@@cycy8699 "you are dashing too much poor aim You misstime proboosting the screwdriver? Really? *counterparries your parry* you should have slide jumped away"
Something important that you didn't mention that I feel could be important is that FP will never summon while there are still summons alive, so leaving on alive and then killing it when it tries to heal could be better than killing all of them
doing this definitely gives you more room to breathe and heal because FPs heal and summon animations are more or less completely harmless. once you master the fight this bit of time where you can barely scratch it and it isnt hurting you is just an annoyance and means you get a slower time so im not surprised that Herb forgot to mention it. its likely that it never occurred to him.
two reasons why you shouldnt do this and instead kill all the minions before attacking the boss 1. the more minions there are alive, the more the timer will go down when the boss takes damage (the wiki has more info on this) 2. the boss receives insane damage reduction during healing, so you cant really damage it anyway
Ultrakill's bosses are the best features of the whole game so far, I can't name anything else more iconic than a fleshy diamond turning into a blue god that drop kicks your ass. Amazing video btw, the info is extremely useful.
Some things I think worth mentioning/have come out since: -The slab revolver oneshots the mini malicious faces, regular revolver will not, so manually hitting them with the slab can be faster than with standard marksman -The overheat sawblade does a lot of damage, since you can have it either bounce up and down on the edge of FP (too close to the centre and it hits FPs base and gets deflected) or by sticking a nail to a corner so that it’ll go around and hit all 4 corners each orbit. Best used when there’s a lot of time before FP heals itself. -While FP heals itself it has a massive damage resistance, meaning there’s no point in even trying to finish it off. Rather go for all remaining eyes You can go just past the checkpoint without triggering the fight to set up a bunch of freezeframe rockets to start the fight off with a good chunk of damage (FP will then summon, which is when you position yourself for a core eject nuke) -Reflecting the hellseekers can do a lot of damage and given how they track you, you can rapidly parry multiple ones.
Fantastic guide as usual! Big fan of the transitions by the way, I like how they reinforce the ominousness of Flesh Prison :) Also, a personal note too for those who might struggle with Herb's method of skipping the staircase: I find it's easy to skip if you dash from the same position as suggested in the video but immediately ground slamming once you hear the wind sounds from falling. This will almost always land you on top of the spine or at least very close to it (within dashing distance). You can finish the trek once you land from there :)
@@thoranda3469 haha yep, i am borderline addicted to this game (so much so that it's the first game i've decided to speedrun). so you might be able to find me on a few ultrakill related videos... :)
I assume all acts are getting a P level, since this level is only P-1, and we can see 2 other stages in the Prime Sanctums, presumably one for each act.
That trip down the spine was the first time the game felt like a true horror game. More so than anything else I've played in any other game. Nothing will ever match that slow distortion of the music as we travel down that disturbing, endless darkness.
You’re a real mvp, Herb! I was beyond satisfied when I figured some of this stuff out on my own back when the update dropped. I found that mobility is key when fighting FP and (for me) holding your ground works for MP. When I stopped running around like a lunatic and only moved when absolutely necessary (while constantly shooting and punching like a lunatic), I found MP MUCH more feasible.
ive found that by shooting an attractor spike to the middle of fp right as you hit the checkpoint bar and then shooting about 5 sawblades and one overheat sawblades consistently helps me start off the fight with fp at about 2/3rds health right off the bat with the sawblades disappearing quickly enough to not make fp try to heal immediately from the first batch of eyes, plus with extra good positioning it can take out 2 eyes instantly
yo, thanks for this guide! i only needed help with the spinal staircase skip, but after i got the gist of it, i ended up first trying a minos prime P rank! (on standard, but hey, an achivement to me :)]
I actually found this lad to be the easiest boss in the game (leaving out SM and HM because minibosses). Even then though, this was a great watch and helped me to better understand the fight and learn some other ways to kill em.
@@spaghoottionaplate4752 if you fire a core eject (default shotgun alternate fire), and hit it with the explosive railcannon, it will do a huge explosion and kill almost all of the eyes. you can finish the rest off with coins if you dont have railcannon charged, you should focus the eyes with your pistol and coins before attacking the prism
a little bit unrelated but i believe the reason why the flesh prison would be a bit harder to get through than Minos Prime is because it's supposed to be the one thing stopping anyone from getting /to/ Minos Prime, and to stop Minos Prime from getting out, so it being harder than Minos Prime in general kind of makes sense.
One tip I used while P-Ranking P1 is that you can somewhat consistently avoid all of Flesh Prison's attacks by simply chaining slides together and going around the edge of the arena. You get a decent speed boost whenever you start a slide, and it means you outrun the pillars and the orbs. That way, you don't have to focus on dodging attacks and instead can focus on dealing with the summons and damaging Flesh Prison itself.

If you’re not amazing at swapping weapons, as long as you can deal with the Prison’s eyes and deny the heal, if you want consistent small bursts of damage, I can highly recommend the rocket launcher against it, Flesh Prison is an easy immobile target and it does good damage against it.
tbh the summons might be the hardest for me. don't got all p-ranks but still, the light i've had the vurtires, and the other two are easy doging. but what tf was the dev smokeing when he MADE HEALING A THING!?
Me, watching this video, having already P ranked P-1 and having no desire to do it again on violent mode: hmm, yes, very interesting, I'll have to try this
for skipping the staircase I found a more consistent Strat (requires whiplash and 90 FOV): walk to the very edge of the metal exit platform turn right until the torch pedestal is just off screen (FOV 90) walk off the edge and dash 6 times start spamming the whiplash downward, you should see a section of spine forming an upside-down U, then the door past it slightly to the right
Fun fact: you can easily kill him by using the screwdriver railcannon and the rocket launcher. Just spam the rocket launcher because it does big amounts of damage to it.
You forgot to mention that on harder difficulties flesh prison has a shield function that after you kill the eyes flesh prison (once enough damage is done to it) will be able to tank loads of damage (this might just be in the new patch but I'm not sure since I only got to flesh prison after act 2 was released)

How about using the malicious rail + grenade explosion to deflect the tracking orbs. Haven't tried it yet, but as it's a bigger explosion it should deflect a massive number of orbs towards FP
