as a woodworker this is truly the most beautiful architecture i have ever seen. I found myself pausing the video and staring at the carvings to try and plan out how i would even begin to carve it. feeling proud as a Romanian, whenever i see a Peles castle video. Every time i go there to visit, there is this wide street through the forest that takes you to the castle, and then there is this moment when you take a turn and just like magic, the castle just appears in its full beauty on the hill and it just takes my breath away every single time i see it. What craftsmanship. The castles of Europe are amazing. I visited Mozart's castle in Salzburg & was blow away at the extravagance. Such care went into every detail. The wealth that was put into building & decorating really makes one think of how the people of the time lived in poor conditions so that their rulers could live in such a fashion.

Here is to be seen an unimaginably beautiful castle as well as to be heard an extraordinarily charming guide. What a marvellous tour, what an enchanting place! How proud we can be to belong to the same species as those honourable artists, tirelessly working to make the world even more spectacular. How much we must strive to ever follow their example 😍

      well, you're not wrong
      from wiki:
"The cost of the work on the castle undertaken between 1875 and 1914 was estimated to be 16,000,000 Romanian lei in gold. Between three and four hundred men worked on the construction. During the construction phase, Queen Elisabeth of Wied wrote in her journal:
Italians were masons, Romanians were building terraces, the Gypsies were coolies. Albanians and Greeks worked in stone, Germans and Hungarians were carpenters. Turks were burning brick. Engineers were Polish and the stone carvers were Czech. The Frenchmen were drawing, the Englishmen were measuring, and so was then when you could see hundreds of national costumes and fourteen languages in which they spoke, sang, cursed and quarreled in all dialects and tones, a joyful mix of men, horses, cart oxen and domestic buffaloes."

Love Costin's presentation and his jacket. My 3rd time watching this. An extraordinary building. Some of my favorite items- the
spiral staircase in the Hall of Honour. The mirror in the Florentine room. The mosaic of the Moorish room.
