Thanks for this video, very well filmed, and good dialog, I have a Volvo C70II 2011, which has exactly the same suspension set up, it's quite literally the same parts, as this car was developed under Ford ownership in the mid 2000s, I will be relacing the whole control arm, seems pointless to me taking everything off and not having a new replacement to be honest, I bought a Meyle lower control arm for £76 complete (original quality) no messing around and quicker, don't have to worry about having to replace the control arm bushes either at a later date, they are prone to wear out around the 100k mark, my offside control arm bushes were completely gone at 102k and was replaced, now the other side has gone at 106k, but this time I will do it myself, the garage charged me £208 supply and fit Napa control arm.
The single bolt on the control arm... it is recommended that you don't fully tighten until you have its normal load on it... either from raising the suspension arm slightly with a jack or putting the car back on the ground... then you can fully tighten the single bolt 😉👍
Might as well, seems pointless to me to go to all that trouble only to find a few months down the road, the lower control arm bushes are worn out, I'm doing mine very soon, also replacing my outer and inner tie rods at the same time, my thinking is if one part is duff, then all the other are on the way too, having removed the lower control arm means better access to the inner tie rod fixing too 👍
Thanks for the in-depth video showing the process. Now I feel confident enough to knock this out myself.
oh my goodness I've been though so many unhelpful long videos for this job then found this one thanks so much great job

Good job man!
Pending a self inspection in the next week, might have to do this to my '08 (North American vers.) Focus. I think I'll replace the entire arm!!

Nice job
What size is a ball joint? 18 or 21 ?
Bit more expensive but easier to just replace the whole wishbone arm coz the bushes will prob be knackered anyway. Thanks for sharing
Thank you
Is there a special reason to have the nut/washer on top?
No, it’s just wrong. If the nuts come loose the bolts will just fall out. Very dangerous. This is why we never trust some random TH-camrs guide…
Ty
I paid an extra 7 quid for the whole wishbone. A lot less stressful and much quicker.
I will do the same. It just doesn't seem worth the extra work to get the ball joint out, since the whole wishbone isn't that much more expensive.
70 quid extra to get whole arm
only thing you didnt do qas tighten/torque the bolts down while under ride load, orher rhan that great video
