏🏼
Thank you for sharing her story. She is tender I can see. Actors and actresses are people too and should not be owned by the public opinion that way. I believe you. I wish you much healing and happiness and peace!
I defended her on Twitter from jump and said people had no idea what she was experiencing on set and why she might want to leave, and here we are. If y'all don't have personal knowledge about a person's situation why would you attack them for wanting to change it? Glad she's doing well.
Thank you for defending her. I didn’t pay much attention to it, but i remember when i first heard it, my immediate reaction was the same as what the vast majority were thinking. i didn’t attack or go on social media participating in the cancel culture bullshit, but i’m still ashamed and sorry that i judged so quickly. Putting it out there in the universe… CONSTANCE, IM SORRY. Hope you heal and heal and wish you happiness.
Constance Wu is a great actress. She’s endured a lot to get to where she is now. Nobody deserves to be harassed. It’s a violation of the law. If anything, Constance should fight for justice. We all support her no matter what happens. This incident should be looked into more. Women need to feel safe while filming on set. We should all fight for that.
Yeah, also u also wonder what made her stay on this set if she was dealing with this each time behind the scenes, you would think you would just leave, but money is a powerful thing i wonder if she had a income that she didn't have to stand for that and be like i am going to leave on what i feel is right.
i hated how people treated her. she was just letting out her frustrations on social media like the rest of do. she's human but people didnt see her that way. im so glad she got help and his better and i hope her career goes whatever way she wants it too. fuck those men who abused her, i hope they have to deal with the consequences of their horrible actions.
I knew someone who worked with her. Apparently she wouldn't let any extras look at her or speak to her. If she didn't like an extra they would have to be removed or she would refuse to work. This was way before the fame. She was always a mega b*tch. It was much worst than that too and then people found out so now her career is tanking so she has to back track and be a victim to save face. She's an actress.

The problem is wanting to just ignore the "political B.S." means you aren't trying to be the best human being you can be... you can't just separate the things other people go through because of their race when POC are being treated unkindly because of it. Being the best human being you can be should mean not just trying to empathize with others, but trying to understand the things you might not face because of any privileges you have that don't seem like a privilege to you. You may think that anyone in a situation similar to yours goes through the same kinds of hardships on the same level, but that's just not the reality when it comes to race, gender, disability, etc. People are treated worse than you, regardless of your personal background (notice I'm making sure not to assume you're a white man), because even POC can have privileges that other POC don't have. You might think it's tiring having to think about it, I assure you it's more tiring for the people actually going through it.
i feel like it's impossible, but i really hope this society can get to the point where we stop bullying and destroying the lives of public figures out of jealousy and hatred. we are constantly surveilled by each other on social media and now even I feel terrified to do anything embarrassing or say the wrong thing because I know one small mistake will turn the entire world against you. something has to change. i wish we could all have more empathy for each other. 💜
This is the best post i've seen in a long time, exactly the problem that people don't realize especially the generations that come ahead of us and current is that each human is flawed, people like to make themselves in the best positive light for media, but when you find out there real life it isn't always like that at all, then we complain about how a famous person acts but we never think about how we act towards people. How we get in this mob mentality of picking who is right and who is wrong, if a person doesn't agree with you there the wrong ones, its so strange how we never realize how much we don't work on ourselves and maybe if we improved ourselves world would be better.
She deserves more! Such a great actress, doing acting for the right reasons and not doing it for the fame or money! I love her for her and for what she’s doing for the Asian community.❤
Words are powerful man... it's crazy how any unstable person these days (including kids) can just log on to twitter and bully an adult to the extent that they considered suicide. I wish these platforms' AI automatically filtered hateful comments to create a more safe and positive user experience but that's unlikely to happen. These companies profit off of human suffering and insecurities.
I love her. She’s pretty and hilarious. I recall they mentioned she stepped out away from the limelight, and this was around the time I had my 1st child and somewhat detached from the world myself. Hate knowing she went through that.
Hollywood seems glamorous, but can have the dangers of a frat house for women. I really hope there are others in the industry who stand up for those who face this harassment.
Ehh.. she did deserve some hate. People went overboard with the pile on, but it was fair to call her out for that truly insensitive tweet. A lot of good people worked on Fresh off the boat. Her career wouldn’t be what it is without that show. It’s horrible one Asian producer abused her, but 100’s of others worked hard on that show and millions of fans loved it.
I’m sadden at the fact that such a down to earth and wonderful actress/person had to go through something like that. I hope all the bad thoughts leave her mind and only good things remain.
She was not down to earth at all. Her tweets were so dismissive of all the people who were proud of Fresh off the Boat. I wasn’t a fan, but I have Asian friends who felt proud the show existed. She feels like a victim, but she really brought on the Twitter hate herself. I’m sure the back lash was disproportionate, but that’s the life of a celebrity.. the love and admiration is disproportionate to the actual work actors do.. so is the hate.
I remember when she posted that tweet and wondered why people were being so hard on her for it because we didn’t know what was going on behind the scenes. I figured something was up that made her post that, but had no clue she was going through so much. I’m so glad that she didn’t follow through with suicide, has gotten help, and is able to tell her story today. I wish her all the best.
I remember when it came out she was a MASSIVE MASSIVE DIVA on set. I think it was on Hustlers. You know, that movie where she plays a stripper. I think she filmed it right after the events surrounding her grievances here alleging sexualization and inappropriate on set conduct...
I am happy that she is alive and well. In addition of being a mother, Constance is now in a show with Chris Pratt. I am sorry to hear about her troubles.
True. If you make a mistake, you are canceled and berated. If you're right, you're told you could have done more or you could have done things differently. If you do nothing, you're told to pick a side and not be complacent. No matter what you do, it's never enough and it's never right- so yes, you never win...
She deserves so much better!!! She is a great actress and is very skilled at her craft she deserves better. I absolutely loved her in fresh off the boat. In my opinion she made that show. I couldn’t be more happier seeing her here today knowing we could have lost her in a very tragic way. We love you Constance!!!
I remembered when those tweets came out and people were going in on her. Like they didn't know what was really going on outside the tweets it's really unfortunate what happened but i'm glad she is doing better. I am Asian-American and I was not really a fan of FOTB but the cancelation did make me question. Yes Constance Wu should call out these men for what they did to her they don't deserve to be working.
Her testimony touches my heart. Some, hopefully not most people in the asian community shame each other. The old shame culture still exists. Asians shame each other. Partially why I like to not stay in just the asian circle. Let people be free. I love an outspoken woman like Constance.
I totally against cancel culture, my problem with it is that people often do it without knowing all the facts. It happened in almost all cases. That’s why a lot of people just cancelled Johnny Depp for six years without knowing all the facts and they’re trying to be his best friend now.

I knew there was something more and it hurts my heart that she had to experience sexual harassment. I am proud of her for standing up for herself and I will read her new memoir.
Unwanted sexual harassment. Sexual harassment is a sin/ a wrong in every form. Sure its a grammatical error.
@@mikegee8875 I sincerely hope you’re never sexually harassed. Have some sympathy.
@@mikegee8875 Shame on you! This kind of behavior shouldn't happen to anyone. You or I don't know what happened! Please be a little more kinder.

Guess it didnt work. No one is talking about her book and Lyle Crocodile bombed hard.
It takes so much courage to speak up about abuse. Thank you for covering this story.
God I can’t even imagine. I just knew something was off when she tweeted those tweets. There had to be more. I’m saddened to hear it was this but I’m so proud of her speaking out. I’m so glad she’s still here with us. THANK YOU CONSTANCE!!!!

I just want to mom hug her and make her feel safe, so that truly knows she is valued and loved as a human being. Good that she is talking since there are so many people out there going through that, she is helping so many people.
Sometimes impulsive monologs should be left at just that. She made a mistake blasting it out to the world but I totally agree with Constance. The backlash she received was so over board and it sucks that it ruined her mentally for a few years. Glad she's back and I wish her the best.

You, Constance, don't want to bring the guy down? Forget him! He DESERVES to lose his job no matter what good he did for the Asian-American community. I don’t doubt she was sexually harassed, but I don’t think she has an excuse for those tweets. It was low class. People love it when everyone loves their outspokenness but some can not deal when people criticize their tweets. And she wasn’t cancelled. She has been working non stop.
Constance is a breath of fresh air. She’s truly just stunning. Prayers for her 🙏🏼❤️
This story makes me so sad.
We never know what people are going through .
Exactly, people always act pretending to be saints, but no one is.
I don't let my frustrations out on social media.
Well lesson learned don't go on social media
@@oscarramirez1914 Well good for you. You are superior and the people who do let their frustrations out are worthy of scorn.

thank you good morning america for giving Constance Wu a platform to tell her story. I hope she gets better. things like this is very traumatizing. . . my prayer goes for her.
I just wish we could all drop the political BS and try being the best human beings we can possibly be.
PREACH
America is just sick... mentally sick.
I wish for this everyday. What ever happened to just being the best person you can be without hidden agendas & trying to get ahead without smashing others down by doing it. It will only get worse before it ever gets better. It has to hit rock bottom to come back up sadly if it ever does.
Amen!!!!!!
I'm so happy that she sought help and that she's moving forward. She's a strong woman. I thought she was excellent in The Terminal List.
Yup
Pull the plug. It aint that hard.
PREACH like for real tho, it's sad 😣
I'm very happy she's speaking out, she didn't deserve any of this hate, I hope she finds healing and joy in her life ❤️
Ehh.. she did deserve some hate.

I totally against cancel culture, my problem with it is that people often do it without knowing all the facts. It happened in almost all cases. That’s why a lot of people just cancelled Johnny Depp for six years without knowing all the facts and they’re trying to be his best friend now.
