Correct, the cacao butter (fats of the cacao) have a lower melting point, almost roomtemp. and diffuse to the outside. White choclate can't really be called choclate, it's only that stuff and almost no cacao.
I already know you must be talking about little Miss Clementine and he hasn't finished opening the box! 😊. She is an absolute doll!! I agree fully with your comment! 👏
Things I learned from this video: 1. Oregon has a desert. 2. There are Kangaroo Rats in Oregon. 3. There are Jackrabbits in Oregon. 4. Clementine loves her Daddy, and chocolate. 5. Peanutbutter from Norway can be used as tile grout.
Clementine was like, chomp! chomp! That was so adorable! Her visit to the filming room wasn't planed, but it ended up being complementary to the footage.
Typically when chocolate starts turning white it's because the oil starts to separate from the chocolate. It can happen because the chocolate is getting old, the temperature of the chocolate has changed repeatedly or it can even happen naturally depending on the type and amount of Cocoa used.
justinl458 lol I thought it was funny. People are too sensitive these days. Just you saying that doesn’t mean it has any direct correlation to his daughter :/ You were simply commenting on the accidental usage of something that’s known as something else: simple. C’mon people, we’re mostly adults here.
Yeah, it's specifically referred to as the chocolate "blooming" when it happens. It is primarily the fat melting and re-crystallizing when it isn't kept in a stable temperature. Generally doesn't change the flavor.
The Atlantic Kangaroo Rat is considered threatened now, haven't seen a live one in over a decade. I see them dead a lot though in sandpits so they're still around.
Is there anything you can’t do Shawn! Awesome dad, hunter, builder, TH-cam personality...your material is so much better than 99.9% of the garbage on TV!
The white stuff is just fats and oils in the chocolate. It’s called “blooming” when it rises to the surface like that. Probably from heat. Chocolate that’s been on the shelf for a while can do that also.
They're ultra humane traps. That means they dont work! Awesome, there'll be a video for your new channel soon!!! Those rats are bizarre btw. Like a half evolved kangaroo
Makes sense that a trapper/hunter can adapt to all TH-cam’s ludicrous “changes” so impressively well. Awesome to see you’re still progressing with what you CAN control like editing and such!
The white on the chocolate is called "bloom". Essentially it is the cocoa butter leaching out of the chocolate and sitting on the surface. It is usually caused by unstable temperatures, though age can cause it too. A severe case can affect the texture of the chocolate, leaving it a bit dryer and kind of crumbly. But a light case only affects the appearance of the chocolate. Either way the taste and safety of the chocolate is unaffected by the bloom. Bloomed cocoa butter is different from rancid cocoa butter, though both can be caused by age or temperature fluctuations. If the bar tastes off, the cocoa butter may be rancid. That doesn't necessarily make it unsafe to eat, just unpleasant tasting. I hope that helps explain it.
Because certain people of limited intellect think pest control is animal cruelty. And despite the fact most traps featured are live catch and he releases to the wild, the fact one kill trap was ever used is a permanent mark on the channel to those idiots. If a video of trees swaying in the breeze was posted to this channel, they'd still report it for animal cruelty.

The white costing is simply a thin costing of separated fat. This is typically caused by repeated heating and cooling. The chocolate is completely and perfectly edible and the taste is virtually unaffected. So, enjoy without worries. 😃
Kangaroo rats are so awesome! Loved learning about them in my bio class. They can go 3-5 years without water! They get their water from metabolic water (breaking down food) and their lifespan is only like 2-5 years so they can pretty much go their entire life without drinking water!

It is called sugar blooming. It is when chocolate gets moisture and crystalizes the sugar. often through condensation. does not change the taste or makes it bad to eat.
The weird looking chocolate bars that turn white is something that might make you nervous to eat, but not to worry! It's called it is called "bloom" and it depends on the age of the chocolate because of what is happening to the candy. Apparently, when the cocoa butter (which is the fat found in the chocolate bars) separates from the chocolate leaving a visually looking white substance.
Wow, those little kangaroo rats are ALMOST as cute as your daughter! They remind me a bit of a gerbil. Hamsters also have huge check pouches. We used to get a kick out of giving our pet hamsters seeds to see just how many they could pack into their mouth. I'm looking forward to the vids from your hunt.
Omg, Clementine is soooo adorable! She needs her own channel -- taste testing chocolates and candy! Please keep including her on the channel she makes my heart smile! 🥰
My Grandpa caught one of those years ago in his bee apiary and brought it home. We played with it for a while and then let it go. They are very cute mice like animals. As I remember it was docile and hopped a bit like a kangaroo. Very cute.
Oh my gosh clementine is getting so big! It's so cool to see her in the video. Soon you'll be taking her hunting with you. Hope everything is going well. Cant wait till the next video.
the white on chocolate is bloom, when you heat chocolate up to pour it into the mold at the factory you have to keep the temperature just right when cooling or the structure of the chocolate will not form back correctly to chocolate as we know it. (imagine a wall line of legos put together then when heated up they disassemble the pieces in a container. Then depending on the temperature it will either go back correctly or it will reassemble differently into different structures than it started as making sugar bloom possible or will ball up weirdly and crumble for example) It is also visually similar how you can oversaturate sugar in water and heat it up so it is invisible, then even a grain of sugar added past the saturation point will cause it to suddenly crystalize. Cool science experiment for kids by the way. it doesn't add to the total sugar amount in the pot, but it makes it visible just like sugar bloom on chocolate. When the chocolate was shipped it must have heated up then cooled at an improper temperature and it led to the perfect condition for bloom to occur. It just looks weird and sometimes slightly affects the flavor some times, but its harmless.
@@foxtrotbravo1744 they are amazing, it's really creamy milk chocolate, and it blends perfectly with the saltiness of the Bugles. Seriously, the Norwegians have taken junk food to a whole new level.

I’ve read that most catch and release traps do actually kill the animal, but after you let them go. The stress of being captured, trying to escape and being unable to, and the relocation to unfamiliar setting stresses them so they die. Live traps may seem more human, but we are just kidding ourselves. This has been shown to happen even with very large animals like elk. In one case a large number were dart and relocated. They were all tagged and all found dead later in their new location. In your case they are being release back in a familiar area. Could you comment on your thoughts on this?
Those desert kangaroo rats remind me of a type of mouse we have native to Australia called Hopping Mice well there is actually a bunch of different types of hopping mice but they all hop
I would never feed my daughter chocolate out of the mail from a stranger. You are a very trusting person....it's amazing how different animals take on the same characteristics in different regions of the world
